Abstract:Consider the following elliptic system (0.1) (-Δ)u=f(u,v), (-Δ)v=g(u,v), where f and g are continuous functions and satisfy the finite total curvature conditions. Recently, Guo and Liu (2008) derived Liouville-type results for the positive solution of the semilinear elliptic system (0.1) in the whole space ℝN (N ⩾ 3). However, the case N = 2 is different and difficult because u and v may change signs. Using the method of moving spheres in the integral form combined with integral inequalities, we give a complete classification of the classical solutions to the above system in ℝ2. This seems the first result for the classification of solutions (u, v) (here u and v are not required to be positive solutions) to the critical order system (0.1) in the two-dimensional case.

Abstract:In this paper, we classify the solution of the following mixed-order conformally invariant system with coupled nonlinearity in $ \mathbb{R}^4$: \begin{equation}\left\{ \begin{aligned} & -\Delta u(x) = u^{p_1}(x) e^{q_1v(x)}, \quad x\in \mathbb{R}^4,\\ & (-\Delta)^2 v(x) = u^{p_2}(x) e^{q_2v(x)}, \quad x\in \mathbb{R}^4, \end{aligned} \right. \end{equation} where $ 0\leq p_1 < 1$, $ p_2 >0$, $ q_1 > 0$, $ q_2 \geq 0$, $ u>0$ and satisfies $$ \int_{\mathbb{R}^4} u^{p_1}(x) e^{q_1v(x)} dx < \infty,\quad \int_{\mathbb{R}^4} u^{p_2}(x) e^{q_2 v(x)} dx < \infty.$$ Under additional assumptions (H1) or (H2), we study the asymptotic behavior of the solutions to the system and we establish the equivalent integral formula for the system. By using the method of moving spheres, we obtain the classification results of the solutions in the system.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate positive solutions of the degenerate parabolic equation not in divergence form: ut=upΔu+auq−bur, subject to the null Dirichlet boundary condition. We at first discuss the existence and nonexistence of global solutions to the problem, and then study the large time behavior for the global solutions. When the positive source dominates the model, we prove that the global solutions uniformly tend to the positive steady state of the problem as t→∞. In particular, we establish the uniform asymptotic profiles for the decay solutions when the problem is governed by the nonlinear diffusion or absorption.

Our findings are divided into two parts, according to the sign of the parameter $a$. For $a\geq 0$, we demonstrate that any positive solution $(u,v)$ is synchronized, indicating that $u$ and $v$ are constant multiples of positive solutions to the decoupled Hénon equation: \begin{equation*} -\mathrm{div}(|x|^{-2a}\nabla w)=|x|^{-bp}|w|^{p-2}w. \end{equation*} For $a<0$ and $b>a$, we characterize all nonnegative ground states. Additionally, we study the nondegeneracy of nonnegative synchronized solutions. This work also delves into some general $k$-coupled Hénon-Sobolev critical systems.

Our main ingredients are proving a Liouville type result for biharmonical system in ℝ + N via the method of moving plane combined with integral inequality, and establishing a prior estimates for positive solutions of the system via the blowing-up method.

Abstract:By using the complete discrimination system for polynomials, we study the number of positive solutions in C[0,1] to the integral equation phi(x) = integral(0)(1) k(x,y) phi(n)(y)dy, where k(x,y) = phi(1)(x)phi(1)(y) + phi(2)(x)phi(2)(y),phi(i)(x) > 0, phi(i)(y) > 0,0 < x, y < 1, i = 1, 2, are continuous functions on [0, 1], n is a positive integer. We prove the following results: when n = 1, either there does not exist, or there exist infinitely many positive solutions in C[0, 1]; when n greater than or equal to 2, there exist at least 1, at most n + 1 positive solutions in C[0, 1]. Necessary and sufficient conditions are derived for the cases: 1) n = 1, there exist positive solutions; 2) n greater than or equal to 2, there exist exactly m (m epsilon {1, 2,..., n + 1}) positive solutions. Our results generalize the ones existing in the literature, and their usefulness is shown by examples.

Abstract:In this paper, we classify all positive solutions of the critical anisotropic Sobolev equation \begin{equation*} -\Delta^{H}_{p}u = u^{p^{*}-1}, \ \ x\in \mathbb{R}^n \end{equation*} without the finite volume constraint for $n \geq 2$ and $\frac{(n+1)}{3} \leq p < n$, where $p^{*} = \frac{np}{n-p}$ denotes the critical Sobolev exponent and $-\Delta^{H}_{p}=-div(H^{p-1}(\cdot)\nabla H(\cdot))$ denotes the anisotropic $p$-Laplace operator. This result removes the finite volume assumption on the classification of critical anisotropic $p$-Laplace equation which was obtained by Ciraolo-Figalli-Roncoroni in the literature \cite{CFR}. The method is based on constructing suitable vector fields integral inequality and using Newton's type inequality.

Abstract:In this paper we will mainly propose some problems for a class of degenerate elliptic equations, either linear or nonlinear. We will study some special cases of these problems and reveal some phenomena which may not have been noticed previously.Our problems originated from the self-similar solutions of the heat flow of harmonic maps. We will prove that the self-similar solutions or the so-called quasi-harmonic spheres are discontinuous at infinity for the equivariant case. In other words, the equivariant quasi-harmonic spheres are not continuous images of topological spheres. (c) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
