The existence and uniqueness of non-negative solution for this model is obtained by using the fixed point theorem. The existence of optimal control policy is verified by using the minimum principle and compactness. Abstract:The objective of our paper is to investigate the optimal control of semilinear population dynamics system with diffusion using semigroup theory. The semilinear population dynamical model with the nonlocal birth process is transformed into a standard abstract semilinear control system by identifying the state, control, and the corresponding function spaces. The state and control spaces are assumed to be Hilbert spaces. The semigroup theory is developed from the properties of the population operators and Laplacian operators. Then the optimal control results of the system are obtained using the C0-semigroup approach, fixed point theorem, and some other simple conditions on the nonlinear term as well as on operators involved in the model.

Abstract:An optimal control problem is investigated for an abstract semilinear differential equation of the first order in time in a Hilbert space with an unbounded operator and control involved linearly in the right-hand side. The cost functional is assumed to be additively separated with respect to state and control, with a rather general dependence on the state. For this problem, the existence of an optimal control is proved and the properties of the set of optimal controls are established. The author's previous results on the total preservation of unique global solvability (totally global solvability) and on solution estimation for such equations are developed in the context of the nonlinearity of the equation under study. The indicated estimate is found important for the present study. A nonlinear heat equation and a nonlinear wave equation are considered as examples.

Abstract:Optimal control for an elliptic system with pointwise Euclidean norm constraints on the control variables is investigated. First order optimality conditions are derived in a manner that is amenable for numerical realisation. An efficient semismooth Newton algorithm is proposed based on this optimality system. Numerical examples are given to validate the superlinear convergence of the semismooth Newton algorithm.

Abstract:This work is concerned with a kind of optimal control problem for a size-structured biological population model. Well-posedness of the state system and an adjoint system are proved by means of Banach’s fixed point theorem. Existence and uniqueness of optimal control are shown by functional analytical approach. Optimality conditions describing the optimal strategy are established via tangent and normal cones technique. The results are of the first ones for this novel structure.

Abstract:. In this paper, an optimal control problem governed by a class of p-Laplacian elliptic equations is studied. In particular, as no monotonicity assumption is assumed on the nonlinear term, the state equation is non wellposed, which may admit several solutions for one control. To obtain optimality conditions for an optimal pair, the multiplicity and singularity/degeneracy of the state equation need to be handled respectively. For this reason, penalization problems and approximation problems are introduced. Finally the main result is proved by a series of process of taking to the limits.

Abstract:In this article, we investigate the superconvergence of the finite element approximation for optimal control problem governed by nonlinear elliptic equations. The state and co-state are discretized by piecewise linear functions and control is approximated by piecewise constant functions. We give the superconvergence analysis for both the control variable and the state variables. Finally, the numerical experiments show the theoretical results.

Abstract:This paper focuses on optimal control problem for a class of discrete-time nonlinear systems. In practical applications, computation time is a crucial consideration in solving optimal control problem, especially when meeting the real-time requirements of control systems. To address this challenge, this study proposes a novel framework based on the optimal control method. Firstly, the original optimal control problem is transformed into an equivalent optimization problem, which is resolved using the Pontryagin's maximum principle from the perspective of optimal control. Furthermore, explicit formulas for computing both the gradient and hessian matrix of the cost function are proposed. A numerical algorithm with rapid convergence and high efficiency is also provided.
