Abstract:With the fast development of biogas industry in China,how to use the biogas to achieve greater economic benefits is one of key factors affecting development model shift of middle and large scale biogas plants from environment protection mode to energy generation mode.The usage of biogas is changing from fueling combined heat and power generator engines to upgrading biogas to bio-methane.Biogas purification and upgrading is one of the high value applications of biogas.Bio-methane can be used as compressed natural gas and vehicle fuel.This paper summarizes the development of biogas purification industry at home and abroad.The technologies for removal of hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide are also reviewed.

Abstract:China`s energy production is largely dependent on coal. China currently ranks third in global CO{sub 2} emissions, and rapid economic expansion is expected to raise emission levels even further in the coming decades. Cogeneration provides a cost-effective way of both utilizing limited energy resources and minimizing the environmental impacts from use of fossil fuels. However, in the last 10 years state investments for cogeneration projects in China have dropped by a factor of 4. This has prompted this study. Along with this in-depth analysis of China`s cogeneration policies and investment allocation is the speculation that advanced US technology and capital can assist in the continued growth of the cogeneration industry. This study provides the most current information available on cogeneration development and market potential in China.

Abstract:The centralized gas power generation in China faces with several problems such as high gas prices, high cost of equipment investment and insufficient gas resources, as well as is still a temporary feed-in tariffs without the reflection of external costs of time-of-use in gas-electric and environmental protection. Compared with coal power, gas power generation lacks market competitiveness. The paper adopts the level cost of electricity(LCOE) as the main indicators, calculates the reasonable LCOE, and sensitively analyzes the price of natural gas and utilization time; compares the gas-electric feed-in tariffs of six typical provinces and cities such as Shanghai, Beijing and Zhejiang province, etc., and finds that centralized gas power generation project has poor economy in China, profit space remains to be further explored. According to the current market environment and future development trend, the paper recommends putting forward clearly gas-electric development policy, bettering the mechanism of FIT and accelerating the development of core technology, etc.

Abstract:<h3>Abstract</h3><p>In the background that the China government robustly advocates low carbon and green energy, China has turned to focus on natural gas, both production and consumption of which are soaring high these days and the role of which is gradually prominent in energy sources. But it also faces many problems. With the rapid development of natural gas in China, it has gradually formed a system of natural gas industry chain. With the aims to help promote more healthy and sustainable development of natural gas industry in the future, it is very valuable to think deeply about the past development process. This paper reviews and analyzes China's natural gas resources, pipeline layout, and industry development status. Based on China's specific conditions and resource characteristics, it analyzes China's future natural gas development opportunities. Simultaneously, the analysis shows China's natural gas production will reach 236.5 billion cubic meters by 2030 and the proportion of natural gas in the primary energy structure will reach about 15% in 2030. But in terms of current natural gas production, the supply gap is very large. Moreover, the dependence on foreign natural gas imports has continued to increase in recent years. Thus, China should continue to improve its natural gas layout and utilization system, increase investment in domestic natural gas exploration and development, strengthen core technology research, and improve its relevant laws and regulations in order to better maintain the rapid development of natural gas.</p>

Abstract:By analyzing the energy-saving and environmental protection of gas-fired heating and power cogeneration system and gas-fired heating,power and cooling cogeneration system in China,it is pointed out that large-scale combined gas and steam cycle system is even more superior to medium-scale and small-scale gas-fired heating,power and cooling cogeneration system,and the energy-saving of gas-fired heating and power cogeneration system is still better than that of gas-fired cooling and power cogeneration system.The application scope of medium-scale and small-scale gas-fired heating,power and cooling cogeneration system is discussed.

Abstract:Due to the energy characteristic of rich coal and less gas in China, developing coal to gas (CTG) was one of the important ways to obtain the natural gas resources and to alleviate the contradiction between supply and demand of natural gas. Developing CTG projects could not only utilize inferior coal resources in China reasonably and adjust the structure of coal consumption, but could also realize the clean utilization of coal and relieve the tense gas supply, as well as ensure the energy security. The industrial process, governmental policy and current status of the CTG industry in China were presented. Besides, the necessity and economy of domestic development of CTG as well as the main problems in the development process of CTG were analyzed. Finally, feasible suggestions for healthy development of CTG industry were put forward.

Abstract:China's electricity sector faces the challenge of managing cost increases, improving reliability, and reducing its environmental footprint even as operating conditions become more complex due to increasing renewable penetration, growing peak demand, and falling system load factors. Addressing these challenges will require changes in how power generation is planned, priced, and dispatched in China. This is especially true for natural gas generation, which is likely to play an important role in power systems worldwide as a flexible generation resource. Although natural gas is commonly perceived to be economically uncompetitive with coal in China, these perceptions are based on analysis that fails to account for the different roles that natural gas generation plays in power systems—baseload, load following, and peaking generation. Our analysis shows that natural gas generation is already cost-effective for meeting peak demand in China, resulting in improved capacity factors and heat rates for coal-fired generators and lower system costs. We find that the largest barrier to using natural gas for peaking generation in China is generation pricing, which could be addressed through modest reforms to support low capacity factor generation.

