Abstract:As smartphones continue to increase in popularity, understanding how software processes associated with the smartphone platform differ from the traditional desktop platform is critical for improving user experience and facilitating software development and maintenance. In this paper we focus specifically on differences in bugs and bug-fixing processes between desktop and smartphone software. Our study covers 444,129 bug reports in 88 open source projects on desktop, Android, and iOS. The study has two main thrusts: a quantitative analysis to discover similarities and differences between desktop and smartphone bug reports/processes; and a qualitative analysis where we extract topics from bug reports to understand bugs' nature, categories, and differences between platforms. Our findings include: during 2011--2013, iOS bugs were fixed three times faster compared to Android and desktop; top smartphone bug fixers are more involved in reporting bugs than top desktop bug fixers; and most frequent high-severity bugs are due to build issues on desktop, concurrency on Android, and application logic on iOS. Our study, findings, and recommendations are potentially useful to smartphone researchers and practitioners.

Analysis and Comparison with Android and iPhone Operating System

Abstract:Android is not only a mobile operating system that uses a modified version of the Linux kernel [1][2][3], but also a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. Google, the team led by Rubin developed a mobile device platform powered by the Linux kernel and their main marketing targets were hardware component and software partners with an easy and flexible operating system. On the November 5th in 2007, several companies including Google, HTC, Motorola, Intel and so on came together to form the Open Handset Alliance and stated the goal for developing open standards for mobile devices, meanwhile unveiled the new product: Android, a mobile device platform built on the Linux kernel version 2.6[4]. Android has been available as open-source software since October 2008. Under the Apache License, private companies could add on their own applications and extensions and sell them, without having to submit them to the open-source community [5]. Since its original release, Android has seen a number of updates with fixed bugs and new features. Cupcake (the official 1.5 update), and watch videos with the camcorder mode and enable uploading videos to YouTube and pictures to Picasa directly from the phone. The Cupcake also supports Bluetooth A2DP and can connect to a Bluetooth headset within a certain distance. On 15 September 2009, Donut (the 1.6 SDK) was released. Donut improved Android Market experience and provides an integrated camera, camcorder and gallery interface. It also updated Voice Search to have a faster response time deeper integration with native applications. Search experience and technology support are also updated. The updated version 2.0, Eclair was released on 26 October 2009. It optimized the hardware speed and support for more screen sizes and resolutions. Eclair introduced new browser UI and new contact lists, and provides better white/black ratio for backgrounds. Besides, it built in flash support for Camera and enables the digital zoom. The subsequent version 2.1 is named FroYo and the next update after FroYo will be called Ginerbread.

Abstract:This paper starts with five parts to study the inspiration for developing the Apple mobile phone to Chinese mobile phone enterprises. The first part mainly introduces the research background and significance of this paper, as well as the innovation and shortcomings of this paper. The second part mainly introduces the marketing theory used in this paper - word-of-mouth marketing and marketing model STEPPS. The third part introduces the basic situation of Apple and its development in the Chinese market. The fourth part firstly analyzes the successful marketing of Apple in the Chinese market from the aspects of product price, appearance, operating system, and innovative technology. Secondly, it analyzes the difficulties Chinese mobile phone enterprises face in the current development, from product positioning, marketing strategy, and mastered technology. The fifth part is based on the STEPPS model, comparing and analyzing the marketing strategy differences between Chinese mobile phone companies and Apple and putting forward improvement ideas for Chinese mobile phone companies from six perspectives.

Abstract:Automotive electronics have been developing fast since it came up. It is very common to apply Android system to automotive electronics because its functionality is becoming more and more complicated. However, the open-source nature of Android can cause many safety issues, especially in this area which has very high requirements for system safety and stability. This paper presents a novel methodology which can help to evaluate the performance, stability and safety of Android system used in automotive electronics. It also provides a demonstration show how to use this methodology and how to optimize the Android system based on the evaluation results.

