Abstract:Objective A feasibility study on a complete independent development telemetric pressure sensor to detect aneurysm sac pressure (ASP) is performed in an in vitro model of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA).Methods The ASP wireless examination system was composed of an implantable sensor capsule,an energy emission system,a data receiver and a data processing system. In in vitro test, the sensor capsule was planted into a modified AAA model, and its performance was tested under different system pressure [50,150,250 mm Hg ( 1 mm Hg =0.133 kPa) ],temperature (42,37,32℃ ),and measuring distance (5,10,30,50 cm),respectively. We further measured the ASP in different states of matter (liquid,semi-liquid and gel type solid) after simulated exclusion. Results Under the different test conditions, data obtained by the sensor showed no significant difference from the control pressure ( P >0.05).The data processing software was reliable and credible.Maximum detecting distance of energy emission system and data receiver was 8 cm and 50 cm,respectively. When the aneurysm was excluded,ASP was decreased to 20% of system pressure, consistent with the status of exclusion ( P <0.01 ).Conclusion The feasibility and validity of the ASP wireless measurement system was confirmed in this in vitro study.
