Abstract:Impatiens longshanensis (The LSID for the name Impatiens longshanensis is: 77219154-1) sp. nov. and I. lihengiana (The LSID for the name I. lihengiana is: 77219153-1) sp. nov., from Hunan, China, are described and illustrated here. The molecular phylogenetic study suggests that I. longshanensis and I. lihengiana should be placed in the I. sect. Impatiens. A detailed description, diagnostic characters between the two new species and allied species, pollen and seed morphology, and color photographs are provided. In addition, based on wide sampling, we found that the longifilamenta group, an endemic group to China, whose members have basal lobes of lateral united petals with long filamentous hairs, shows significant morphological variability. In this paper, we discuss the taxonomic significance of morphological characteristics within this group. Based on a literature review and observation of living materials in the field, an updated identification key for this group is also proposed.

Abstract:A new species, Smilax weniae (Smilacaceae), from Southwest China, is described and illustrated. The new species bears peltate leaves, which was previously a unique feature of S. luei. However, it differs from the latter by having a broad ovate leaf blade, longer peduncle, and sexual dimorphic flowers. Further phylogenetic analyses revealed that the new species were placed in a unique position in a subclade of Old World Smilax based on ptDNA and nrITS sequences. Combining detailed morphological comparisons and molecular evidence, we validated that S. weniae is an undescribed new species. Moreover, the plastome characteristics of S. weniae are reported.

Abstract:During our ongoing survey of basidiomycetous yeasts associated with plant leaves in virgin forest, five Colacogloea strains were isolated in the Baotianman Nature Reserve, Henan Province, central China. Phenotypes from cultures and a phylogeny based on the internal transcribed spacer ( ITS ) regions and the D1/D2 domains of the large subunit ( LSU ) rRNA gene were employed to characterize and identify these isolates. As a result, two new species, namely Colacogloea celtidis sp. nov. and C. pararetinophila sp. nov. , are introduced herein. In the phylogeny of combined ITS and LSU dataset, the new species C. celtidis sp. nov. formed a clade with the unpublished Colacogloea strain (KBP: Y-6832), and together these formed the sister group to C. armeniacae , while C. pararetinophila sp. nov. was retrieved as a sister to C. retinophila . A detailed description and illustration of both new species, as well as the differences between them and their closest relatives in the genus are provided. Results from the present study will add to our knowledge of the biodiversity of Colacogloea in China.

Abstract:Carex qingliangensis D. M. Weng, H. W. Zhang & S. F. Xu, a new species of the Cyperaceae from Zhejiang, China, is described with illustrations. The new species is morphologically similar to C. dolichostachya Hayata and C. tianmushanica C. Z. Zheng & X. F. Jin, but differs from the former in having perigynia sparsely pubescent and achenes constricted into a short neck at apex. It differs from the latter in having achenes not contracted in the middle part.

Abstract:In preparation for the second edition of Flora of Zhejiang, two new species and a new variety of Fimbristylis, F. longquanensis, F. minuticulmis and F. stolonifera var. cylindrica, are described and illustrated in the present paper. Fimbristylis longquanensis is similar to F. complanata, but differs in being an annual habit with rhizomes absent, leaves 2–2.5 mm wide, bracts longer than or nearly equal to inflorescence, and nutlets smooth. Fimbristylis minuticulmis is simiar to F. diphylloides, but differs in having culms 2–12 cm tall, much shorter than leaves, spikelets broadly ovoid, obtuse at apex, scales acute at apex, stigmas 2, and nutlets biconvex. Fimbristylis stolonifera var. cylindrica differs from its autonymic variety in having the inflorescence simple, and spikelets cylindrical, 8–15 × 2.5–3 mm.

Abstract:Lecanorchis malipoensis (Vanilleae, Orchidaceae), a new species from Malipo in Wenshan, Yunnan, China, was described and illustrated. Lecanorchis malipoensis is morphological similar to L. thalassica and is distinguished from it by the shape and margins of mid-lobe, a villous callus in the centre of the upper part of the middle lobe.

Abstract:As the supplement of the flora of Zhejiang, East China, two new species were described with illustrations. Cerastiumhuadingense Y.F.Lu, W.Y.Xie & X.F.Jin (Caryophyllaceae) differs from C.qingliangfengicum in having sterile stems absent, leaves sessile, petals slightly longer than sepals, and stamens slightly shorter than sepals. Ixeridiumdimorphifolium Y.L.Xu, Y.F.Lu & X.Cai (Asteraceae) differs from I.beauverdianum in having plant stoloniferous, basal leaves dimorphic, involucre 8‒10 mm long, inner phyllaries 8, and florets 7‒10. Paraphlomissetulosa C.Y.Wu & H.W.Li (Lamiaceae) was reviewed and morphological characters of the corolla and stamens of its type and the specimens collected in the field survey were critically examined. With barbate anthers and strongly divergent anther cells, Paraphlomissetulosa was transferred to Sinopogonanthera, and S.setulosa (C.Y.Wu & H.W.Li) H.W.Zhang & X.F.Jin was consequently combined.