Abstract:Understanding and analyzing the development of technology companies is crucial for the healthy development of the industry. This article takes Apple as an example and focuses on analyzing the current development status and trends of the enterprise based on its financial situation. Intended to address two issues: one is Apple's recent financial performance; Another challenge it will face. This article uses case analysis method and SWOT analysis to focus on exploring the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats faced by an Apple company. The research results indicate that the current financial development status of an Apple company is good, but it still faces some competitive pressure in the future. Although it has certain market advantages, efforts will still be made from both internal and external environmental aspects in the future. This study takes Apple as the research object, and the research conclusions can provide reference value for future researchers. At the same time, it has important practical significance for the healthy development of Apple in the future and better understanding of the development trends of technology companies.

Abstract:With the rapid development of science and technology, electronics continue to emerge, and the market competition is increasingly fierce. Apple, with successful marketing strategies, and strong technical support, emerged among many electronics products, becoming the industry giant. Since Apple launched the App Store, the online application market has been developing rapidly, which not only promotes mobile Internet. The development of the network has changed the revenue structure of mobile value-added services and promoted the re-integration and improvement of the mobile network industry chain. In this stage, how to enter and seize the market better and faster has become the primary problem of Apple. This paper discusses the current market situation of Apple, analyzes the target market selection, and focuses on the main competitive advantages of Apple. Then, by introducing a marketing information management system, a series of marketing channels are organized for Apple and marketing countermeasures. The management system enables to effective implementation of the marketing and promotion plan, as well as evaluation, monitoring, and update of the implementation results in a reasonable and timely manner, laying a good foundation for successful marketing. The work provided valuable advice. Through an in-depth analysis of Apple, people can deeply understand its core competitiveness and enterprise development of the layout of ideas. The paper also provides examples and references for enterprises to optimize their business models.

Abstract:Aiming at the problems of complex data sources, poor management level and blocked market information in the orchard, this paper constructs the index system of apple big data and designs the functional framework and technical framework. Through collecting heterogeneous data sources such as fruit tree cultivation, meteorology, soil, farming work, diseases and pests, market circulation and fruit quality for mining analysis, the big data application system of apple industry is established, which provides apple industry development planning, precise irrigation and fertilization of orchards, apple quality demand analysis, domestic and international marketing risk early warning and other functions for fruit farmers, agricultural organizations and governments. At present, the system is reliable and practical, and plays an important role in big data of fruit industry in China.

Abstract:Introduction: To analyze the differences in system functions, interaction behaviors and user experience between iOS and Android smart phone operating system, and then study the differences in their brand images, so as to provide theory and research method for shaping corporate brand images from the perspective of product interaction design. Methods: This study was divided into three stages. In the first stage, the functional information architecture of iOS and Android smart phone operating system are studied comparatively by using information visualization methods. In the second stage, the brand image differences between the two systems at the explicit, behavioral and semantic levels are analyzed comparatively by building the "explicit - behavioral - semantic" product brand gene model. In the third stage, the functions of "setting alarm clock", "sharing pictures" and "modifying passwords" were selected for interactive behavior analysis. First, analyze the user experience of the three system functions from the perspective of interaction process and information architecture, and present the analysis results using the method of information visualization.; Secondly, the user experience and brand image differences between the two systems are analyzed by setting up manipulation task experiments. Results: The brand images of iOS and Android systems are similar in conciseness, clearness and efficiency; In terms of uniqueness, iOS system is more unique, while Android system has stronger applicability. Discussion: This study constructs an "explicit-behavior-semantic" brand gene model to create a unique product brand image for software products such as operating systems through interactive design, so as to solve the problem of product brand image homogeneity caused by the convergence of function and interaction design.

Abstract:In order to improve the information level of tourism industry,a design and an implementation on an intelligent tourist guide system based on Android operation system were presented.Firstly the architecture of Android system was introduced.Also the structure of the touristguide system platform was studied and the hardware of the platform and the module design were proposed.Based on this,the application software was developed by Android SDK 2.1,which was consisted of three modules:management of tourists information,multimedia applications and Web maps.The realization of functionality and interface of every module was analyzed in details.The testing results show that the system is easy to use and has agood scalability and maintainability.

