Abstract:High-energy-density fuels are critical for supersonic aerospace propulsion, but they suffer from the difficulties of ignition and low level of combustion completion. This research reports Pt and Pd nanoparticles (NPs)-assisted ignition and combustion of a high-energy-density JP-10 fuel. Pt and Pd NPs in the 2 to 8 nm size range were synthesized and dispersed in JP-10 to form homogeneous suspended mixtures. The mixtures were stable for over two years, and the Pt and Pd NPs did not precipitate after high speed centrifugation. The presence of Pt and Pd NPs almost had no influence on the viscosity and density of the JP-10 fuel samples, and both the Pt NPs/JP-10 and Pd NPs/JP-10 fuels showed good low temperature viscosities. The shock tube test results showed that Pt and Pd NPs can effectively improve the ignition and combustion performances of JP-10 fuel because Pt and Pd NPs can reduce the apparent ignition activation energy of JP-10. In comparison with the apparent activation energy of pure JP-10 fuel, the apparent ignition activation energy for 100 ppm Pt NPs contained JP-10 showed a decrease of 54%. For 100 ppm Pd NPs dispersed JP-10 fuel, a 76% activation energy reduction was observed. The results of oxygen bomb calorimetric testing have confirmed that the combustion completion level of Pt and Pd NPs participated JP-10 fuels increases with the increasing NPs concentration at a high coefficient between 1 and 1.8. The 100 ppm Pd NPs suspended JP-10 fuel was found with the highest heat of combustion at a high coefficient beyond 1.8.

Abstract:With a high demand for high-performance spacecraft, the development of new nanofluid fuels has become a major opportunity and challenge. As solid–liquid hybrid fuels, the combustion of nanofluid fuels is affected by various factors and the combustion performance needs to be improved. In this paper, the JP10/boron (B)-based nanofluid fuel droplets containing polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) with 10 mass% nB/PTFE content were prepared by a mechanical mixing method, and their combustion characteristics were investigated, especially the droplet behavior and flame characteristics. Additionally, the effects of nano-sized boron (nB) and nano-sized polytetrafluoroethylene (nPTFE) on the oxygen consumption and reaction characteristics of droplets at different combustion stages were also analyzed. The combustion process of the JP10/B-based nanofluid fuel droplets with nPTFE addition is mainly defined as four stages, namely ignition stage, mixed combustion stage, secondary combustion stage, and boron burning stage. The addition of a small amount of nPTFE to the JP10/B-based nanofluid fuel does not reduce the ignition delay time of the droplet, but the combustible gas products such as CO and CF4 generated by the reaction between nB and nPTFE in the mixed combustion stage can destroy the droplet strongly and enhance the combustion of JP10, so the combustion time of the JP10/B-based nanofluid fuel droplets with nPTFE addition in this stage is shortened by 10.1% compared with that of the JP10/B-based nanofluid fuel droplets. In addition, nPTFE destroys the boron surface oxide layer and improves the combustion efficiency of boron particles, and the maximum burning intensity of droplets can be increased by 47%. The particle size of condensate combustion products is reduced by 85% because the gases generated split the agglomerates into small fragments.

Abstract:Experiments of high temperature pyrolysis and soot formation analysis on JP-10, one of the representatives of fuels, were conducted in order to analyze its properties and help construct its chemical kinetic mechanism. High-temperature pyrolysis and fuel-rich oxidation experiments were carried out on JP-10 fuel under different conditions using two types of shock tube equipment (SPST and HPST). The pyrolysis experiments were carried out in two working conditions with JP-10 concentrations of 200 ppm and 500 ppm (in Ar). Quantitative analyses of JP-10 pyrolysis products were carried out using gas chromatography, and a total of eight small molecule products below C4 were detected. Among these eight products, methane, ethene, and acetylene were the three main products. In the fuel-rich oxidation experiments for soot formation analysis, a total of nine working conditions were designed, but soot formation was detected only under three of them. The soot induction delay time and soot yield of JP-10 were investigated using laser absorption measurement. The SYmax (the maximum amount of soot yield) and other relevant parameters were investigated under these three different working conditions. At a pressure of 3 bar and a temperature of 1884.10 K, the soot yield reached a maximum of 14.3. In addition to practical insights from these data, they were also useful for the construction and validation of the chemical kinetic mechanism of JP-10.

