Abstract:The thalamus serves as a relay center for sensory and motor functions and has been known to be impaired in psychosis; however, less is known about its individual nuclei. We sought to distinguish differences in thalamic nuclei within DSM-V diagnoses and neurobiologically defined groups, “biotypes,” developed by the BSNIP consortium. We predict that biotypes would be a better indicator for thalamic nuclei differences over diagnostic groups, with biotype 1 (BT1) having the greatest impairments.
