Effect of Caulis Spatholobi Decoction on Cytokine Production in Mice

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of Caulis Spatholobi decoction on the IL-1, IL-2, IL-3 production and the proliferative ability of spleen and bone marrow cells in mice.METHODS MTT method was used to the amount of the cells which were sensitive to these cytokines and compare the significant difference between the experimental group and the blank group.Spleen and bone marrow cells were cultured in vitro,MTT method was used to measure the proliferation of these cells.RESULTS There was a significant difference between the experimental group and the blank group in the production of these cytokines and the proliferation of bone marrow cells (P0.05), but not in the proliferation of spleen cells.CONCLUSION Caulis Spatholobi decoction improved the production of IL-1,IL-2 and IL-3.It also significantly improved the proliferative ability of bone marrow cells
