Abstract:Urban traffic control is a large and complex system. When traffic congestion occurs it generally cannot be resolved by the workings of a single intersection. Using a multi-agent system to set up a traffic control framework, we can simulate different control strategies. We have defined different kinds of traffic-control-agent classes while researching the interactions and dynamic adapting mechanism among agents. Utilizing self-organization and sliding window skills, we have designed an effective congestion control mechanism. In simulating the traffic environment, we obtained a valuable experimental result.

Abstract:Design, study and management of Urban Traffic Systems are increasingly difficult and expensive as existing configurations are multiple and complex. The main goal of UTS (Urban Traffic System) is to allow the users to achieve their trips in the network in a reasonable time and with a sufficient safety level. As a modem distributed intelligent technology, Multi-agent system has advantages of others in urban traffic management and control. Many researchers study in this area and a lot of fruits have been achieved in recent years. In this paper we investigate existing multi-agent system application in urban traffic management. Our work shows that these applications involve in traffic modeling and simulation, traffic signal control, congestion and incident management, traffic routing, etc. we make a primary appreciation about their merits and disadvantages, and put forward suggestions for the building of an integrated UTS.

Abstract:In order to solve the key technologies of urban traffic in China, the intelligent means and approach, combined artificial intelligent with tradition control ones, are adopted in the paper. Some hypotheses are elicited on the basis of the characteristics of Chinese urban traffic control system structure and function requirement, a kind of frame structure of urban traffic intelligent control system is stated based on multi-agents cooperation. A kind of better design ways and means for urban traffic real-time, rational and reasonable control system is established according to the frame structure, the system design of urban cross control and area control based on multi-agents is implemented. In this way, successful realization of goal for urban traffic intelligent control is insured so as to increase the capacity of urban road network and to improve our urban traffic control and management modes. Therefore urban surroundings quality will be enhanced. And the comfortable and delightful traffic surroundings will be built.

Abstract:Traffic system is time-varying and complicated so that traditional signal control methods can't meet the demand of modern traffic management. This paper proposes a novel control model with multi-agent architecture to improve the traffic signal control efficiency and relieve traffic congestion. First, we present the structure of a single agent which consists of sense module, execution module, communication module, data center, experience base, extended base, decision logic and optimizer. And then we present the message-passing and control mechanism of the multi-agent system. Finally, the simulation results prove the feasibility and effectiveness of the signal control mechanism with multi-agent structure over traffic networks.

Abstract:In this paper an urban traffic coordination control system based on Multi-Agent is put forward.As for the interactive intersection,an algorithm of distributed Q-learning based on distributed weight function is brought forward.The learning and coordinating function of Multi-Agent is realized by the distributed Qlearning.The paper uses the coordination control of each Agent to coordinate the signal of adjacent intersections for eliminating the congestion of traffic network.Finally,the control algorithm is simulated by Paramics,which is a microscopic traffic simulation software.Experimental results indicate that the control algorithm is effective and reliable.

Abstract:To improve the use of the finite resources and modify the measure we used in traffic control ,according to different behaviors of by different individuals in traffic flow,a frame structure of intelligent traffic control system based on multi-agent and cellular automation was analysed in the paper. This paper used the cellular automation to build the road net,meanwhile,the traditional,unsuitable way used in cellular automation was changed to a new rule that one cell could hold several different types of vehicles with consideration of cell’s capacity. In the end,it discussed the cooperative relationship of those agents in the control system,and provided theoretical guidance and methodical gist for the ultimate realization of the urban traffic control system based on multi-agent and cellular automation.

Abstract:Coordinated control of area traffic signal is studied using multi-agent technology. Area agent, intersection agent and vehicle agent are constructed. Area agent and vehicle agent constitute the network scheduling layer, and intersection agent constitutes the signal control layer. Vehicle agent and intersection agent are reactive structure, and area agent is deliberate structure. Based on this, the area traffic control system is established. One leader and multi-follower dynamic game coordination model is proposed by analyzing the system structure. A simulation study is conducted on a simple traffic network and numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Abstract:In this paper, an approach based on multi-Agent technology is applied to urban traffic trunk roads coordination control. First the urban traffic trunk roads are regarded as a large scale system, and the subsystems are the intersections in the trunk road, on the basis of it the description and function of the decision Agent and intersection Agent are given. Then the intersection Agentpsilas control function based on the distributed Q-learning is described. Finally some simulations on a road net including two intersections are done by PARAMICS traffic simulation software, and the simulation results indicated the effectiveness of the approach.

Abstract:A multi-agent model is proposed for analyzing the China Advanced Info-Optical Network Traffic Engineering System. It has two layers consisting of task dispatch agents and task achievement agents respectively. The latter makes the tasks more intelligent and simpler, by adopting rules matching so that users have the choice to customize the number of rules and the modes of matching. It compensates for the unskillfulness of the users in task achievement. The framework is proposed for communication primitives and modes.

Abstract:The characteristic of traffic signal control system is analysed,and an urban road traffic area-wide coordination control method based on Multi-Agent technology is proposed in this paper.The reinforcement learning is introduced in the agent model of single traffic intersection,and the time of green light can be adjusted dynamically on line.In the road network of multiple intersections,the average delay of vehicles is employed as objective function in Multi-Agent control system,and the intelligent coordination and optimization of whole area control system in urban road network are realized through the coordination of each agent.The average delay time is reduced,and the traffic efficiency is improved.The computer simulation results indicate that the control algorithm is effective compared with fixed-time control and actuated-control.
