Abstract:In order to verify the design feasibility and model rationality of the mixed magnetic-levitation weight support system of hydroelectric generating set,the relevant calculations and analyses were performed based on the actual data of hydroelectric generating sets of Ankang Hydropower Station and the mathematical models for electromagnetic and permanent magnetic levitation support devices. An optimized Excel table of parameters for the mixed magnetic-levitation weight support system was established. The influences of variation of model parameters on the calculated magnetic levitation forces were dynamically analyzed,and the integral optimization of the structural parameters was realized. A comparison between the optimized data and the traditional thrust bearing support ways indicates that the mixed magnetic-levitation weight support system can greatly reduce the friction and the waste of the bearings of hydroelectric generating sets and improve the efficiency and the service life of the weight support system of hydroelectric generating sets.

Abstract:To solve the problem caused by the heavily axial gravity load of the rotor and main shaft of the hydraulic generators, a superconducting induction magnetic levitation device is proposed for hydraulic generator system. AC superconducting windings are implemented to increase the levitation force. The basic structure and principle are introduced. According to the calculated magnetic field distribution, the AC loss power of the superconducting winding is estimated. In addition, the levitation force and torque are obtained and analyzed under different condition.

Abstract:In this paper, superconducting maglev is considered to replace or deload the thrust bearing sustaining a big force of a few thousands ton in the 1000MW Hydraulic generator system. Eletromagnetic suspension (EMS) and eletrodynamic suspension (EDS) from induced eddy current are discussed and compared about the advantages and disadvantages. EDS is more suitable for the system because of the high suitability and simple control system. Structure of EDS is designed and analytical model is established based on Maxwell's equations is applied to analyze the lift force and drag force. 3-D simulation model is built and all the results is verified by finite element analysis.

Abstract:Magnetic-Liquid Double Suspension Bearing(MLDSB) uses double support form-hydrostatic pressure support and electromagnetic Suspension.While its support capacity and stiffness can be improved sharply,the operation stability of MLDSB can be impacted by some factors which affect the stability of its support system operation.The operation stability of single DOF support system of MLDSB is analyzed and corrected in this paper.Firstly,this paper introduces the structural features and support adjustment mechanism.Secondly,based on force balance equation,electromagnetic equation and flow equation,the transfer function of single DOF support system of MLDSB is deduced,and its support stability is analyzed.The research shows that the existence of the right pole of the single DOF support system is the main reason for instability of the system.Finally,the stability of single DOF support system is corrected using the root locus method and the frequency method and tested by Matlab software.We show that the operation stability and the dynamic quality of the corrected support system is improved greatly.The research in this paper can provide the theoretical reference for the structure design and performance analysis of MLDSB.

Abstract:Based on a method used to calculated the magnetic field in a thin clearance between superconducting blocks, in this paper, a new type of superconducting suspension system is designed. Force characteristics of the passive suspension system are firstly analyzed. Then aiming to improve the low supporting stiffness of the passive suspension system, a linear feedback control system is introduced and its force characteristics are also analyzed. Comparison between analytical results and finite element analysis (FEA) results shows a good agreement. With the virtue of simple structure and convenience of calculation of magnetic field, this suspension system has reference meaning to superconducting accelerometer and superconducting gyroscope.

Abstract:The magnetic suspension system is an important component of the superconducting magnet system, playing a supporting role for key components - the superconducting magnet and the cryogenic shield in strong magnetic fields and ultra-low temperature environments. The new adjustable suspension system is composed of 8 sets of adjustable three-dimensional rod components, which can not only withstand strong tensile forces but also adjust the coaxiality of the superconducting magnet. In addition, the three-dimensional rod components also innovatively integrate sensors for detecting the tension of the rods, and then analyze the mechanical strength and natural frequency of the suspension system through theoretical calculation, simulation and experimental verification. The results show that the structural design of this new suspension system is reasonable.
Novel Bearingless Machine with a Single Set of Multiphase Windings

Abstract:A bearingless machine with a single set of multiphase windings was proposed based on the principle of motor levitation.Two needed magnetic fields were produced through feeding two groups of currents into the single set of multiphase windings by using a multiphase inverter.Taking a six phase induction machine as example,the levitation principle and winding configurations were analyzed. The inductance matrices considering airgap eccentricity were calculated with the modified winding function method.A radial force analytical model was deduced by virtual displacement method,and the correctness of the model were validated by finite element analysis.A mathematical model of the new bearingless machine was set up,and the simulation on the magnetic field oriented control showed stable suspension and good speed-regulation performance.

