Abstract:In this paper, polylactic acid fabric (PLA) was dyed with five different disperse dyes and the effect of dyeing parameters including time and temperature on the dyeing adsorption%, K/S value and the strength properties were studied. The recommended disperse dyeing conditions and dyeing profiles were also summarized.

Abstract:Dyeing behaviors of polylatic acid blended fabric assisted with ultrasonic wave were studied,the results were compared with those of conventional dyeing.Effects of ultrasonic wave on dye liquor and fabric were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD)and laser particle size analyzer.The results showed that ultrasonic treatment could break the micelles of disperse dyes,therefore,dye uptake and K/S value could be increased.After ultrasonic treatment,the fabric had no obvious etching on surface nor changes in α crystalline form,and only a little decrease in strength and intensity of diffraction.

Abstract:This paper studies the influence of two kinds of dyeing auxiliaries on the dyeing thermodynamic parameters of the polylactic acid fiber knitted fabric through applying the disperse red C. I. 74 to dye the polylactic acid fiber knitted fabric. It is found that the adsorption of the polylactic acid fiber knitted fabric to the disperse dye is in accordance with the Nernst adsorption. In addition, this paper works out the adsorption isotherm of the polylactic acid fiber and calculates the dyeing affinity, dyeing therm and dyeing entropy. The research results show that the dyeing affinity of the polylactic acid fiber under high temperature conditions is always higher that that under low temperature conditions when using disperse red C. I. 74.

Abstract:The polylactic acid fiber was dyed by selected disperse dyes.The influence of auxiliary on diffusion coefficient D was determined by measuring the dye-uptake and half-dyeing time,and proved by Hill equation,and therefore the dyeing dynamics of PLA fiber was researched.The results showed that half-dyeing time,was prolonged in the presence of three kinds of dyeing auxiliaries at 105 ℃,which meant to lower the dyeing rate and dye uptake.After adding the nonionic surfactants 524 and anionic dispersing agent JS-N,dyeing velocity coefficient K would reduce and half-dyeing time would notably increase.Increasing in diffusion coefficient D with leveler 2011 was beneficial to the dye uptake.

Abstract:Azo dye(C.I.disperse red 74) was used to dye poly(lactic acid)(PLA) knitted fabric.The influence of three kinds of auxiliaries on dyeing thermodynamic parameters of PLA fiber was studied(auxiliaries didn't change the distributing mechanism of disperse dye in the PLA knitted fabric,the kind of adsorption belongs to Nernst adsorption).Adsorption isotherms of PLA knitted fiber were obtained and the effective absorption volume(Var) was determined.On the basis of experimental results,the dyeing affinity,dyeing heat and dyeing entropy were calculated.The results indicated that the dyeing affinity at high temperature was higher than at low temperature.

Abstract:A novel and environmental-friendly continuous gel-dyeing technique for polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fiber was designed and developed. The gel-dyeing was carried out at the gel stage during PAN fiber production. The dyeing process can be completed in 20 s under a low temperature of 50 °C without a large amount of water. After the dyeing, the dyed gel fiber was further drawn and crystallized. The cationic dye molecules were trapped inside the fibers. All three cationic dyes used could obtain excellent dye uptake and color yields with Integ values over 50 after dyeing for 20 s at 50 °C. The obtained color was uniform. All fastness of the samples, including fastness to rubbing, fastness to washing (60 °C) and fastness to perspiration, reached 4–5 grade. Compared with traditional dyeing techniques, the new continuous gel-dyeing technique is obviously much faster, more efficient and eco-friendly. This dyeing method greatly saves water, energy and time. It is of great significance to the clean production of the dyeing process of PAN fibers.

Abstract:The dyeing properties of the polylactic acid (PLA) fiber with four different disperse dyes was studied. In the disperse dyeing process, differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) analysis was applied to test and analyze the changes of the glass-transition and melting temperature of the dyed and pure PLA fiber. The results indicated that not only the structure of the dispersed dyes and the dyeing conditions affected the dyeing performance of PLA fiber, but also the degree of the crystallinity of PLA fiber contributed to the final dyeing results. Moreover, the transformation of such crystallinity during the disperse dyeing process should be taken into account when the dyeing temperature was studied.

