Abstract:This paper describes the design of a new-style and high-stability semiconductor laser diode(LD) linear drive power supply, which is able to drive 100 mW to 1.8 W laser diodes and the output current can be continuously adjustable from 0 A to 2.5 A. The current stability obtained in the LD driver circuit is superior to 0.30/00. In the design we have innovative ideas of the soft-start circuit, the current-limiting circuit with special rated-current setting function, the surge ripple prevention and filter circuit,especially enhance the stability and security of the power drive system. Such design will be found wide applications in the fields of teaching, scientific research and production.

Abstract:Laser diodes are preferred light sources for compact non-scanning imaging laser radar systems due to their small volume and easiness to be integrated. Therefore, lots of present studies focus on research of modulation characteristics of highpower laser diodes. A high-frequency modulated driver for a compact non-scanning imaging laser radar system is described in this paper. It is based on linear constant current theory and can modulate a high power laser diode quasi-continuously. A high-speed operational amplifier is used to drive a power MOSFET, which can take full advantages of the power MOSFET–low driver current and good dynamic characteristics. In addition, an operational amplifier and PI (Proportion-Integration) control are applied in a negative feedback network to improve the current stability further. In order to avoid damaging the laser diode, a slow start circuit and over-current protection circuit have also been designed. The maximum current of the over-current protection circuit can be set according to the requirement. In addition, the power supply can also be switched between CW and QCW operating modes. When the high power semiconductor laser is modulated by large signal, some nonlinear effects will occur such as turn-on delay, relaxation oscillation and modulation chirp. Some theoretical analysis and experimental research on some nonlinear effects have also been done. Experimental results are consistent with theoretical analysis by using this driver for a 1W GaAs quantum well laser.

Abstract:We designed and realized a compact laser system of which the frequency can be automatically stabilized.The laser system can operate with low power consumption and long-term stability.The power consumption and the volume of the system are reduced through our designed voltage source with high efficiency and low ripple.With the high-performance temperature controller,current controller and automatic frequency stabilization modules,a laser with narrow linewidth and high frequency stability is realized.The linewidth is about 1 MHz,and the frequency stabilities at 1,10,100,1000 s are 1.43 × 10-10,3.90 × 10-11,1.28 × 10 11,2.25 × 10-11,respectively.Compared with the commercial external-cavity diode lasers,the designed system has better long-term frequency stability.The volume of the power supply for the system is reduced by 85％,and the power consumption is reduced by 90％.The system is a new scheme for realizing low power consumption and miniaturization of the frequencystabilized semiconductor laser system.

Abstract:Based on the requirement of the DPL laser with high stability and lownoise to laser diode(LD) driver,a high stable LD driver was developed.The LD driver had a maximal current of 7A and slow turn-on protection circuit and current overload protection circuit.The mechanism of highly stable driver and the main factors which may influence the current stability were analyzed.The current stability obtained in the LD driver is 2.0×10-4.This LD driver was used in a high stable DPL laser.The power stability of the laser is within 4‰ in 3.5 hours.

Abstract:A digital control current supply is designed for driving semiconductor lasers by taking the TMS320F28335 as a control center,which consists of a guiding light module,a phonetic module,a liquid-crystal display(LCD) module and a keyboard module.The phonetic module and light module are responsible for prompting the working condition of the system,the LCD is used to show the actual current and setting current,and the keyboard module is taken to control the start-up,turn-off,current setting and current adjustment.In circuit design,the deep feedback theory is researched to greatly enhance the stability and two MOSFET are designed to neutralize their own leakage current,decrease the current deviation(less than 0.5%) and optimize the linear dependence between voltage and current.In software design,the PID algorithm is employed to shorten the time to establish dynamic equilibrium for the system.The system can provide complete protective measures,such as surge-prevent,power on/off-prevent,time delay soft start,over current protection for ensuring the LD to work stably and reliably.During the driving test,the LD can work in a steady state without center wavelength drifting and driving current fluctuation.

Abstract:In order to drive linear high-power laser diode, we design a new-style and high-efficiency linear power supply and the temperature controlling system, achieving a high-stability current output from 0 to 6A, whose current ripple is less than 1%. Innovative design of the rectifier mode switch circuit, voltage feedback networks, the soft-switch anti-surge filter circuit and over-current protection circuits with special current-locking function, greatly enhance the efficiency, stability and security of drive system. We also design a temperature controlling system base on the PID algorithm with over-heating protection circuit. Its control range is 0 - 35 degrees C with a controlling precision of 0.1 degrees C.

