Abstract:In this short note, we prove that a complex Finsler vector bundle with positive Kobayashi curvature must be ample, which partially solves a problem of S. Kobayashi posed in 1975. As applications, a strongly pseudoconvex complex Finsler manifold with positive Kobayashi curvature must be biholomorphic to the complex projective space; we also show that all Schur polynomials are numerically positive for complex Finsler vector bundles with positive Kobayashi curvature.

Abstract:In this paper, we show that if the tangent bundle of a smooth projective variety is strictly nef, then it is isomorphic to a projective space; if a projective variety X^n (n>4) has strictly nef Λ^2 TX, then it is isomorphic to ℙ^n or quadric ℚ^n. We also prove that on elliptic curves, strictly nef vector bundles are ample, whereas there exist Hermitian flat and strictly nef vector bundles on any smooth curve with genus g≥ 2.
Positivity and vanishing theorems in complex and algebraic geometry

Abstract:In this thesis, we consider geometric properties of vector bundles arising from algebraic and Hermitian geometry. On vector bundles in algebraic geometry, such as ample, nef and globally generated vector bundles, we are able to construct positive Hermitian metrics in different senses(e.g. Griffiths-positive, Nakano-positive and dual-Nakano-positive) by L2-method and deduce many new vanishing theorems for them by analytic method instead of the Le Potier-Leray spectral sequence method. On Hermitian manifolds, we find that the second Ricci curvature tensors of various metric connections are closely related to the geometry of Hermitian manifolds. We can derive various vanishing theorems for Hermitian manifolds and also for complex vector bundles over Hermitian manifolds by their second Ricci curvature tensors. We also introduce a natural geometric flow on Hermitian manifolds by using the second Ricci curvature tensor.

Abstract:Let p : chi -> S be a proper Kahler fibration and epsilon -> chi a Hermitian holomorphic vector bundle. As motivated by the work of Berndtsson ([Bern09]), by using basic Hodge theory, we derive several general curvature formulas for the direct image p(*) (K-chi/S circle times epsilon) for general Hermitian holomorphic vector bundle epsilon in a simple way. A straightforward application is that, if the family chi -> S is infinitesimally trivial and Hermitian vector bundle epsilon is Nakano-negative along the base S, then the direct image p(*) (K-chi/S circle times epsilon) is Nakano-negative. We also use these curvature formulas to study the moduli space of projectively flat vector bundles with positive first Chern classes and obtain that, if the Chern curvature of direct image p(*)(K-X circle times E)-of a positive projectively flat family (E, h(t))(t is an element of D) -> X-vanishes, then the curvature forms of this family are connected by holomorphic automorphisms of the pair (X, E).

Abstract:Suppose that X X is a projective manifold whose tangent bundle T X T_X contains a locally free strictly nef subsheaf. We prove that X X is isomorphic to either a projective space or a projective bundle over a hyperbolic manifold of general type. Moreover, if the fundamental group π 1 ( X ) \pi _1(X) is virtually solvable, then X X is isomorphic to a projective space.

Abstract:We prove that the direct image of an anti-ample vector bundle is anti-ample under any finite flat morphism of non-singular projective varieties. In the second part we prove some properties of big and nef vector bundles. In particular it is shown that the tensor product of a nef vector bundle with a nef and big vector bundle is again nef and big. This generalizes a result of Schneider.

Abstract:We classify compact Kähler manifolds with semi-positive holomorphic bisectional and big tangent bundles. We also classify compact complex surfaces with semi-positive tangent bundles and compact complex 3-folds of the form ${\mathbb P}(T^*X)$ whose tangent bundles are nef. Moreover, we show that if X is a Fano manifold such that ${\mathbb P}(T^*X)$ has nef tangent bundle, then $X\cong {\mathbb P}^n$.

Abstract:We present a geometric model for the category of vector bundles over the weighted projective line of type (2,2,n). This model is based on the orbit space of an infinite marked strip under a specific group action. We establish a bijection between indecomposable bundles and orbits of line segments on the strip, which yields geometric interpretations for various aspects, including the Picard group action, vector bundle duality, dimension of extension group, projective cover and injective hull of extension bundle, etc.

