Abstract:Seafloor observatory network is a subject service for undersea exploration and researching work.To realize condition monitoring,data measuring and the transmission preservation of other communicating signals,it is especially important to design and study monitor system of bank basestation and series data monitor system.Focusing on the features of Seafloor observatory,the paper realized working condition monitor,measurement transmission with VC and SQL-Serve technique,as well as share monitor data with Internet with the help of Web technique. Besides viewing of the long term and stableness features of seafloor observatory network,the paper put forward improving method and design idea,which were proved effective and reliable by practical running. Abstract:Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is increasingly popular in the field of micro-environmental monitoring due to its promising capability. However, most systems using WSN for environmental monitoring reported in the literature are developed for specific applications without functions for exploiting user’s data processing methods. In this paper, a new system is designed in detail to perform micro-environmental monitoring taking the advantages of the WSN. The application-oriented hardware working style is designed, and the system platform for data acquisition, validation, processing and visualization is systematically presented. Several strategies are proposed to guarantee the system capability in terms of extracting useful information, visualizing events to their authentic time are also described. Moreover, a web-based surveillance subsystem is presented for remote control and monitoring. In addition, the system is extensible for engineers to carry their own data analysis algorithms. Experimental results are to show the path reliability and real-time characteristics, and to display the feasibility and applicability of the developed system into practical deployment.

Abstract:Substation is an important part of power system and its operation status exerts great effect on the safety of power system. Comprehensive monitoring management platform for substation (CMMP) is a digital monitoring platform which has uniform interfaces; flexible expansibility and hierarchical network control ability, and it is custom-designed for safe operation of substation. CMMP consists of direct current real-time monitoring subsystem, intrusion detection and hierarchical video monitoring subsystem, temperature and humidity and fire monitoring subsystem based on WSNs. CMMP adopt composite structure of C/S and B/S which would be convenient for computer and other mobile end to query monitoring information. Owing to the perfect private network of power system, CMMP can monitor both local and cross-domain substations. In addition, CMMP can classify and manage all kinds of alarm information from substation and realize distribution monitoring centralized management.

Abstract:Geospatial data, especially remote sensing (RS) data, are of significant importance for public services and production activities. Expertise is critical in processing raw data, generating geospatial information, and acquiring domain knowledge and other remote sensing applications. However, existing geospatial service platforms are more oriented towards the professional users in the implementation process and final application. Building appropriate geographic applications for non-professionals remains a challenge. In this study, a geospatial data service architecture is designed that links desktop geographic information system (GIS) software and cloud-based platforms to construct an efficient user collaboration platform. Based on the scalability of the platform, four web apps with different themes are developed. Data in the fields of ecology, oceanography, and geology are uploaded to the platform by the users. In this pilot phase, the gap between non-specialized users and experts is successfully bridged, demonstrating the platform’s powerful interactivity and visualization. The paper finally evaluates the capability of building spatial data infrastructures (SDI) based on GeoNode and discusses the current limitations. The support for three-dimensional data, the improvement of metadata creation and management, and the fostering of an open geo-community are the next steps.

Abstract:The Data Platform of Resource and Environment-whose data mainly come from field observation stations, spatial observations, and internet service institutions-is the base of data analysis and model simulation in geoscience research in China. Among this integrated data platform, the tasks of the data platform of field observation stations are principally data collection, management, assimilation, and share service. Taking into consideration the distributing characteristics of the data sources and the service objects, the authors formulated the framework of the field observation stations' data platform based on the grid technology and designed its operating processes. The authors have further defined and analyzed the key functions and implementing techniques for each module. In a Linux operating system, validation tests for the data platform's function on data replication, data synchronization, and unified data service have been conducted under an environment that of the simulating field stations.

Abstract:Presently, planning and assessment in maintenance, renewal and decision-making for watershed hydrology, water resource management and water quality assessment are evolving toward complex, spatially explicit regional environmental assessments. These problems have to be addressed with object-oriented spatio-temporal data models that can restore, manage, query and visualize various historic and updated basic information concerning with watershed hydrology, water resource management and water quality as well as compute and evaluate the watershed environmental conditions so as to provide online forecasting to police-makers and relevant authorities for supporting decision-making. The extensive data requirements and the difficult task of building input parameter files, however, has long been an obstacle to use of such complex models timely and effectively by resource managers. Success depends on an integrated approach that brings together scientific, education and training advances made across many individual disciplines and modified to fit the needs of the individuals and groups who must write, implement, evaluate, and adjust their watershed management plans. The centre for Hydro-science Research, Nanjing University, in cooperation with the relevant watershed management authorities, has developed a WebGIS management platform to facilitate this complex process. Improve the management of watersheds over the Huaihe basin through the development, promotion and use of a web-based, user-friendly, geospatial watershed management data and decision support system (WMDDSS) involved many difficulties for the development of this complicated System. In terms of the spatial and temporal characteristics of historic and currently available information on meteorological, hydrological, geographical, environmental and other relevant disciplines, we designed an object-oriented spatiotemporal data model that combines spatial, attribute and temporal information to implement the management system. Using this system, we can update, query and analyze environmental information as well as manage historical data, and a visualization tool was provided to help the user interpret results so as to provide scientific support for decision-making. The utility of the system has been demonstrated its values by being used in watershed management and environmental assessments.

