Abstract:Recent research has witnessed unprecedented advances of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite semiconductors in varied electronic applications such as solar cells, light-emitting diodes, field-effect transistors, and memristors. However, the uniformity of well-crystallized hybrid semiconductor films over large areas is still challenging. In this context, we rationally manipulate the solution printing process of perovskite hybrid semiconductors by capitalizing on the meniscus effect, thereby effectively tailoring the charge carrier generation, separation, diffusion, and recombination processes, which in turn lead to high-performance photovoltaics. The morphology of the hybrid semiconductor films can be effectively controlled over large areas by modulating the meniscus shape, solvent evaporation rate, and evaporative flux during the solution printing process. The relationship between the fluid dynamics of the solution ink and the crystallization kinetics of semiconductor films are explored, and correspondingly the effects of meniscus shape, ink viscosity, and printing velocity on the sensory performances are elucidated. This solution-printing strategy paves the way to fabricating multifunctional, large-area, and high-performance semiconductor films, and is readily extended to manufacture varied electronics.