Abstract:A new electromagnetic suspension model using a combination of high temperature superconductors (HTS) and copper conductors is proposed in this paper. A feasibility study showed that the magnets of our model can generate the 250 kg vertical suspension force. Three dimensional FEM and Design Sensitivity Analysis using the levitation gap length and cross sectional dimensions of the HTS magnets as design parameters were conducted to obtain the optimal shape of the cross section and the configuration of the HTS magnet. It was found that the gap length when optimized HTS magnet was used was much larger than that when copper conductor magnet was used, while the HTS coil volume was minimum, and the perpendicular field along the outer surface of the HTS coil was less than 0.12 T.

Abstract:In this paper, the magnetic suspension technology is used in the gantry-moving type numerically controlled machine tool to solve the friction problem of the gantry-moving type numerically controlled machine center. Because the suspension control system of in the gantry-moving type numerically controlled machine tool is a very low stiffness of the nonlinear system, and which is constantly influenced from the external disturbance and the perturbation of the parameters itself in the process, which seriously affects the precision of the system precision. In this regard, the paper uses the robust control design H^, controller that can improve the stiffness of the suspension system. Simulation results show that this control scheme has better stability and robustness, and meets the high stiffness of the magnetic processing system performance requirements.
Design of magnetorheological dampers for stay cables of Zhaobao Mountain Bridge

Abstract:A new design method of MR dampers for suppression of cable vibration is proposed. The MR dampers for stay cables of Zhaobao Mountain Bridge are designed by utilizing the proposed design method, and the analysis of the cables incorporated with the designed MR dampers are carried out. The control effectiveness of the designed MR dampers to reduce the prototype cable wind-induced vibration and sinusoidal exciting using semiactive control strategy proposed by Harvot, and "Passive-off " strategy, are verified numerically and compared with each other strategy. The analytical results show that the designed MR dampers can effectively reduce the cable vibration. The availability and validity of the design method of MR dampers for cables are also simultaneously demonstrated.

Abstract:Active magnetic bearings (AMBs) have been extensively used in the vibration reduction of rotating machinery because of active control technology. In fact, the mechanical characteristics of the magnetic bearing are also important for vibration isolation as the main vibration transmission path. In this paper, a finite element (FE) model of a 30 kW magnetic suspended prototype pump suspended by 5-DOF AMBs was established to simulate the vibration transmission of the system. Two external excitations, unbalanced force of the rotor and hydrodynamic force acted on the impeller were considered. Based on the model, several main factors that affect the vibration transmission of magnetic suspended pump were investigated, such as mass distribution of the system, the equivalent stiffness of the AMBs and the rubber vibration isolators were investigated. Based on the above work, a new magnetic suspended pump was developed. The results of simulation and experiments show that the new design can effectively reduce the vibration transmission of the system.

Abstract:The suspension structure and method of superconducting sphere rotor were introduced. The properties of electromagnetic field distribution and the calculation of suspension force were discussed. From the experiment, it is found that the rotor can change the suspension height along the direction of spin axis by controlling the current of suspension coil. The results give some useful references which can enhance the suspension stability and the suspension stiffness of superconducting sphere rotor.

Abstract:To improve automatic cone winding machine stability and work efficiency,problems existed in winding machine duct and the causes were analyzed.The yarn suction duct was optimized,new yarn suction duct with diversion pipelines and variable cross-section were designed.Through calculation,flow situation in yarn suction duct before and after optimization were contrasted.It is proved that the design is rational.It is considered that after the optimization,the pressure change of yarn suction duct is reduced,anti-jamming capability is increased,the stability and work efficiency of automatic cone winding machine can be improved.