Abstract:For thermal management in advanced hypersonic aircraft, a series of platinum/hydrocarbon nanofluids with hyperbranched polymer as stabilizer and initiator were designed in this work. Hydrocarbon-dispersible Pt nanoparticles capped by modified hyperbranched polyethyleneimine (Pt@HPEI) with average sizes of 2.4 nm were synthesized through phase transfer method. For methylcyclohexane (MCH) based nanofluids (MCH + Pt@ HPEI), the density showed no difference and the viscosity decreased by 2.0% compared to MCH. The catalytic cracking of MCH + Pt@ HPEI carried out in a batch reactor presented significant improvement compared to thermal cracking. The supercritical cracking experiments operated on a tubular reactor proved the promoted performance of nanofluids by conversions, gas yields and heat sinks. At 650 degrees C, the conversion of MCH increased from 12.4 wt% to 33.0 wt% and the heat sink enhanced from 1.99 MJ/kg to 2.24 MJ/kg with the existence of 0.0060 wt% Pt@HPEI. To acquire the same heat sink of 2.10 MJ/kg, the temperature can be lowered from 664 degrees C to 642 degrees C. The reactions forming hydrogen and unsaturated hydrocarbons were preferred. The practical application for the cracking of JP-10 + Pt@HPEI also showed enhanced performance. Platinum/hydrocarbon nanofluids with hyperbranched polymer as stabilizer and initiator are potential fuels with promoted cracking performance and endothermic capacity for thermal management in advanced hypersonic aircraft.

Abstract:A CO2 laser ignition system was used to ignite the pure JP-10 (endo-Tetrahydrodicyclopentadiene, C10H16) and aluminum (Al)/JP-10 nanofluid droplet. Online combustion diagnosis and combustion residue analysis were combined to study the effect of solid content and atmosphere on the ignition and combustion characteristics of the Al/JP-10 nanofluid droplet. The combustion process of JP-10 can be divided into three stages, namely, ignition, steady burning, and extinguishment, while the combustion process of Al/JP-10 nanofluid can be divided into four stages, namely, ignition, mixed burning, mass burning, and extinguishment. Aluminum nanoparticles can effectively improve the volume calorific value of fuel. With the increase in solid content, the ignition time of the droplet is significantly shortened and the combustion intensity is increased. However, the increase of solid content introduces particle agglomeration problems, which decreases the oxidation degree of Al nanoparticles. Compared with air, the intensity of droplet combustion increases significantly in oxygen atmosphere. The highest combustion temperature of the fuel droplet with a solid content of 10% reached 1843 °C, the oxidation efficiency of the residues increased significantly, and the combustion efficiency of aluminum particles reached 99.26%.

Abstract:This study focuses on the experimental laminar flame speeds and the combustion kinetics of JP-10. Laminar flame speeds of JP-10/air mixtures were measured in a constant volume combustion bomb at a temperature of 420 K, with the pressure of 0.1 and 0.3 MPa and the equivalence ratio of 0.7–1.3. A chemical kinetic model of JP-10 combustion consisting of 189 species and 1287 reactions was developed and was validated using the laminar flame speeds measured here and many literature data (including the ignition delay times and the species files of JP-10 oxidation in a shock tube). The model developed in this work is the combination of a JP-10 sub-mechanism and a core mechanism. Based on the detailed mechanisms developed by Gao et al. and Vandewiele et al., the JP-10 sub-mechanism consisting of 38 species ≥ C5 was developed by path flux analysis and lumping methods. The core mechanism is an extension of the USC MECH II mechanism developed by Wang et al., in which the sub-mechanisms of cyclopentene and benzene taken from other references were added. To further understand the combustion characteristics, kinetic analyses were carried out using the model developed in this work. Results show that the decomposition pathways of the initial products mainly generate the small molecules (e.g., methyl, ethene, allyl), the cyclic C5 alkenes represented by cyclopentene and cyclopentadiene, and the aromatics represented by benzene and toluene. Sensitivity analyses show that each decomposition pathway has a different effect on the global reaction rate because of their different tendencies to generate reactive and resonance stabilized radicals.

