Variation in Adzuki Bean (vigna Angularis) Germplasm Grown in China (vol 49, Pg 774, 2009)

Abstract:In Volume 49, No. 3, p. 774, of Crop Science, the description in Table 3 for the abbreviation y reads “Grain yield (kg ha−1), measured as weight of cleaned grain from a plot harvest.” The mean yield in Table 4 ranges from 153 to 203 kg ha−1 and the scale for the group mean response for yield for each location in Figure 2g ranges from 50 to 400 kg ha−1 These are in error as the grain yield data listed in Table 4 and plotted in Figure 2g are actually grams per plot, of area 4 m × 50 cm. The correct conversion to kg ha−1 requires the yield data to be multiplied by 5. Thus the correct range of location mean yields for each group in Table 4 is from 765 to 1015 kg ha−1 and in Figure 2g the scale ranges from 250 to 2,000 kg ha−1 The standard deviations of the location mean yields in Table 4 also need to be multiplied by 5 and thus range from 435 to 665 kg ha−1 This conversion has no effect on the other results, tables and figures reported in the paper. The measurement unit for Altitude for the origin of each accession listed in Supplementary Table 1 is meters (m). It was previously missing.
