Rationality of Perioperative Prophylactic Use of Antibiotics Based on PK/PD Parameters

Abstract:Relatively broad, effective, safe and inexpensive antibiotics should be chosen as prophylactics in the perioperative period. Cephalosporins are the best choice. The first and second generation cephalosporins are the most appropriate antibiotics for perioperative prevention, while the third and fourth generation cephalosporins are only used for serious infections, which are not recommended as prophylactic medications. Other antibiotics such as nitroimidazole and aztreonam can also be considered in the case of anaerobic bacteria infections, allergic reactions and other conditions. Our paper firstly elaborated on how to choose preventive antibacterial drugs more reasonable based on PK/PD parameters to guide clinical rational uses of antibiotics.
