Abstract:Rothia mucilaginosa (R. mucilaginosa) is a Gram-positive coccus and facultative anaerobic bacterium, and is part of the normal flora in the oral cavity and upper respiratory tract. 1 Collins MD Hutson RA Baverud V et al. Our hope is to improve awareness about this bacterium and the possibility that immunocompetent patients may also be susceptible to this opportunistic pathogen if they have concomitant chronic diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and diabetes.
