Abstract:Obstructive sleep apnea(OSA) refers to the complete or partial obstruction of the upper airway during sleep, resulting in repeated apnea and/or hypopnea,in turn leading to microarousal, intermittent hypoxia and excessive daytime sleepiness.OSA-induced chronic intermittent hypoxia, can cause sympathetic nervous excitement, endothelial dysfunction, systemic inflammation, oxidative stress and metabolic disorders, can induce or aggravate myocardial injury. Many studies have confirmed that OSA can cause myocardial injury markers increasing, and promote left ventricular remodeling and decreased cardiac function, and is an independent predictor of cardiovascular morbidity and poor prognosis. At present, the pathophysiological mechanism and development of myocardial injury caused by OSA remains to be further studied. The objective of this review was to discuss the clinical and basic research related to OSA and myocardial injury.
