Abstract:The Mobile Internet is an integrated product of the traditional internet and mobile communications, and represents one of the most rapidly growing IT fields for the current and a long period of time.However, data show that the global mobile internet is still in its infancy, there exist many problems to be solved and clarified.This paper first outlines the basic concept of the mobile internet, including its definition, features, and architecture.Then, based on the current architecture, we discussed in detail the research status, problems, and solutions of its various components, including mobile terminals, access network, applications and services, as well as security and privacy.Finally, future research and development trends of cloud computing were discussed.

Abstract:Qos of broadband network is important. ISPs have some methods for evaluate it. But they are not efficient enough. This paper present a new method in which delay and scale of windows of TCP messages are used for evaluating performance of broadband. Comparison between delay or scale of window s of samples is the core idea of the method. There are two kinds of comparison. One is absolute terms of above-mentioned indexes, another is score, that is relative term. We can grade samples according to their scores. It is helpful for locating probably fault situation for ISPs.

Abstract:After over forty years' development in an extraordinary speed, the Internet is confronting profoundly different social and economic environments, with the continuously increasing users demands. However, the essence and key designs of the current Internet have remained untouched during the past decades. Over the same years, Internet users have been calling for a better Internet that features significantly improved flexibility, security, mobility and manageability etc. Entering the twenty-first century, researchers from major economies have paid considerable attention to the design and evaluation of the Future Internet, supported by national large-scale efforts such as FIND (Future Internet Design)([1]) in U. S., FIRE (Future Internet Research & Experimentation)([2]) in EU, AKARI in Japan as well as other research programs. Recognizing the significance of those four expected features mentioned before, this paper states a review of major, significant research programs of the Future Internet and presents a brief indication of possible trends in this field.

Abstract:Network measurement and evaluation is one of important means for dealing with network theory researches, management and engineer development. In this paper, evolution of IP network measurement is reviewed at first. Then, basic concepts and various technologies of network measurement are introduced, including active performance measurement, passive flow measurement, network tomography and network probe. Afterwards, performance evaluation index and several popular network performance evaluation methods are explored. Finally, brief summarization is given.

Abstract:The need to monitor the health of the global Internet has now become crucial. In this paper, an object-oriented model for network performance monitoring is discussed, which is adopted in the management of China Education Research Network, a national information network of China. The current state of the network performance management model is discussed first, which is helpful in formulating the setting of goals and requirements which a large-scale performance monitoring model must meet. Then an architecture solution to systematize the implementation of Internet monitoring and how it attempts to address these goals and requirements are presented. Finally some examples about how to use this architecture model in real-life network monitoring are given.

Abstract:As the main performance optimization technology of operational networks, Traffic Engineering (TE) has already widely deployed and used in autonomy systems controlled by single ISP. But how to apply TE in an inter-domain environment to improve the whole Internet's performance has not come to an entire solution and implement standards. In this paper, a comprehensive survey on inter-domain TE is given. Intra-domain TE solutions are introduced. Main difficulties in the inter-domain TE research area are summarized. Main possible solutions of inter-domain TE are detailed introduced, including traditional routing protocol (BGP) based solution and MPLS based solution. The advantages and disadvantages of both solutions are discussed. In the end, the future work in this area is discussed.

Abstract:With the rapid development of Internet, network management becomes more and more important. The SNMP network management model is the most widely used management model of TCP/IP-based network. The modularization of documentation and architecture and the enhancement of security, which are addressed in SNMPv3, mean the SNMP network management coming to maturity. In this article, the history of SNMP and typical feature of key versions are introduced, some merits and demerits are presented. And, by conclusion, the authors point out the problems at this stage and further work to be done.

Abstract:With the increase of Internet users and the needs of the user change constantly,the type of application on the Internet is also undergoing rapid changes.Various types of traffic are growing,and the burden of the network becomes worse and worse,so the difficulties of network management have increased.In order to coordinate the relations between application and security,bandwidth growth and business gains,network expansion and user experience,there is a key challenge to the network managers and operators that how to use the appropriate traffic management techniques,such as network application protocol identification and bandwidth management technology.This paper was focus on this,and introduced the basic concepts and key technologies of network traffic management first.Then it introduced the mainstream open source traffic management systems and commercial traffic management systems.Finally,it proposed a collaborative distributed traffic management system,which deployed the traffic management subsystems dispersedly,detected and managed the traffic collaboratively through the analysis and operation center.It could effectively improve the efficiency of network traffic management and the recognition rate of unknown network protocol,and it also could effectively detect and prevent DDoS attacks.