Abstract:Textile Research Journal, Ahead of Print. Flame-retardant finishing is essential for polyacrylonitrile fabric because of the restriction in application caused by poor flammability. Flame-retardant polyacrylonitrile fabric treated with nitrilase and vinyl phosphate was successfully prepared in this study. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, limiting oxygen index, KES fabric style instrument, air permeability, moisture permeability, thermal resistance, and moisture resistance tests were conducted to characterize the treated polyacrylonitrile fabrics. The results showed that carboxyl groups were introduced after nitrilase treatment, which efficiently improved the adsorption and combination of vinyl phosphate on polyacrylonitrile fibers. The sample prepared with nitrilase/vinyl phosphate treatment exhibited a high limiting oxygen index value of 27.5%. The air permeability and moisture permeability of the treated fabric decreased while moisture resistance increased.

Abstract:A series of blue crosslinking dyes EDCD, DTCD, TPCD, PVAmCD and PAAmCD were synthesized by the reaction of 1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinone with ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine, tetraethylethylenediamine, polyvinylamine and polyallyl amine. These crosslinking dyes can be classified into two kinds, i.e. small crosslinking dyes and polymeric crosslinking dyes. These dyes were crosslinked to cotton via covalent bond by a new crosslinker NSC prepared from 4,5-diamino-2,7-naphthalenedisulphonate and cyanuric chloride. The effects of crosslinking dyeing conditions, such as NSC concentration, curing temperature and pH of crosslinking bath on the dye fixation were investigated in detail. At optimum conditions, the fixations of EDCD, DTCD, TPCD, PVAmCD and PAAmCD using NSC as a crosslinker on cotton were 91.2%, 95.6%, 99.1%, 99.4% and 99.2%, respectively. The wrinkle recovery of crosslinking dyeing was also studied. These results indicated that the polymeric crosslinking dyes showed better performance than the small ones.

Development of Universal Fabric Dyeing and Adhesion Through RF Glow Discharge Plasma Treatment

Abstract:Various dyeing techniques are utilised at dyeing different types of fabrics and current study discuss the possibility of using a single dye bath for the given purpose. The current study utilised a radio frequency glow discharge plasma source maintained at near atmospheric conditions (around 200 mbar) in nitrogen and air environments to treat cotton, nylon, and polyester fabrics. Similar surface modifications produced in all three types of fabrics by OH and O radicals tailoring them more sensitive to certain dyes and glues. SEM images verified that bulk ma-terial is well protected by plasma treatment and the presence of additional surface functionalities (hydroxyl, carboxylic, and carbon-nitrogen groups) on the treated fabric surfaces were determined by FTIR and XPS analysis. The plasma-treated samples were dyed in a single dye bath using a reactive dye under atmospheric neutral conditions and a significant enhancement in fabric dyeability (cotton-124%, nylon-61%, polyester -38%) was observed. PVA glue was used for fastening the fabric samples and the adhesion was analysed through tensile measurement. Well improved adhesion capabilities (148%, 95%, and 57.3% respectively for cotton, nylon, and polyester) also confirm the advantages of RF glow discharge plasma treatment for unified fabric processing.
Environmentally Friendly Coloration of Polyamide Fabrics with the Use of Natural Dyes: A Study Including Results of Industrial Scale Applications

Abstract:In recent years, it is seen that there have been many publications on natural dyes in literature. In the studies carried out, one or more plants were taken and the color and fastness obtained with them in the presence of different mordants were examined. Beyond that, functionalities such as odor, antibacterial activity, and UV protection that natural dyes impart to the fabric were examined. However, the important thing that the literature needs is to represent also the results related to the industrial scale production since industry shows high interest to be able to use natural dyes. In this study, seven plant dyes have been used for the coloration of polyamide fabric. The studies have been conducted both on an industrial scale and at the laboratory scale. Based on the statistical analyses, four dyes with the highest color strength and fastness properties including catechu, madder, mulberry leaf, and pomegranate peel were selected for more studies on industrial scale. The results confirmed the good color strength and satisfactory fastness properties against repeated washing, rubbing, water, and perspiration for all selected dyes. The samples dyed with those dyes exhibited excellent protection against UV radiation. The results obtained in this study showed the potential of the selected natural dyes in eco-friendly industrial dyeing of nylon fabric with acceptable fastness properties.

Abstract:Among the traditional synthetic fibers,acrylonitrile fibers has the lowest limiting oxygen index.Therefore production of flame-retardant acrylonitrile fibers should be of great significance.According production processes of the acrylonitrile fibers and the approaches of introducing flame retardant,modified acrylonitrile fibers for flame-retardancy can be classified as copolymerization,additive blend,chemical grafting modification and flame retardant finishing in this paper.The latest technology progresses of above four methods were summarized.Based on the consideration of environmental protection and production cost,copolymerization method using halogen-free comonomer and additive blend method adopting several flame retardancy elements with synergetic effect are promising choices for synthesis of flame-retardant acrylonitrile fibers.