As an application, we derive the classification of projective manifolds containing a $\mathbb{P}^r$-bundle as an ample divisor by the recent work of D.~Litt.

Abstract:This article is concerned with Chern class and Chern number inequalities on polarized manifolds and nef vector bundles. For a polarized pair $(M,L)$ with $L$ very ample, our 1st main result is a family of sharp Chern class inequalities. Among them the 1st one is a variant of a classical result and the equality case of the 2nd one is a characterization of hypersurfaces. The 2nd main result is a Chern number inequality on it, which includes a reverse Miyaoka–Yau-type inequality. The 3rd main result is that the Chern numbers of a nef vector bundle over a compact Kähler manifold are bounded below by the Euler number. As an application, we classify compact Kähler manifolds with nonnegative bisectional curvature whose Chern numbers are all positive. A conjecture related to the Euler number of compact Kähler manifolds with nonpositive bisectional curvature is proposed, which can be regarded as a complex analogue to the Hopf conjecture.

Abstract:We extend our family rigidity and vanishing theorems in [LiuMaZ] to the Spin c case.In particular, we prove a ^-theory version of the main results of [H], [Liul, Theorem B] for a family of almost complex manifolds.0. Introduction.Let M, B be two compact smooth manifolds, and TT : M -» B be a smooth fibration with compact fibre X.Let TX be the relative tangent bundle.Assume that a compact Lie group G acts fiberwise on M, that is, the action preserves each fiber of TT.Let P be a family of G-equivariant elliptic operators along the fiber X.Then the family index of P, Ind(P), is a well-defined element in K(B) (cf.[AS]) and is a virtual G-representation (cf.[LiuMal]).We denote by (Ind(P)) G £ K(B) the G-invariant part of Ind(P).A family of elliptic operator P is said to be rigid on the equivariant Chern character level with respect to this G-action, if the equivariant Chern character ch 5 (Ind(P)) G H*(B) is independent of g G G. Abstract:Let $X$ be a smooth projective manifold with $\dim _{\mathbb{C}}X=n$ . We show that if a line bundle $L$ is $(n-1)$ -ample, then it is $(n-1)$ -positive. This is a partial converse to the Andreotti–Grauert theorem. As an application, we show that a projective manifold $X$ is uniruled if and only if there exists a Hermitian metric $\unicode[STIX]{x1D714}$ on $X$ such that its Ricci curvature $\text{Ric}(\unicode[STIX]{x1D714})$ has at least one positive eigenvalue everywhere.

Abstract:In this paper we generalise the theory of real vector bundles to a certain class of non-Hausdorff manifolds. In particular, it is shown that every vector bundle fibred over these non-Hausdorff manifolds can be constructed as a colimit of standard vector bundles. We then use this description to introduce various formulas that express non-Hausdorff structures in terms of data defined on certain Hausdorff submanifolds. Finally, we use Čech cohomology to classify the real non-Hausdorff line bundles.

Abstract:Abstract Let be a projective klt pair, and a fibration to a smooth projective variety with strictly nef relative anti‐log canonical divisor . We prove that is a locally trivial fibration with rationally connected fibres, and the base is a canonically polarized hyperbolic manifold. In particular, when is a single point, we establish that is rationally connected. Moreover, when and is strictly nef, we prove that is ample, which confirms the singular version of a conjecture by Campana and Peternell for threefolds.

Abstract:We define formal orbifolds over an algebraically closed field of arbitrary characteristic as curves together with some branch data. Their étale coverings and their fundamental groups are also defined. These fundamental group approximates the fundamental group of an appropriate affine curve. We also define vector bundles on these objects and the category of orbifold bundles on any smooth projective curve. Analogues of various statement about vector bundles which are true in characteristic zero are proved. Some of these are positive characteristic avatar of notions which appear in the second author's work ([Par]) in characteristic zero.
