Abstract:<p>The impact of grain and phase boundaries on the magnetic domain structure and soft magnetic properties of the FeCoNi(AlSi)<em>x</em> (0.1 ≤ <em>x</em> ≤ 0.7) high-entropy alloys (HEAs) have been studied in this work. The <em>x</em>=0.1 alloy with single FCC phase and the <em>x</em>=0.5 alloy with single BCC phase show obvious grain and phase boundaries, while the <em>x</em>=0.3 containing FCC plus BCC phase and <em>x</em>=0.7 alloy containing single BCC phase only present phase boundaries. Besides, The magnetic domains can cross grain and phase boundaries when the exchange coupling interaction is stronger enough. However, the domains are blocked for <em>x</em>=0.5 alloy due to the strong pinning effect of grain boundaries (GBs). Moreover, the <em>x</em>=0.1 and <em>x</em>=0.5 alloys display good statically soft magnetic properties with relatively low coervivity (<em>Hc</em>) and high maximum permeability (<em>μmax</em>), whereas the <em>x</em>=0.3 and <em>x</em>=0.7 alloys exhibit good dynamic magnetic parameters with low alternating current (AC) <em>Hc</em> and total loss (<em>Ps</em>).</p>

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper aims to explore the effects of grain and phase interfaces on the soft magnetic properties and magnetic domain structures of FeCoNiAlSi high - entropy alloys (HEAs). Specifically, the effects of different Al and Si contents (x = 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7) on the microstructure, crystal structure, hardness, resistivity, and static and dynamic magnetic properties of FeCoNi(AlSi)xHEAs were studied. Through these studies, the authors hope to understand how grain and phase interfaces affect the magnetic domain structures and their soft magnetic characteristics of these materials, especially the performance differences under different compositions. The key points mentioned in the paper include: - **Effects of grain and phase interfaces**: For alloys with x = 0.1 and 0.5, there are obvious grain and phase interfaces, while for alloys with x = 0.3 and 0.7, they mainly show phase interfaces. Magnetic domains can span grain and phase interfaces, but when the exchange - coupling effect is strong enough, magnetic domains are blocked in the alloy with x = 0.5 due to the strong pinning effect of grain boundaries (GBs). - **Magnetic properties**: Alloys with x = 0.1 and 0.5 exhibit good static soft magnetic properties, with relatively low coercivity (\(H_c\)) and high maximum permeability (\(\mu_{\text{max}}\)), while alloys with x = 0.3 and 0.7 show good dynamic magnetic parameters, with low alternating - current coercivity (AC \(H_c\)) and total loss (\(P_s\)). - **Resistivity and loss**: As the degree of lattice distortion increases, the resistivity (\(\rho\)) increases, resulting in a reduction in eddy - current loss (\(P_e\)), thereby reducing the total loss (\(P_s\)). In conclusion, this paper systematically studies the effects of different Al and Si contents on the magnetic properties and magnetic domain structures of FeCoNiAlSi high - entropy alloys, revealing the crucial role of grain and phase interfaces in regulating the magnetic properties of these materials.