Abstract:As one of the most promising high-performance fibers, it is worthwhile to investigate the dyeing property of thermotropic liquid crystal polyarylate (TLCP) fibers. In this work, ultraviolet (UV) irradiation-induced grafting using the acrylic acid (AAc) method was employed to improve the cationic dyeability of the TLCP fabrics. The TLCP fabrics were firstly immersed in an AAc monomer solution for 24 h, followed with the UV radiation process for grafting polymerization. The results showed that the dyeing performance to C.I. Basic Red 46 of the modified TLCP fabrics was remarkably improved. Through several characterizations, it was found that the AAc-grafted TLCP fibers became more roughened with many pits on the fiber surface, while the crystalline structure of the TLCP fibers was hardly affected. More importantly, carboxyl groups have been successfully introduced onto the TLCP fiber surface, which is the main reason for the good dye uptake. Therefore, this paper provides a simple and efficient way for the improvement of the cationic dyeing property of TLCP fabrics.

Abstract:This review is based on the fundamental aspects and applications of polyacrylonitrile (PAN)‐based electrospun composite nanofibers. Various electrospinning techniques have been discussed here. polyacrylonitrile is an acrylic polymer of commercial significance that has superior thermal, mechanical, electrical, and chemical properties. The integration of polyacrylonitrile nanofibers with nanoparticles including carbon nanotubes, graphene nanosheets, graphene oxide, metal oxides, and their combinations has greatly improved the physicochemical properties of the polyacrylonitrile electrospun nanofibers. The enhanced features of polyacrylonitrile nanofibers have resulted from interfacial bonding of nitrile groups with the nanofiller used, chemical compositions, hydrophobicity, porosity, and wettability of these nanofibers. This article fundamentally features a few key possibilities of polyacrylonitrile‐based electrospun composite nanofibers and their applications. A special focus has been made on polyacrylonitrile‐based inorganic nanoparticles, graphene nanosheets, graphene oxide, and carbon nanotubes embedded electrospun nanofibers, for their potential applications in supercapacitors, high power batteries, filtration membranes, electromagnetic interference shielding, and strain sensors. Achieving low cost, high selectivity, excellent recyclability, and high absorption capability are the major challenges for electrospun nanofiber fabrications. These electrospun nanofibers require extensive research in the future to advance the technologies to bring them to the commercial market. This review fundamentally features a few key possibilities of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) based electrospun composite nanofibers applications. Special focus has been made on PAN‐based inorganic nanoparticles, graphene oxide, and carbon nanotubes embedded electrospun nanofibers for their potential applications in energy storage, filtration, and electromagnetic interference shielding and strain sensors.

Abstract:Acrylic fibres, as synthetic polymers, have been used extensively in the textile industry to create a wide variety of products, ranging from apparel and home furnishings to car rooftops and carbon fibres. Their widespread application is attributed to a combination of desirable properties, including a soft, wool-like texture, chemical stability, and robust mechanical characteristics. Furthermore, the chemical structure of acrylic fibres can be modified to imbue them with additional features, such as antimicrobial properties, fire resistance, conductivity, water repellency, and ultraviolet protection. This review explores the technological methods employed to functionalise acrylic fibres and discusses future trends in their development.

Abstract:Over the past decade, there has been a tremendous increase in the demand for polymeric nanofibres which are promising candidates for various applications including tissue engineering, protective clothing, filtration and sensors. To address thisdemand, researchers have turned to the development of various techniques such as electrospinning, meltblowing, bicomponent spinning, forcespinning and flash-spinning for the fabrication of polymeric nanofibres. However, electrospinning is the widely used technique for the fabrication of continuous nanofibres. The ability to fabricate nanofibrous assemblies of various materials (such as polymers, ceramics and metals) with possible control of the fibre fineness, surface morphology, orientation and cross-sectional configuration, gives electrospinning an edge over other processes. Although several researches have been done in electrospinning, understanding some of the other processes is still in infancy. In this perspective article, we summarize the fundamentals of various techniques for the fabrication of nanofibres. This paper also highlights a gamut of recent advances in the techniques for nanofibre fabrication.
