Abstract:TYPE: Abstract Publication TOPIC: Occupational and Environmental Lung Diseases PURPOSE: OBJECTIVE: PM2.5 (Particulate matter 2.5) contributes to cardiovascular disease , CF6 (Coupling factor 6) is a novel vasoconstrictor. The mechanism between PM2.5 and CF6 remains unclear. METHODS: Rats were randomly divided into PM2.5 suspension group (PM2.5 suspension liquid instilled once every two days) and control group. The CF6 expression level was measured by IHC, RT-PCR, and ELISA after 30 days. RESULTS: CF6 mRNA and protein level in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid were significantly decreased in PM2.5 suspension group, however there was no significantly change in plasma. CONCLUSIONS: PM2.5 leads to the decrease of local CF6 in lung tissue. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: This study showed that the lung local CF6 level is down-regulated after PM2.5 exposure and CF6 may not be a mediator in air pollution related hypertension. These findings add to the meaningful evidence that lung local CF6 may be a compensatory factor for air pollution related hypertension and perturbations in blood pressure. DISCLOSURE: No significant relationships. KEYWORDS: Particulate matter 2.5, Coupling factor 6, Lung
