Abstract:The short-distance power transmission system can be decomposed into its physical components in digital simulation . The transmission lines , synchronous generator , transformers and composite load are modeled separately and voltages at the intersections are substituted with the coupling voltage sources . Then each module can be numerically integrated in parallel . A lumped parameter mathematical model of Coupled Parallel Transmission system with its transmission line under mid-point fault is established for the digital simulation . Based on the known synchronous generator model and composite load model , its multi-module-coupling model for digital real-time simulation is developed .

Abstract:In the digital real-time simulation of the power system the multi-modules parallel processing technique has been extensively employed. The paper presents a coupled model between modules of the normal operation of the power system and its digital integration method. With this model and method, the digital real-time simulation of a concrete instance is realized by PentiumⅢ. The result of the simulation shows that the model is correct and the digital integral method is suitable for real-time simulation.

Abstract:The high voltage short distance 35 kV feeding transmission system is one of the common short distance power systems . According to the physical equipment, the author takes to partitioning the system. The transmission module is used as a lumped parameter model, synchronous generator, transformer, composite load are separately operated as independent built-modules. Every module connection is substituted by a decoupled voltage source. So every module can take parallel integration. A mathematics model of feed power system non-three phase running is developed on the basis of known model of synchronous machine and composite load .The digital integration method is also given .The results of a digital example simulation running on Pentium III show that the presented model and the given digital integration method are correct and can be realized in real-time.

Abstract:The power simulation covers all stages of development and operation of a power system, such as planning, design and also operation. This includes simulating dynamic behaviors of very large power systems with HVDC and FACTS, and verifying performances of these complex systems with the original control and protection equipment in a fast and accurate manner. In this paper, features and engineering applications of the simulation program system NETOMAC are introduced. With practical examples, benefits of the computer simulation for planning, design and operation of power systems are demonstrated.

Abstract:The tremendous developments of power systems bring new challenge to the simulation technology and conventional transient simulation cannot meet the analytical needs of practical large-scale power systems.Combining the advantages of electromagnetic and electromechanical transient simulations, experts and scholars have proposed the hybrid simulation technology.This paper gives an overview on the research and development of the hybrid simulation at home and abroad.Then two fundamental requirements for engineering applications are specified and several essential difficulties are described,including the system segmentation scheme,the boundary condition for the calculation of one side and equivalence of the other side,and the interactive order of two sides during the system fault.Based on the analysis of these difficulties,a forecast and correction method is proposed,with its feasibility expounded.Finally,the paper makes a simple comment on the development trends of the hybrid simulation.

Abstract:In power system hybrid simulation, the mutual influence between the electromechanical transient process and electromagnetic transient process can be synthetically considered. The routine system can be simulated in the electromechanical mode while the other local network or special component in the electromagnetic mode and it provides a new solution to the study of transient stability and dynamic characteristic of the large-scale power system. Based on the self-developed electromechanical and electromagnetic transient simulation programs and the specific interface algorithm, the platform for power system hybrid simulation is designed and implemented, in which a new data exchange sequence method and correlative data communication and synchronization algorithm are also put forward. As its source code is transparent, controllable and expandable, the flexibility and efficiency are improved. The simulation results show the feasibility of the scheme and correctness of the interface algorithm.

Abstract:The present state of the electromagnetic transient simulation and electromechanical transient simulation in power system was particularly introduced. By comparing two kinds of simulations, the purpose of hybrid simulation in modern power systems was explained. Two implementation schemes for hybrid simulation were discussed, and the test result for response time of data exchange between embedded real-time operation system and RTDS was given. In the end, some key technical issues concerning hybrid simulation were discussed and corresponding solutions were put forward.

Abstract:Power system simulation involves a wide range of timeframes, starting at microseconds when simulating fast electromagnetic transients and extending to several years in system planning studies. The same system may have to be modeled and solved in many different ways, depending upon the studied event of interest. It has been desirable to have a single software platform from which several power system analysis functions can be easily activated for the same power system. The network under study may go through changes due to switching events, outages of equipment, generators, or loads. Such changes should be recorded only once and recognized by all applications running under this platform. Each application should have easy access to the results produced by any other application. This allows modular development, updating, or replacement of various applications independent of each other. Power Education Toolbox (PET) is such a software package and has been under development at Texas A&M University for several years. The GUI of PET allows users to create one-line diagrams of systems, specify components and simulation parameters, and view output.

Abstract:Power systems are becoming more and more complicated. Traditional simulation tools such as transient stability programs and electromagnetic transients (EMT) programs are unable to meet the accuracy or efficiency requirements. This paper proposes a shifted frequency-based EMT (SFEMT) simulation in the symmetrical component-domain (abbreviated as SCSFEMT simulation) for the three-phase transmission system. The sequence-decoupled SCSFEMT modeling for the power system components is first presented based on the symmetrical component transformation. Then, the solution procedure of the presented SCSFEMT simulation algorithm is elaborated in detail based on the EMTP-type solution and multi-sequence Thevenin equivalence (MSTE). With the MSTE, the three sequence networks can be decoupled during the whole simulation. Thus, the dimension of the system is greatly reduced. Last, the accuracy and efficiency of the SCSFEMT simulation are validated on the 10-machine 39-bus New England system by comparing it with traditional EMT and SFEMT simulation. Test results show that the SCSFEMT simulation algorithm is much more efficient than traditional SFEMT simulation.

Abstract:Conventional electromechanical transient or electromagnetic transient simulators each have their disadvantages and limitations in simulating increasingly large-scale power systems. It is shown that by combining two kinds of simulators to make hybrid simulation, the scale, velocity and precision of calculation can be improved. It also provides a new solution for research on power system transient stability and dynamic characteristics. The key algorithm for dealing with the interface in hybrid simulation is presented in this paper. The solution to equivalent parameter and method of equivalent circuit for two kinds of simulators are discussed. In particular, a new method is presented for solving the equivalent fundamental frequency complex impedance according to the existing post-difference nodal admittance real matrix. In addition, the problem about asymmetric impedance matrix in electromechanical transient simulators and fundamental extraction in electromagnetic transient simulators are also discussed and analyzed at length, providing the specific scheme of implementation and laying a solid theoretical foundation for program design of the hybrid simulation system.

Abstract:The Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) is serious in the substation, so studying the electromagnetic environment of the key equipment in the substation is very important. We introduce the simulation and calculation of the power-frequency electromagnetic fields of bus and lines between equipments, transient high-frequency electromagnetic fields of the key equipment during switch operation or over-voltage, then we can take protective measures for the EMC.

Abstract:The analysis and simulation of power system are becoming more and more challenging as the complexity of system topology and components has been increased. In this paper, a hybrid parallel algorithm is proposed for the real-time electromagnetic transient simulation (EMTS) of integrated power systems containing multiphase machines. The proposed algorithm is composed of a novel network partition method called component level parallelization and the Multi-Area Thevenin Equivalent (MATE) method, which extends the flexibility of the network partition in parallel simulation. Moreover, several methods are developed to enhance the efficiency of the communication and computation. Power systems with up to 410 single-phase electrical nodes and 336 switches are simulated in a time step of 50 μs to validate the proposed algorithm.