Abstract:The current Internet, which is based on TCP/IP architecture, exposed its inherent shortcomings increasingly in recent years, such as: network management is difficult to deploy, network security issues become more serious, "best effort forwarding" strategy cannot provide QoS that a user needs, and new applications are difficult to deploy, etc. All of these problems cannot be resolved satisfactorily by "putting-patch" way. It is time to redesign and reconstruct the architecture of Internet. Now some new design ideas about future Internet architecture have been put forward. In this paper, some representatives of these ideas are introduced, and their advantages and defects are analyzed. After these analyses, the possible direction for future Internet design in our opinion is pointed out.

Abstract:Current Internet is now facing multiple challenges because of the continuously extending scale and the ever-increasing demands.Especially,information(content) sharing applications such as WWW and P2P have brought tremendous pressure to the Internet and severely affected user experiences,while the ISPs(Internet Server Providers) could do nothing about it.How to make changes on network architectures,protocols and service models to cope with these challenges will be the major trend in future Internet research.Starting from a brief review of the history of Web and statistics of Internet applications,two types of research approaches,namely evolutionary and revolutionary approaches,were presented respectively.Duplicate transmission of same contents consumes large part of bandwidth,thus saving bandwidth and improving the efficiency of content distribution should be the optimization objectives of future Internet research.An on-going project called "asymmetric network architecture for ubiquitous information sharing" was also introduced.This work shows the authors’ vision towards future Internet,that is,the Internet should be able to support information sharing services in a more intelligent and efficient way without bringing heavy traffic.

Abstract:Due to network dynamics, performance tuning is often indispensable in network management. In this paper, we propose MOE, a framework integrating network performance monitoring, optimization and evaluation. This is a trial towards the top-down and systematic management of network performance. We validate MOE based on a typical scenario in the real network environment. Results show that MOE can collect many kinds of network information, based on which it could conduct performance tuning automatically. In addition, MOE has the ability of evaluating the effect during and after performance tuning. Evaluation results are further analyzed and could fed back to provide positive advices to minimize the influence caused by network adjustments and maximize the performance profits.

Abstract:As an important information infrastructure, data center network (DCN) supports numerous distributed applications, such as artificial intelligence training and cloud storage.These applications require the transmission of large amounts of data, and as a result, the demand for performance stability of DCN has been increasing.The performance guarantee of DCN has gained widespread attention from both academia and industry in recent years.Firstly, the main challenges of implementing performance guarantees in DCN were analyzed, and the research directions to improve performance stability were proposed.Secondly, three essential capabilities for a performance-guaranteed DCN were summarized, such as high availability, bandwidth guarantee, and bounded latency.The comparative analysis of the relevant research was provided from multiple perspectives.In the end, the future development trend of the research on the performance guarantee of DCN was looked forward to.

Abstract:The efficiency and the performance of anagement systems is becoming a hot research topic within the networks and services management community. This concern is due to the new challenges of large scale managed systems, where the management plane is integrated within the functional plane and where management activities have to carry accurate and up-to-date information. We defined a set of primary and secondary metrics to measure the performance of a management approach. Secondary metrics are derived from the primary ones and quantifies mainly the efficiency, the scalability and the impact of management activities. To validate our proposals, we have designed and developed a benchmarking platform dedicated to the measurement of the performance of a JMX manager-agent based management system. The second part of our work deals with the collection of measurement data sets from our JMX benchmarking platform. We mainly studied the effect of both load and the number of agents on the scalability, the impact of management activities on the user perceived performance of a managed server and the delays of JMX operations when carrying variables values. Our findings show that most of these delays follow a Weibull statistical distribution. We used this statistical model to study the behavior of a monitoring algorithm proposed in the literature, under heavy tail delays distribution. In this case, the view of the managed system on the manager side becomes noisy and out of date.

Abstract:Performance evaluation is an important theoretical base and support for researches and applications of computer network and system. And it s also an important research direction in communications and computer science. This is a concise overview paper about formal methods for performance evaluation, main research results and development foreground. In this paper we focus on the three methods of FM: Queuing Theory, Stochastic Petri-Net and Stochastic Process Algebra. And we primarily discuss the combinations of different formal methods. At the end of this paper we summarize formal methods for performance evaluation and open up prospects for this area.
