Abstract:Triethylene glycol(TEG) impurity was analyzed by XRD, IC and GC-MS, and effects of different concentrations of suspended solids, heat-stable salts and organic compounds on TEG solution inactivation were analyzed by an inactivation evaluation test. Thermogravimetric(TG) and oxidative degradation behaviors of TEG in nitrogen and oxygen atmosphere at different heating rates were studied by TG analysis, and kinetic model of TEG degradation was studied by the Coats-Redfer method and distributed activation energy model (DAEM). The results show that FeS, Mg2+, Ca2+, Oxalic acid and glycolic acids in TEG solutions are the main contaminants affecting TEG deactivation, and the increase of their contents increases in activation degree.Thermal degradation of TEG is a first-step mass loss process and the oxidative degradation is a two-stage first-step mass loss process. The activation energy of oxidative degradation is much lower than that of thermal degradation activation energy. The initial temperature, weightlessness peak temperature and terminal temperature of pyrolysis move to high temperatures with the increase of heating rates. The inactivation analysis and degradation characteristics of TEG provide a theoretical basis for further exploring TEG degradation mechanism and solution inactivation prevention.
