Abstract:[Objective] To investigate outcomes of computer-aided adjustment of Taylor spatial frame for treatment of tibiofibular fracture.[Methods] From June 2015 to May 2016,24 patients with tiabiofibular fracture, including 22 male and 2 female, aged from 14 to 58 years with an average of 37.1±13.9 years, were treated with Taylor spatial frame, which was adjusted for improvement of reduction after surgery.Of them, the patients who had a direct measurement with caliper on X ray film were assigned as the traditional group, while the patients who had computer-aided measurement were termed as the computer-aided group, which were conducted with Coreldraw X7 software for DICOM format files of X-ray films and Mimics 10.1 software for the bilateral tibiofibula CT scans. The Taylor spatial frames were respectively adjusted 3 times every day according to the data directly measured with a caliper,or obtained from computer software after surgery.[Results] After adjustment of the frames, the residual deformities were corrected well in all of the 24 patients,to meet the standard of function restoration. The traditional group was significantly inferior to the computer-aided group in the improvement rate of displacement in anteroposterior (AP) position (59.56% vs 70.17%,P=?),angle in AP position (72.76% vs 81.02%,P=?),displacement in lateral position (56.31% vs 67.41%,P=?),and angle in lateral position (57.44% vs 70.32% P=?).[Conclusion] The computer-aided measurement does get the precise data for adjustment of Taylor spatial frame to correct the residual deformities more accurately.