Catalytic Cracking of JP-10 on Zeolite ZSM-5

Abstract:The catalytic cracking of JP-10, one kind of high-density hydrocarbon fuel, over ZSM-5 molecular sieves was investigated. Compared with thermal cracking of JP-10, the conversion ratio of the catalytic cracking in the temperature range from 500 to 650 degrees C is evidently enhanced. The predominant products of the catalytic cracking are methane, ethane, ethylene, propane, propylene, benzene and benzenoid hydrocarbons. It was found that indene and naphthalene, which have harmful effects on the combustion property, were produced because of the hydrogen transfer reaction at high temperatures. High conversion ratio and low content of aromatics could not be obtained simultaneously. In combination of the determined products with the quantum calculation, the reaction mechanism of the catalytic cracking of JP-10 was discussed. The results can be reasonably explained from the proposed mechanism.
An Experimental Investigation of Supersonic Combustion of Cracked JP-10

Abstract:In this paper, a novel two-stage hydrocarbon fuel heating and delivery system was used to more accurately simulate the state of fuel in the cooling channel of the regenerative cooling engine. Different cracking degrees (9-23%) experiments of JP-10 were conducted by using the new heating system, and cracked products were sampled and analyzed. The ignition delay time of high cracking degree product is shorter than that of low cracking degree product. The laminar flame speed of JP-10 and low cracking degree products are similar, the laminar flame speed of high cracking degree products is 32% faster than that of JP-10 when the equivalence ratio is 1.0, and the laminar flame speed of surrogate gas fuel is two times faster than that of JP-10. The supersonic combustion experiments of JP-10 with different cracking degrees and equivalence ratios were also employed at Mach number 3.0 of the isolator entrance, with total temperature-1550 K, total pressure-1.5 MPa, as well as at Mach number 2.5 of the isolator entrance, with total temperature-1250 K, total pressure-0.78 MPa, respectively. The static pressure along the axis of combustor was measured, while the velocity and temperature of the airflow at the exit of combustor were also measured by the tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS). The distributions of airflow velocity, total temperature and static temperature along the combustor with different conditions were analyzed through a one-dimensional analysis method. The deviations of velocity and temperature of the airflow are less than-4% and-5% for Mach number 3.0, and less than 9% and 4% for Mach number 2.5, which indicates the calculations are in accordance with the TDLAS detections to some extent at Mach 3.0. Specially, supersonic combustion of JP-10 with different cracking degree at the same fuel tem-perature and equivalence ratio were obtained, which benefits studying the influence of different cracking degrees fuel on supersonic combustion characteristics. Furthermore, the experimental data will be helpful for validating the simulation of supersonic combustion.

Abstract:JP-10 is a high-density hydrocarbon fuel known for its exceptional comprehensive properties and wide usage in scramjets and detonation engines. Previous research has successfully enhanced the ignition susceptibility and reduced the concentration of incomplete combustion products in JP-10 liquid fuel through the inclusion of diethyl ether (DEE) and propylene oxide (PO). However, it is worth mentioning that the density and bulk calorific value of hydrocarbons do not continuously increase with the addition of ring structures. As density rises, the fuel's low-temperature properties gradually deteriorate. Therefore, a novel solution is proposed: incorporating metal dust with a higher combustion calorific value to augment the energy density of the mixed fuel. This study explores the combustion and detonation properties of multiphase mixed fuels obtained by introducing flake aluminum powder to the JP-10/PO mixture. Furthermore, a multiphase chemical reaction kinetics mechanism for JP-10/PO/Al is developed. Adding aluminum powder accelerates the initial stages of JP-10/PO explosion, but it also intensifies incomplete combustion in the liquid phase mixed fuel under anaerobic conditions, causing significant smoke release. Additionally, the inclusion of aluminum powder prolongs the ignition delay time of the multiphase reaction system, intensifies the reaction, and increases the heat release rate. The coupling mechanism between aluminum powder and JP-10/PO primarily involves cross reactions with free radicals such as O, OH, and H. Moreover, the release of reaction heat from aluminum powder affects the gas-phase elementary reaction rate. Furthermore, as the aluminum content increases, the cracking or oxidation reactions of certain hydrocarbon macromolecules to produce smaller molecules become less sensitive to C2H4 and CH2O components, while the oxidation reaction of aluminum particles weakens the original hydrocarbon macromolecule cracking or oxidation reaction.

