Research progress of orange peel defect during stretch forming of aircraft skin

Abstract:The aircraft skin is usually produced by stretching process.In production practice, orange peel defect often appears on skin surface,which is called orange peel phenomenon. The formation of orange peel defects is related to the microcosmic inhomogeneity,texture and the interaction of neighboring grains,which are influenced by many factors,such as strain,strain path,grain size,lattice structure and grain orientation of the material.In this study,various aspects of orange peel defects,which includes disadvantage,formation mech-anism,influence factor,process optimization,etc.were summarized.Furthermore,re-search topics of orange peel phenomenon in the future were forecasted.
