Abstract:Pesticides are widely found in aquatic environment,such as in surface waters,ground water and rainwater.So,pesticides have become one of the important contaminants in water environment.Studying the degradation behavior of pesticides in water is the primary step to protect and reduce water pollution.Progresses in research of pesticides degradation pathways in water environment are reviewed in this paper.These degradation pathways include biodegradation,chemical degradation and photodegradation.Finding and isolating microorganisms for degrading pesticides are key work for research in the biodegradation of the pesticides,and the suitable environmental conditions for microorganisms degrading pesticide are also important.Many microorganisms capable of degrading pesticides have been isolated and characterized.Hydrolysis is the main chemical degrading process of pesticides in water.The hydrolysis rate of most pesticides is strongly influenced by pH and temperature.Since most pesticides show UV Vis absorption bands at relatively short UV wavelengths,so the direct photodegradation of pesticides by sunlight is expected to be of only limited importance.Abundant studies on pesticides photodegradation with photosensitizer are available.The performance of TiO_(2),H_(2)O_(2),UV/Fe(III)/H_(2)O_(2),FeCl_(3)/H_(2)O_(2)β-CyD and natural organic matter are summarized.The existing problems and trend of future study in this field were proposed also.
