Clinical Analysis of the Treatment of Congenital Dislocation of the Hip in Adults with Total Hip Arthroplasty Follow-Up Study of 24hips in 20 Patients

Abstract:Objective To discuss the key point of treatment of congenital dislocation of the hip in adults with total hip arthroplasty. Method From 1986 to 2003, we have performed total hip arthroplasty in 20 cases( 24 hips ) who had a congenitalness dislocation of the hip in adults. According to dislocation level divide into type Ⅰ～Ⅲ, different types adopt different operation countermeasure; Harris hip scores were made preoperatively and postoperatively to appraise the hip functions. Results For the 6.7 average years follow-up study, all the cases' Harris hip scores increased from a median value of 35.8 points preoperatively to a median of 87.6 points. In which 7 hip were revised one times and 1 hips was revised two times. Conclusion According to the summary, because of its existent pathology ,we want to discuss some relevant problem about the congenital dislocation displacement of the hip in adults. in operation, doctors should notice the release and balance of soft tissue and shortness of femur, the acetabular arthroplasty, individual design of acetabulum and superior femur segment. Good preoperative preparation and the analysis judgement for various different pathology conditions is the key of operation success.