Abstract:Due to the revolution of the economic growth, urbanization, and low-carbon development of China, the proportion of natural gas in the national primary energy consumption has been growing rapidly in recent years. In the meanwhile, the contradiction between the supply and demand in China's natural gas market (NGM) has also been increasing gradually. Accordingly, the Chinese government has introduced a slew of policies to ease this contradiction. However, China's NGM is still facing many problems and challenges. The purpose of this study is to investigate the peak-shaving demand of the NGM in China, as well as to estimate the status and trend of underground gas storage (UGS) development for peak-shaving of the NGM. Firstly, the status and development direction of the NGM in China is discussed considering the supply and demand situation. The regional difference, the seasonal difference and the import impact are analyzed in detail to clarify the peak-shaving demand of national natural gas supply. Secondly, the status, direction, difficulties and challenges of UGS are discussed in depth. Finally, this study proposes some potential suggestions for the regulation of the NGM and the development of UGS in China.

Abstract:Replacing conventional fossil fuel power plants with large-scale renewable energy sources (RES) is a crucial aspect of the decarbonization of the power sector and represents a key part of the carbon-neutral strategy of China. The high penetration rate of renewable energy in the electricity system, however, implies the challenges of dealing with the intermittency and fluctuation of RES. Power to gas (P2G), which can convert surplus renewable power into a chemical form of energy (i.e., synthetic gas), can help handle this challenge and supply new energy carriers for various energy sectors. By modeling three potential 2060 energy mix scenarios in China, this paper aims to describe the possible contribution of the high penetration rate of renewable energy combined with P2G in the future sustainable energy system. Different schemes are listed and compared, and the results are used in a basic economic evaluation of the synthetic gas production cost for the P2G plants. Ideally, nearly 18 million tons of carbon dioxide would be recycled and transformed into methane (around 9.37 km3) annually in China. Considering a zero price for the excess renewable power and future costs of the components, the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) of the final production of methane is estimated at 0.86 $/m3SNG.

Abstract:China is an early user of geothermal energy, and its direct use ranks first in the world. Recent national strategies and policies have enabled China’s geothermal energy industry to enter a new era with important development opportunities. This paper investigates the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) to China’s geothermal energy industry from political, economic, social, and technological (PEST) perspectives. SWOT–PEST analysis indicates that the resources, market, and technological foundation exist for the large-scale development of China’s geothermal energy industry. However, it experiences constraints, such as unclear resource distributions, incomplete development of government regulations, incomplete implementation of national policies, unclear authority between governmental administrative systems, and lack of uniform technical standards and codes. Therefore, future development strategies have been proposed to provide technical support and policy tools for geothermal energy development. The recommendations to ensure its healthy and sustainable development include improving resource exploration, rationalizing administration systems, enhancing policy guidance and financial support, and cultivating geothermal talent.

Abstract:The contradiction between supply and demand on natural gas has been increasing obviously, and the rising price and the issue of energy security is also becoming apparent gradually. So using abundant coal resources to produce the substitute natural gas (SNG) is one of the important ways to resolve the problem. Based on the development status and trends of 'Coal To SNG' in foreign countries, the system of 'Coal To SNG' is simulated by ASPEN used for Huolinhe lignite and its technical economy was analyzed about SNG's cost in this paper. Under the premise of a 'win-win' mechanism, the future development of China's 'Coal To SNG' is brought forward with some ideas and suggestions in the development direction, route and mechanism.

The framework of a multi-generation system based on oxygen blown gasification is described and its benefits are analyzed. Finally, the starting procedure, government role, and policies for the implementing of multi-generation strategy in China are proposed.

Abstract:This work presents the development situation of biomass gasification power generation technology in China and analyzes the difficulty and challenge in the development process. For China, a large agricultural country with abundant biomass resources, the utilization of biomass gasification power generation technology is of special importance, because it can contribute to the electricity structure diversification under the present coal-dominant electricity structure, ameliorate the environmental impact, provide energy to electricity-scarce regions and solve the problems facing agriculture. Up to now, China has developed biomass gasification power generation plants of different types and scales, including simple gas engine-based power generation systems with capacity from several kW to 3MW and integrated gasification combined cycle systems with capacity of more than 5MW. In recent years, due to the rising cost of biomass material, transportation, manpower, etc., the final cost of biomass power generation has increased greatly, resulting in a serious challenge in the Chinese electricity market even under present preferential policy for biomass power price. However, biomass gasification power generation technology is generally in accord with the characteristics of biomass resources in China, has relatively good adaptability and viability, and so has good prospect in China in the future.

Abstract:This paper provides a comprehensive description of the power generation development in recent years in China, including the increasing trend of installed capacity and generated electricity, the current situation of technology mix and primary energy consumption, and the enlargement of power grid scale. This paper analyses the possible reasons to the nationwide power shortage since 2002, including the accelerating growth of electricity-intensive industries, the increasing of residential electricity consumption due to the rising income level, and the fuel supply shortage. Using of a regressive model, this paper analyses the significant impact of electricity-intensive industries on the electricity demand. Assuming the scenarios of economy development and electricity demand, this paper prospects the power generation development in the future, and describes the development roadmap to achieve the goal proposed by the China's central government.