Abstract:In order to investigate the initiation mechanisms and kinetics associated with the pyrolysis of JP-10 (exo-tricyclo[5.2.1.0(2,6)]decane), a single-component hydrocarbon jet fuel, we carried out molecular dynamics (MD) simulations employing the ReaxFF reactive force field. We found that the primary decomposition reactions involve either (1) dissociation of ethylene from JP-10, resulting in the formation of a C(8) hydrocarbon intermediate, or (2) the production of two C(5) hydrocarbons. ReaxFF MD leads to good agreement with experiment for the product distribution as a function of temperature. On the basis of the rate of consumption of JP-10, we calculate an activation energy of 58.4 kcal/mol for the thermal decomposition of this material, which is consistent with a strain-facilitated C-C bond cleavage mechanism in JP-10. This compares well with the experimental value of 62.4 kcal/mol. In addition, we carried out ReaxFF MD studies of the reactive events responsible for oxidation of JP-10. Here we found overall agreement between the thermodynamic energies obtained from ReaxFF and quantum-mechanical calculations, illustrating the usefulness of ReaxFF for studying oxidation of hydrocarbons. The agreement of these results with available experimental observations demonstrates that ReaxFF can provide useful insights into the complicated thermal decomposition and oxidation processes of important hydrocarbon fuels.
Combustion Characteristics and Application Performance of JP-10/Nano-Sized Aluminum Gel-Fueled Scramjet

Abstract:Using nano-sized energetic materials as fuel additives to hydrocarbon gel fuel has gained in popularity due to the advantages of higher energy density and shorter ignition delay times. Combustion characteristics and application performance of gel fuel containing 16% wt aluminum nanoparticles were investigated on a direct-connect scramjet platform with an inflow Mach number of 2, an inflow total temperature of 1700 K, and a fuel equivalence ratio ranging from 0.6 to 1.0. The gel fuel could be stably injected and atomized efficiently by a nitrogen-assisted injector. The combustion efficiency of JP-[Formula: see text]Al gel fuel was 4.27% higher than that of JP-10 gel fuel, while the addition of aluminum increased the density specific impulse by 6.34%, indicating that the addition of aluminum nanoparticles indeed presented a positive effect on combustion and engine performance. The wall deposition phenomenon of gel fuel was particularly slight as compared to that of slurry fuel cases. Unlike nanoaluminum-blended slurry fuel, nanoaluminum-blended gel fuel controlled the potential risk of increasing thermal load to the least degree within the scope of existing research, with wall heat flux increasing by 7.43% solely as a result of elevated airflow temperature, indicating its advantageous application prospect.

Abstract:In this work, the laminar flame speeds of JP-10/air mixtures and ignition delay time of JP-10/O 2 /Ar mixtures have been studied over a wide range of experimental conditions using a premixed Bunsen flame and a shock tube. Laminar flame speed measurements of the JP-10/air mixture were measured at T = 360–453 K, φ = 0.7–1.3 and p = 1 atm. The ignition delay times of JP-10 with fuel mole fraction of 0.2% JP-10/2.8% O 2 /97% Ar were measured with a heated shock tube behind the reflected shock wave at 1183–1478 K and pressure of 3.4 atm. Numerical calculation and sensitivity analysis of the laminar flame speed and ignition delay time of JP-10 were performed by using published detailed and skeletal kinetic mechanisms. The comparison of experimental and numerical results showed that all models tend to overestimate the laminar flame speed under the studied conditions, especially under lower temperature conditions (360–423 K). A temperature dependency empirical correlation of laminar flame speed was then proposed by power law theory. The sensitivity analysis identified three important reactions [H+O 2 = O+OH, C 5 H 5 +H (+M) = C 5 H 6 (+M), C 3 H 3 +C 2 H 2 = C 5 H 5 ] that determined the laminar flame speed and ignition delay time.

