Comparison of Lung Function and Severity in Different Gender in Non-smoking Patients with COPD

Abstract:To compare the lung function and severity in different genders in non-smoking patients with COPD .93 COPD patients without smoking history were conducted in the department of respiratory disease in the affiliated hospital of Chengde Medical College ,and were divided into 2 groups:male (n=34)and female (n=59) .We compared their lung function ,frequency of exacerbation in the past year ,scores of mMRC and disease severity .Between the male and female groups all FEV1% pred ,FVC% pred ,PEF% pred ,FEF25 -75% pred ,FEF25% pred ,FEF75% pred and DOSE index scoring are signicantly difference (P< 0 .05) .But compared with DLCO% pred and Raw% pred there was no signicant difference (P>0 .05) .Female non-smokers COPD patients are worse than male non-smokers patients in lung function and disease severity ,it may be because that female are more sensitive to risk factors like biomass fuel and air pollution .
