Abstract:It is currently advocated in China that critical thinking is the basic quality and ability that innovative engineers should have,but in our current engineering education,it has not been given due attention.In this paper,four years ’ critical thinking training carried out by the practice of education programs for the "seed class" at the Huazhong University of Qiming College has explained critical thinking in engineering education.When it comes to teaching and learning content,it should follow the spirit of the principles like truth,justice,openness,and reflection.When it comes to teaching methods,it should focus on the students ’ self-construction,as well as stimulate students ’ awareness of initiative,interaction and innovation.When it comes to the evaluation system,it should take on a flexible assessment and competency-based approach.Besides,we should seek localization in materials and seek a closer combination with engineering practice.We believe that this kind of education is to help students get rid of the traditional mindset and knowledge framework,resulting in independent thinking,innovation,rigorous care,courage to compete and independent problem-solving skills.