Abstract:According to the principle of the laser diode (LD) power supply, this paper uses the chip-MAX797 as a stabilized driven-current source to design the circuit. And the output current of the source can reach 4 A, its output voltage can be adjustable between 2.5V and 6V. The efficiency of the drive circuit is up to 96%, and the shutdown current is only 1 mu A. Then make the necessary analysis about the design of the circuit. The whole circuit diagram is made up of three parts which there are an invariable driven-current source, a programmable soft-start circuit and a protection circuit of the over current and the restrained ripple. The adapter supplies the input voltage which is between 4.5V and 30V. And it adds a resistance to limit the current of the LD at last. The theory of this circuit's design is simple, and the function is as much as the conventional, but its size is smaller than the conventional driven-current source. Then summarize the advantages and disadvantages of the soft-start circuit between this paper and the traditional, and corresponding to analysis of the components selecting, it used the preferred components in the design of the circuit. Finally, there is a summary and expectation in high-power laser diode power supply design in the future.

Abstract:High power semiconductor laser is a kind of photoelectric device with high efficiency and high stability, the performance of its drive system directly affects its output characteristics and service life. In order to solve the problems of stability and robustness of the output power of the semiconductor laser, a semiconductor laser driving power supply with high efficiency, low ripple and strong anti-interference ability was developed. In this paper, the topology of the LCC resonant converter is adopted (LCC refers to the type of resonant converter, because its resonator is composed of an inductor L and two capacitors C, it is called LCC resonant converter). The power supply adopts full-bridge LCC resonant power topology. Firstly, a mathematical model is established to analyze the relationship between LCC resonator parameters and output current gain. Secondly, an LCC resonator parameter design method is proposed to reduce the current stress of components, and the variable frequency phase shift (PFM-PWM) composite control strategy and linear active disturbance rejection control (LADRC) algorithm are proposed, which not only ensures the zero voltage (ZVS) conduction of MOS (Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) tube, but also reduces the on-off loss of MOS tube. The PFM-PWM composite control strategy and LADRC algorithm not only improve the power efficiency of the drive power supply, suppress the output current ripple, but also ensure that the output current of the drive power supply is stable when the input voltage, load and parasitic parameters of the circuit change. Finally, the simulation and experimental results show that the power supply can be continuously adjustable in the output current range of 0–40 A, the current ripple is less than 0.8%, and the working efficiency is up to 92%. It has the characteristics of high stability, small ripple, high efficiency, low cost and good robustness.

Abstract:Laser diode is used usually as light source in miniature measuring instrument and communication instrument because of its small volume, high efficiency, simple structure and low price. However, the operation quality of laser diode is intimately correlative with its driving power, and fluctuation of current will changes optical power so that it needs high performance driving power to acquire steady and adjustable output of optical power. A digital adjustable optical power control system of laser diode based on working principle of laser diode is designed in this paper by using SCM control and fuzzy control technology as the core of system with an additional reference signal. The system can well control and display the optical power of laser diode in real time to provide steady and adjustable output of optical power by using intelligent fuzzy control technique.

Abstract:To get pulse laser signal with different power,a numerical control pulse laser driver circuit is designed.Based on the theory of capacitance discharge,a pulse current circuit is designed to get current pulse with high power and narrow width.ARM processor of STM32F103ZET6 model is taken as the core to design the master control system which can control the output power.The hardware was designed and the software was developed and at the same time,the performance of the system was tested.The test results show that under the control of the ARM,the system can adjust the output power with the external button and get a variable power pulse current.

Abstract:Fiber lasers are commonly used in many industrial applications, such as cutting, welding, marking, and additive manufacturing. In a fiber laser system, the driver of a pumping source using a laser diode (LD) module and its dynamic control capability directly affect the performance of the fiber laser system. The commercial design of pumping source drivers for high-power fiber lasers is mainly based on a linear-type DC power supply, which has two major drawbacks, i.e., lower efficiency and bulk. In this regard, this paper proposes for the first time a new design approach with a programmable switching mode laser diode driver using a power semiconductor device (PSD)-based full-bridge phase-shifted (FB-PS) DC-DC converter for driving a 200 W optical power laser diode module. In this paper, the characteristics of a laser diode module and the system configuration of the proposed laser diode driver are first introduced. Then, a current control scheme using the concept of phase angle shifting to achieve a fast dynamic current tracking feature is explained. The proposed current control technique with a fully digital control scheme is then addressed. Next, dynamic mathematical models of the laser diode driver system and controllers are derived, and the quantitative design detail of the controller is presented. To confirm the correctness of the proposed control scheme, a simulation study on a typical control case is performed in PSIM 9.1 software environment. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed LD driver, a digital signal processor is then used as the control core to construct a hardware prototype implementation for performing experimental tests. Results obtained from simulation and hardware tests show highly satisfactory driving performances in the laser diode's output current command tracking control.