Catalytic Cracking of JP-10 over HZSM-5 Nanosheets

Abstract:Catalytic cracking of JP-10 is an important technology to improve its cooling capacity (or heat sink). Two HZSM-5 zeolite nanosheets with Si/Al molar ratios of 25 and 50 (ZNS-25 and ZNS-50) and thicknesses of about 2.0 nm were synthesized. The catalytic cracking of JP-10 (at 500 degrees C with a weight hourly space velocity = 22.56 h(-1)) over ZNS-25 gave a conversion of 45.33%, which is 77% higher than that obtained over a conventional HZSM-5 catalyst (CZ-25, 25.54%), and the deactivation rate was relatively low (two-thirds that of CZ-25). Characterization of the catalysts using ammonia temperature-programmed desorption measurements and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy indicated that the better catalytic performance may be attributed to more Bronsted acid sites on the external surface, which is favorable for the larger molecules (like JP-10), and higher accessibility of acid sites in the micropores of HZSM-5 nanosheets due to the shorter diffusion path (less than 2.0 nm). The enhanced diffusion of JP-10 over HZSM-5 nanosheets also leads to high olefin yields, and better coking tolerance through prevention of secondary reactions.
Strategically Designed Macromolecules As Additives for High Energy-Density Hydrocarbon Fuels

Abstract:To improve oxidative stability and heat sink of hydrocarbon fuels, a series of versatile macromolecular additives, BHPEI and CBHPEI, were synthesized by modification of hyperbranched poly(ethyleneimine) (HPEI). These macromolecules were used as circumstance-dependent additives in JP-10, a high energy-density hydrocarbon fuel. Each strategically designed macromolecule serves not only as a radical scavenger to improve the thermal-oxidative stability of hydrocarbon fuels at relatively low temperature, but also as a cracking initiator for heat sink enhancement as the temperature rises. According to the ASTM E1858, with the addition of BHPEI-10K at 500 ppm, the oxidation induction time of JP-10 under 175 degrees C could increase from 9.3 min to 14.8 min. The insoluble deposits could be reduced by 73% with the addition of 500 ppm BHPEI-10K according to accelerated oxidation tests. The superior antioxidation capability of macromolecular antioxidants were further elucidated by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Furthermore, the BHPEI-10K performed decently as a macromolecular initiator for supercritical cracking of JP-10, with a dosage of 0.1 wt%, the conversion of JP-10 at 675 degrees C can be elevated from 16.4% to 33.4% and the corresponding heat sink can be improved from 1.98 MJ/kg to 2.15 MJ/kg.

Abstract:Three different kinds of palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs) modified by octadecanethiol, octadecylamine, and mixture of them have been prepared, which are simply marked as Pd@S, Pd@N and Pd@S&N in turn. The average diameters of Pd NPs are 1-3 nm. The Pd NPs can be well-dispersed in decalin and kerosene. The properties of the kerosene-based nanofluids, such as viscosities, thermal conductivities and stabilities are determined. The pyrolysis of decalin-based nanofluids containing Pd NPs is carried out in a batch reactor from 440 to 470 degrees C. The order of the catalytic ability for three Pd NPs is: Pd@N > Pd@S&N > Pd@S. The catalytic abilities of Pd NPs for pyrolysis of decalin are ascribed to the combined effects of Pd and its ligands. Based on GC analysis results, the major gaseous products are found to be methane, ethane, ethylene, propane and propylene. The liquid products contain aromatic, cycloalkene, cycloalkane, and chain hydrocarbons. The amount of chain hydrocarbons is small at different reaction temperatures, which means ring-opening reaction is difficult to occur during the pyrolysis of decalin. The formation of aromatic results from the dehydrogenation and condensation of cycloalkene induced by the secondary reaction at relatively high temperatures. For a comprehensive evaluation of the thermal conductivity, stability and catalytic ability, Pd@S&N is the most potential additive for the hydrocarbon fuel to prepare an advanced propellant with high stability, thermal conductivity and cooling ability. Effect and Mechanism of Different Surfactants on the Stability of the Al/JP-10 Nanofluid Fuel System

Abstract:Al/JP-10 nanofluid fuel is a novel energetic blended fuel with a high application prospect, but it suffers from agglomeration and sedimentation during the storage process. To improve the stability of Al/JP-10 nanofluid fuel systems, aluminum nanoparticles modified with different surfactants were prepared by a liquid-phase reflux method. The stability of the fuel systems was characterized based on the sedimentation method, while the isothermal adsorption process and adsorption energy of surfactants on the surface of the aluminum nanoparticles were simulated using a molecular dynamics approach. The effects of the carbon chain length, unsaturated bonding, and adsorbent structure of surfactant molecules on the stability of the fuel system were examined for the first time from a molecular perspective. The adsorbent structure had the most significant effect on the stability of the fuel system, followed by the unsaturated bond. A cross-sectional comparison of commonly used Span-system surfactants revealed that Span-65modified aluminum nanoparticles (1 wt %) were highly stable, and no significant settling was observed within 4 weeks of stabilization. The mechanism by which Span-65 improves the stability of the fuel system is proposed.

