Synthesis of green phosphor Zn2SiO4 : Mn2+ by sol gel method and study of its luminescent properties

Abstract:Green phosphor Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ that possessed excellent photoluminescent properties was synthesized with inorganic salts and citric acid by sol-gel method. The result of XRD showed that the samples were more crystalline when calcined at 1100degreesC, and the brightness increased with the raise of calcining temperature. The luminescent properties varied with different contents of Mn2+ and the optimum was obtained when Mn2+=5 mol%. The influences of different additives to gel rate, crystal size, and brightness in sol-gel preparations were researched, and showed that the addition of polymeric surfactant could prevent the growth of the particles by steric hindrance, and increased the brightness to some extent consequently.