Abstract:Combined with the design and development of a surface water quality monitoring information management system, the water quality monitoring information management requirements and water quality data items and data structures are analyzed. The framework of the database construction is presented and the concept design and logical architecture design are introduced. The titling formats and content regulations are investigated. Under the surroundings of Oracle and VB.Net, the front end and back end system are developed. The key functions of the system including water quality query and management and monitoring factors information query are introduced. Furthermore, the concept of the Rough Sets is introduced, and water quality information completion and uniformities, attribute reduction and rule induction algorithms are investigated based on the Rough Sets model. Thus the data analysis and early-warning functions are established. The operation performance of the system shows that it can wholly meet the needs of the water quality monitoring and management.

Abstract:With global warming and pollution issues become more and more serious around the world, environmental education has been looked as an important instructional activity in K-12 education in many countries. The purpose of the study is to introduce a prototype of a Web-based Campus Environmental Information System (CEIS) designed for K-12 schools. The proposed system consists of several campus environmental information collection stations and related network platform software. Via the Internet, the system can automatically collect real-time campus environmental information, such as temperature, humidity, noise, air quality, and etc. Collected data could be used for environmental information query, educational services and informal learning activities such as online supported environment exploration, collaborative learning for K-12 schools. This system could not only serve people's daily life, but also effectively promote the scientific inquiry ability of K-12 students.

Abstract:Urban water supply network is enormous and complicated but short of large-scale monitoring method at present. The lack of detection for the underground pipelines results in the engineers cannot manage the pipe network effectively. In this case, this paper proposes a new monitoring and management platform for water supply network. This platform comprises the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) data acquisition system and the decision aids system. The former is based on ZigBee communication protocol which can realize the large-scale monitoring task at a very low cost. The latter is a set of softwares in the data center providing decision support such as monitoring nodes clustering and operation analysis for engineers.

Abstract:The results of the national investigation and evaluation of mountain flood come in various data types and large data volume,with complicated data structure and high degree of specialization.The national data volume reaches 100T,and the average provincial-level data volume reaches TB scale.It is difficult to manage these data effectively.In this paper,we designed a data model for national investigation and evaluation of mountain flood based on administrative division and small watershed,and established an entity model of the objects and analyzed the relationships of the objects.We used ETL technology to realize multilevel aggregation and integration of massive data.On this basis,we designed and developed a data management platform based on the service-oriented software architecture,and realized various functions such as differentiated information organization of different management levels,multi-dimensional information correlation analysis,and online analysis and summary.The construction of this platform solved some problems in national mountain flood investigation and evaluation such as multi-source massive data management and differentiated demand of different business levels.It can provide reference for management and sharing of mountain flood investigation data at all levels.

Abstract:As we all know, the technology of data management system has already been mature in many fields, however, it's still very difficult to make it apply to the development of the seafloor observation network which has its own features. The observation device that seabed produces large amounts of data every day and it has a variety of data formats. A kind of data management system for seafloor observatory network is designed in this paper. The overall system design, metadata definition and data storage design are presented. The particularity of the system is taken into consideration in the design process. The data management system which designed in this paper has already been applied to a seafloor observatory network. The design method of the system will play an important role in the information construction of the long-term seafloor observation network.

Abstract:Objective To establish the health risks information management system of environmental pollution.Methods Environmental Contamination and Health Information Database(ECHID)was designed based on Principles of Visual Programming and Software Engineering theory,using MSSQL Server 2008 as database platform and combining Relational and Object-oriented Geospatial Database as design methods.Results A GIS-based Environmental Contamination and Health Information Management System(ECHIMS) was developed,which supported the integration operation of management,inquiry,visual display,intelligent analysis,and report generating to the attributive date and spatial date of environmental contamination and health information.Conclusion The system can be used in health risk assessment,and characterize the distribution and trends of health risk dynamically and visually.

For a better understanding of the basin ecological environment information of the whole province, the platform strengthens the energy of monitoring, and establishes the foundation for analysis and early warning of the ecological environment.