Abstract:The high-speed rotating superconducting rotor can be used as an sensor to measure angular speed or angular position. Mass unbalance and oblateness of superconducting rotor is the main error source to measure angular speed or angular position. General Electric company has developed an Superconducting rotor magnetic suspension device with accuracy of 0.005° per hour, but its rotor structure is very complex. So it is diffcult to process and assemble with extremely small mass-unblance and, small oblateness, which limits the further improvement of its accuracy. Based on this the paper introduces a magnetic support structure with a simple superconducting rotor compared to rotor maked by General Electric company. The rotor sphere is a closed structure with no theoretical mass eccentricity. And its electromagnetic structure is more simplified compared to General Electric company, the stator coil is the torquer coil at the same time. The stator coil is used to accelerate the rotor, while the torquer is used to make the rotor erect. Based on the theory of superconducting electrodynamics and the finite element method, the characteristics of the magnetic suspension structure are analyzed. The magnetic field coupling effect of the stator and the suspension coils on the surface of the superconducting rotor is studied at first, and its influence on magnetic supporting force is analyzed. The current direction of the two suspension coils should be opposite, otherwise the rotor will produce forced vibration, which will make it diffcult to accelerate the superconducting rotor. Then the magnetic circuit theory and the finite element method are used to model the magnetic circuit of the magnetic levitation structure, and the critical carrying capacity of the magnetic suspension structure and the optimal suspension conditions are calculated. Finally, a method to optimize its carrying capacity was designed. That is, the current of the suspension coils are controlled by the acceleration of superconducting cavity. Through this method, the maximum bearing capacity of the magnetic levitation structure can be increased by 78% compared with fixed optimal suspension current support. The analysis results provide a reference for the structural design and optimization of the superconducting rotor magnetic levitation system.

Design and characteristics analysis of a new vibration reduction system for in service long span transmission tower

Abstract:The wind-induced fatigue is the main factor leading to reduction of the bearing capacity of long-span transmission towers. In order to reduce the harm of wind vibration, this paper takes the 500 kV Jiamusi region ISLSTT (in service long span transmission tower) as the research object, and a new kind of vibration reduction system is proposed based on a steel wire rope damping structure, with which the vibration characteristics of ISLSTT is analyzed. Firstly, the layout and components of the new vibration reduction system are described, and the damping performance of which is verified and analyzed by finite element method. Secondly, the nonlinear finite element dynamic simulation model of ISLSTT with the new vibration reduction system is established, and the multi-dimensional fluctuating wind speed time history satisfying Davenport wind speed spectrum is given by harmonic superposition method in the time domain. Based on the Bernoulli theorem, the corresponding time history of wind pressure is obtained, and the random wind load is applied to the finite element model to verify the feasibility and efficient of the new vibration reduction system. Finally, the aero-elastic wind tunnel test model of ISLSTT with the new vibration reduction system is built, and the time history curves of stress and acceleration at key points under different wind directions are obtained. By comparing with the un-damped system, it is demonstrated that the average damping efficiency of this method in the scale of stress and acceleration is 72.88% and 77.17%, respectively. The simulation and wind tunnel test results also demonstrate that the vibration reduction system based on wire rope damping structure can effectively reduce the vibration of ISLSTT caused by the non-uniformity of wind speed. The research results lay a solid foundation for the vibration reduction design of in service long span tower-line system in future.

Abstract:The design method of MR damper for suppression of stay cables vibration was proposed based on the design approaches of structural active control,semiactive control and intelligent control systems.The MR damper for stay cables of Shandong Binzhou Yellow River Bridge was designed by utilizing the proposed design method,and the analysis of the cables incorporated with the designed MR damper was carried out.The control effectiveness of the designed MR dampers reduced the prototype cable wind-induced vibration using semiactive control strategy proposed by HARVOT.Active control,semiactive control and passive-on and passive-off control strategy were verified numerically and compared with each other.The analytical results show that the designed MR damper can effectively reduce the cable wind-induced vibration.The availability and validity of the design method of MR damper for cables were also simultaneously demonstrated through the numerical study on the prototype cables transversely connected with MR damper near the lower anchorage.

Abstract:A magnetic suspension linear feed device has been introduced in this paper, it is consist of linear motion and suspension parts. The mathematical model of suspension system is modeled. Aiming at the suspension part which is an nonlinear and strong coupling system, the auto-disturbance rejection controller (ADRC) is used. The whole process from creating the physical environment to the postprocess after solving is described in detail. Finally a design example for magnetic field of momentum wheel is considered.
