Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of normal saline and different concentrations of chlorhexidine oral care solution on patients with mechanical ventilation. Methods Patients who were admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital from May 2015 to September 2016 and met the admission criteria were selected as the research objects. Tail number according to the hospital, with reference to random number table it can be divided into four groups, with physiological saline, 0. 02% , 0. 20% and 2. 00% chlorhexidine for oral care. Results The incidences of VAP were 24. 10% , 11. 80% , 14. 50% and 11. 50% respectively in 4 groups, which had significantly differences ( P<0. 05). The incidence of oral ulcers were 7. 40% , 3. 90% , 5. 50% and 5. 80% respectively in 4 groups, which had no signif-icantly differences ( P>0. 05) . The mechanical ventilation time were (10. 42 ±2. 03) days, (7. 58 ±1. 82) days, (8. 26±1. 77) days and (8. 34±1. 84) days, which had significantly differences (P<0. 05). There were statistical-ly significant differences in the number of bacterial colonies between the four groups at 3 measurement points ( P<0. 05). Conclusions 0. 2% chlorhexidine solution with low risk of adverse reaction, can reduce bacterial colonies and the incidence of VAP, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