Abstract:The surface tension of a liquid fuel is an important parameter in the fuel atomization process. B/JP-10 nanofluid fuels with different particle concentrations (5 mass%, 10 mass%, 15 mass% and 20 mass%) were prepared by selecting 100 nm, 300 nm and 500 nm B particles by a two-step method, in which Tween-85 was used as a surfactant. The surface tension of the above nanofluid fuels was tested at different temperatures (10–90 ℃) using the platinum plate method to investigate the effects of surfactant, temperature, particle concentration and temperature on the surface tension of B/JP-10 nanofluid fuels. The results show that the addition of surfactants helps to reduce the surface tension of the nanofluid fuel. The surface tension of the nanofluid fuel is higher than that of pure JP-10 and increases with increasing particle concentration and decreases with increasing particle size. The surface tension of the suspended fuel decreases linearly with increasing temperature in a certain temperature range (10–60 °C).

Abstract:Energetic particles have been used in solid propellant to increase the energy content, but for liquid fuel, the addition of such particles is still challenging because of severe particle precipitation. Here we demonstrate the possibility of adding surface-modified boron nanoparticles (NPs) in jet fuel JP-10. Trioctylphosphine oxide is very effective to stabilize NPs by inhibiting the contact and agglomeration. After 6 weeks, 12.7wt% NPs are still dispersed in fuel, which increases the density and volumetric energy from 0.93g/mL and 39.4MJ/L to 0.98g/mL and 43.4MJ/L, respectively. The suspension flows freely like liquid fuel and has relatively low viscosity at low temperature.

Abstract:In situ combustion of heavy oil is currently the most suitable thermal method that meets energy consumption and carbon dioxide emission requirements for heavy oil recovery. The combustion catalyst needs to perform multiple roles for application; it should be capable of catalyzing heavy oil combustion at high temperatures, as well as be able to migrate in the geological formation for injection. In this work, a hyperbranched polymer composite nanometal fluid was used as the injection vector for a heavy oil in situ combustion catalyst, which enabled the catalyst to rapidly migrate to the surface of the oil phase in porous media and promoted heavy oil cracking deposition at high temperatures. Platinum (Pt) nanoparticles encapsulated with cetyl-hyperbranched poly(amide-amine) (CPAMAM), with high interfacial activity, were synthesized by a facile phase-transfer method; the resulting material is called Pt@CPAMAM. Pt@CPAMAM has good dispersion, and as an aqueous solution, it can reduce the interfacial tension between heavy oil and water. As a catalyst, it can improve the conversion rate during the pyrolysis of heavy oil in a nitrogen atmosphere. The catalyst structure designed in this study is closer to that exhibited in practical geological formation applications, making it a potential method for preparing catalysts for use in heavy oil in situ combustion to resolve the problem of catalyst migration in the geological formation.

Abstract:JP-10 is the most widely used petroleum based fuel in military aircraft due to its high energy density and excellent cryogenic properties. However, the high price and low availability limit its application in civil aviation. Herein, JP-10 analogues fuel was first synthesized via one-pot Diels-Alder/hydrodeoxygenation reaction using biomass-derived furans and petroleum-derived norbornene. Hβ zeolite with Si/Al ratio of 25 exhibits the best catalytic performance (yield of 75.9 %) for Diels-Alder reaction ascribed to its large surface area and high acid concentration, especially the high ratio of Brønsted/Lewis acid sites. Kinetics research indicates that Diels-Alder reaction of norbornene and 2-methylfuran shows the apparent activation energy of 45.67 kJ/mol, much lower than that of norbornene dimerization (52.48 kJ/mol) and 2-methylfuran trimerization (63.61 kJ/mol). Importantly, the synthesized fuel has much higher density, volumetric neat heat of combustion and better cryogenic viscosity (0.943 g mL−1, 40.39 MJ/L and 12.9 mm2 s−1 at −40 °C) than classic JP-10 fuel (0.936 g mL−1, 39.41 MJ/L and 18.6 mm2 s−1 at −40 °C). This work provides an efficient and promising route to produce high-performance JP-10 fuel alternatives through co-conversion of biomass and petroleum derivatives.