Abstract:In this paper, we present our novel contribution methodology based on the results of case study that has been implemented in our research environment to test with new technique the usability of both intelligent Android and Apple phones. This analysis of the case study stands for features similar to applications, operating system, hardware and software structure, battery life, and online based websites. Multiple interrogations were applied to collect user answers ongoing features. Users directly react by responding based on their daily used product experience. Consequently, the estimation is based on the data that has been unregistered from the user. The most recent results will end up by introducing a combination of ideal features on both products to build a wonderful extended product in the future.

Abstract:Apple Inc. is one of the most successful multinationals and technological companies in the world. Its products especially the iPhone gained market shares worldwide not only because of their unique appearance and characteristics but also the cutting-edge technology application used on them. How can Apple stand in today’s market position can be explored comprehensively. This paper tries to find out the market situation of Apple through the analysis of Apple’s market and product development. Additionally, the potential advantages and disadvantages of Apple’s market strategies can also be figured out to demonstrate what contributes to Apple’s success. Apart from that the financial performance in different regions and the sales revenue from different products also be discussed to make some implications for both its competitors and Apple itself. Generally, it is obvious that although Apple has applied good market strategies, the difficulties and drawbacks it faces also negatively influence its development and financial performance.

Abstract:User Interface (UI) testing is a popular approach to ensure the quality of mobile apps. Numerous test generation tools have been developed to support UI testing on mobile apps, especially for Android apps. Previous work evaluates and compares different test generation tools using only relatively simple open-source apps, while real-world industrial apps tend to have more complex functionalities and implementations. There is no direct comparison among test generation tools with regard to effectiveness and ease-of-use on these industrial apps. To address such limitation, we study existing state-of-the-art or state-of-the-practice test generation tools on 68 widely-used industrial apps. We directly compare the tools with regard to code coverage and fault-detection ability. According to our results, Monkey, a state-of-the-practice tool from Google, achieves the highest method coverage on 22 of 41 apps whose method coverage data can be obtained. Of all 68 apps under study, Monkey also achieves the highest activity coverage on 35 apps, while Stoat, a state-of-the-art tool, is able to trigger the highest number of unique crashes on 23 apps. By analyzing the experimental results, we provide suggestions for combining different test generation tools to achieve better performance. We also report our experience in applying these tools to industrial apps under study. Our study results give insights on how Android UI test generation tools could be improved to better handle complex industrial apps.

Abstract:Given the ever increasing number of research tools to automatically generate inputs to test Android applications (or simply apps), researchers recently asked the question "Are we there yet?" (in terms of the practicality of the tools). By conducting an empirical study of the various tools, the researchers found that Monkey (the most widely used tool of this category in industrial practices) outperformed all of the research tools that they studied. In this paper, we present two significant extensions of that study. First, we conduct the first industrial case study of applying Monkey against WeChat, a popular messenger app with over 762 million monthly active users, and report the empirical findings on Monkey's limitations in an industrial setting. Second, we develop a new approach to address major limitations of Monkey and accomplish substantial code-coverage improvements over Monkey, along with empirical insights for future enhancements to both Monkey and our approach.

Abstract:Currently more and more users prefer visiting system through mobile,so is the instruments and colleges and equipment online booking system in colleges and universities.But such systems’mobile apps are not used commonly in colleges and universities.Tsinghua University has solved some technical bottlenecks in it,such as self instability of WeX5 ,an open source mobile development framework adopted by us which can be compatible with Android,ios and WeChat simultaneously,in which some key bugs are overcome including mobile transplanting of FullCalendar,an imitation Google desktop calendar used for machine booking,in which various technical difficulties are conquered in incompatibility with mobile platform,etc.Then a simple and fast way of development is gradually explored,and mobile equipment booking is successfully realized,including multiple functions such as single sign-on,Baidu map,equipment searching,machine booking,sending-sample booking,etc.Application results show that the system is stable and reliable,easy to use,and can better meet the needs of teachers and students in common application scenarios.