Abstract:Collybiopsis baiyunensis, a new species collected from Baiyun Mountain, Guangzhou, Southern China, is described based on phylogenetic analyses of combined ITS and nrLSU sequences and morphological evidence. It is characterized by its light brown to yellowish brown pileus with reddish orange to reddish brown disc and whitish margin, oblong to subcylindrical basidiospores, clavate to broadly clavate or spheropedunculate cheilocystidia, absence of pleurocystidia, and cylindrical or flexuose caulocystidia. Detailed morphological descriptions, phylogenetic analyses and comparisons with closely related species are presented.

Abstract:A new polypore in the family Hymenochaetaceae, Coltricia aridicola, is described and illustrated from China and the USA based on morphology and phylogenetic analysis. The species was found in northeast and southwest China and western USA, growing on soil in gymnosperm forests. It is characterized by an annual growth habit, centrally stipitate basidiocarps with regular pilei, pileal surface distinctly zonate, medium-sized pores as 3–4 per mm, a monomitic hyphal system, generative hyphae with simple septa, the presence of antler-like hyphal elements at the pileal surface, contextual hyphae almost twice the diameter of the tramal hyphae, thick-walled, yellowish, cyanophilous, oblong-ellipsoid basidiospores measuring 7–7.8 × 4.5–4.8 μm, and growth in dry environments such as burnt soil or open areas of ground in gymnosperm forests. The phylogenetic analysis based on ITS sequences showed that samples of C. aridicola nested in Coltricia, forming a monophyletic lineage with strong support (100 % BS, 100 % BP, 1.00 BPP). The differences between C. aridicola and its similar and related species in the genus are discussed.

Abstract:Paphiopedilum is known as “slipper orchids”, which has a high ornamental value and can be used as household bonsai and garden plants. Paphiopedilum is also one of the most beautiful plants in the world due to their exotic and unique flowers. An asexual fungus was collected from diseased leaves of Paphiopedilum sp. from Guizhou Province, China, is described and illustrated on the basis of morphological characters and molecular evidence. The morphologies of Curvicladiella paphiopedili sp. nov. were characterized by penicillate conidiophores with a stipe, dull, tapering towards the apex and the curved stipe extension, cylindrical conidia. In the phylogenetic analyses of combined LSU, cmdA, his3, ITS, tef1 and tub2 sequence data, this taxon was clustered as sister to Curvicladiella cignea within Nectriaceae.

Abstract:The Chinese species of Lilioceris are revised, and three new species are described from Tibet, China: Lilioceris zhentangensis Xu & Liang, sp. nov. , Lilioceris medogensis Xu & Liang, sp. nov. and Lilioceris zayuensis Xu & Liang, sp. nov. Five species of Lilioceris are reported for China as new records: L. dromedarius (Baly, 1861), L. pulchella (Baly, 1859), L. semicostata (Jacoby, 1908), L. unicolor (Hope, 1831) and L. nepalensis Takizawa, 1989. Lilioceris seminigra (Jacoby, 1889) is proposed as a junior synonym of L. unicolor Hope, 1831. Redescriptions, habitus photographs, geographic distributions, host plants (if available) and habitats are provided for these species.

Abstract:A new species, Ceratophysella gracilimucronata sp. nov. from Nan Ling Mountains (Guangdong Province, China), is described. It resembles C. ainu (Yosii, 1972), C. glancei Hammer, 1953 and C. falcifer Cassagnau, 1959 due to the B type chaeotataxy and short and slender mucro. Abstract:A new fungicolous species, Hydropisphaera spinulosa, is described and illustrated based on a collection from central China. It is characterized by non-stromatic perithecia that are solitary to gregarious, globose to subglobose, and becoming cupulate upon drying. The asci are clavate, without an apical ring, and with ascospores that are ellipsoidal to fusiform, uniseptate, and with a spinulose surface. The asexual state is acremonium-like. Comparisons are made between the new species and morphologically similar taxa. Its taxonomic position in Hydropisphaera is confirmed by sequence analysis of the large subunit of the nuclear ribosomal DNA.

Abstract:A new species of the genus Rhopalopsole (Plecoptera, Leuctridae) from Yunnan Province, China, Rhopalopsole dulongjianga sp. nov., is described and illustrated.This new species is compared to the similar species, Rhopalopsole bispina (Wu, 1949). Additionally, we provide a supplemental description and colour plates of R. bispina. A key to Rhopalopsole species from Yunnan Province, China, is also provided in this paper.

Abstract:The millipede family Polydesmidae Leach, 1816 is reviewed in the scope of the Vietnamese fauna. The distribution of the species, Polydesmus vietnamicus Nguyen, 2009 is extended northward to Ha Giang Province. A new cavernicolous polydesmid, Pacidesmus tuachua sp. nov. , is described from two caves in northwestern Vietnam, representing the first record of the genus from Vietnam. Extensive illustrations and DNA barcodes are provided for both species, a revised key is presented to all 12 species of Pacidesmus Golovatch, 1991, as well as a key to all eight genera of Asian Polydesmidae .

Abstract:Four anamorphic fungal species of Heteroconium were collected from tropical and subtropical forests in southern China. Among them, Heteroconium tsoongio-dendronis sp. nov. and Heteroconium fici sp. nov. are described from specimens collected on dead branches of Tsoongiodendron odorum and Ficus gibbosa, respectively. Two species of Heteroconium, H. decorosum and H ponapense, are recorded for the first time in China. A key to Heteroconium and related genera is also provided.