Abstract:A DC-10Mb/s laser diode driver,compatible with TTL and CMOS levels,is presented. The optical power corre-sponding to '1' and '0' can be set independently with resistors off-chip and stabilized with a closed loop. A novel peak-to-peak optical power monitor and stabilization mechanism is introduced. The circuit,fabricated in a CSMC 0. 5μm mixed sig-nal CMOS process, can provide 120mA maximum drive current and 0. 6dB extinction ration fluctuation over - 20～ + 80℃, which is independent of input pattern.

Abstract:In the first, show the important factors that influence the working condition and service life of the laser diode. Then, aim at the stability and reliability of the current, brought forward a dual feedback constant current driving plan based on deeply negative feedback theory and PID algorithm. Utilizing deeply negative feedback theory to strengthen the stability of system, decrease nonlinear distortion, expand the bandwidth and enhance the load capacity of the system. Analyze the reason of bias current in the past laser driving system's design, and posed an improvement. In ripple reject circuit, through the capacitance change using MOSFET, utilize a small capacitor to bring in the filtering effect of a big capacitor. Design and realize a power supply filter network which has a very low ripple coefficient and soft turn-on/off circuit, they secure the working of the laser.

Abstract:This paper mainly introduces a pulse power supply for high-power semiconductor laser diode arrays with a novel micro-current pre-start control method. According to the operating characteristics of the semiconductor laser, the output current of the pulse power supply is required to be smooth, stable, and without overshoot. In the method of normal direct pulse start control, semiconductor laser is damaged easily by the overshoot and oscillation of pulse current caused by the switching threshold voltage of MOSFET. And the time delay between the current reference signal and the output pulse current makes the design of closed loop more complicated. Based on the above problems, the method of micro-current pre-start control is proposed. The method is simple to operate and it can solve the nonlinear problem of MOSFET caused by the switching threshold voltage. Therefore, it solve the problems of time delay between the current reference signal and the output pulse current and the overshoot and oscillation of output pulse current in the rising process. A 25.6-kW prototype is intended for verifying the effectiveness of the micro-current pre-start control.

Abstract:A pulsed laser diode driving power for laser fuze has been designed,which was portable,high repetition rate,short rising time,narrow pulse width and high power.an extremely fast and high-power MOSFET is applied in the driving circuit as the switch to provide the laser diode with pulse of high repetition rate(20kHz),short rising time(3.4ns),narrow pulse width(7.2ns) and high power(30W)when the highest value of the charge voltage was limited to 24 V.All these excellent characteristics provide guarantee for improving the precision of distance measurement efficiently and anti-interference capability in laser fuze.

Abstract:We present a low-noise, high modulation-bandwidth design for a laser current driver with excellent long term stability. The driver improves upon the commonly-used Hall-Libbrecht design. The current driver can be operated remotely by way of a micro-processing unit, which controls the current set point digitally. This allows precise repeatability and improved accuracy and stability. It also allows the driver to be placed near the laser for reduced noise and for lower phase lag when using the modulation input. We present the theory of operation for our driver in detail, and give a thorough characterization of its stability, noise, set point accuracy and repeatability, temperature dependence, transient response, and modulation bandwidth.

Abstract:In this paper, the circuit design of 1470nm pumped laser required by fiber Raman amplifier is carried out, which solves the problem that the output optical power and wavelength of the laser are easily affected by temperature and drive current fluctuations. Compared with the existing circuit design, the circuit design in this paper simplifies the circuit topology structure, reduces the cost, ensures the working stability, and broadens the working linear area of constant current source. The current 1A is continuously adjustable, and the maximum relative error of current in one hour is 0.03% at 25°C. A chipset MAX1978 is adopted to realize temperature control, and the temperature control precision reaches 0.01°C. Finally, a high-precision semiconductor laser driving system with power supply of 5V and driving current of 1A is realized.
