Abstract:Based on many achievements and experiences in artificial intelligence and software engineering about program design automation, a new special-domain and stepwise intelligent development method is proposed in this paper. Referencing to the lifecycle method and the prototype method, the intelligent developments of detail design, outline design and requirement analysis are discussed in detail successively. Then the relations among those three intelligent development steps are explained clearly. Finally, the characteristics and the advantages of this method are analyzed in depth, which shows that it is a feasible development way for intelligent information system.

Abstract:Software has made more progress during the last few years than any years before that. New technology is coming every day and it is impossible for every one to catch up with it. Two technologies and their impacts on software development are presented: software reusability, which can significantly improve software productivity; and Internet computing, which provides a new testbed for software applications as well as their development. Software reusability and Internet computing change the way software will be developed. We discuss some of their impacts.

Abstract:Software engineering is a discipline that undergone many improvements that aims to keep up with the new advancements in technologies and the modern business requirements through developing effective approaches to reach the final software product, agile software development is one of these successful approaches. Agile software development is a lightweight approach that was proposed to overcome the convolutional development methods’ limitations and to reduce the overhead and the cost while providing flexibility to adopt the changes in requirements at any stage, this is done by managing the tasks and their coordination through a certain set of values and principles. In this work, a comprehensive review that outlines the main agile values and principles, and states the key differences that distinguish agile methods over the traditional ones are presented. Then a discussion of the most popular agile methodologies; their life cycles, their roles, and their advantages and disadvantages are outlined. The recent state of art trends that adopts agile development especially in cloud computing, big data, and coordination are also explored. And finally, this work highlights how to choose the best suitable agile methodology that must be selected according to the task at hand, how sensitive the product is and the organization structure.

Abstract:Software technology is not only the core of information technology industry, but also the important foundation of software industry and information applications. Nowadays, information technology which is on the eve of the breakthrough of a new round critical technology will greatly push the information industry and software industry forward to new development and put new requirements for software technology, and also certainly leads momentous changes in software technology. Through the analysis of main factors of affecting software technology development, this paper presents that software technology is quickening towards networking, convergence, trustworthy, intelligence, engineering and servicing. New features and new connotations of the trends of software technology development are interpreted in detail. Abstract:Purpose Agile software development is an emerging approach in software engineering, initially proposed and promoted by a group of 17 software professionals who practice a set of “lightweight” methods, and share a common set of values of software development. They consolidated their thoughts, and defined these methods as “agile”. The approaches are based on experiences and best practices from the past by the above‐mentioned group of 17 software professionals. The purpose of this article is to outline the history and evolution of agile software development practices, their principles, and the criticisms as reported by the software development community. Design/methodology/approach A comprehensive literature review was undertaken to do this research. Findings Based on the literature review, this paper provides a comprehensive document that helps the practitioners working in the area of the agile software development. Originality/value This article will provide comprehensive material for the researchers in the area of agile software development. It will also be very useful for the practitioners practicing software development in the area of agile software development.

Abstract:Any organization that will develop software is faced with a difficult choice of choosing the right software development method. Whereas the software development methods used, play a significant role in the overall software development process. Software development methods are needed so that the software development process can be systematic so that it is not only completed within the right time frame but also must have good quality. There are various methods of software development in System Development Lyfe Cycle (SDLC). Each SDLC method provides a general guiding line about different software development and has different characteristics. Each method of software development has its drawbacks and advantages so that the selection of software development methods should be compatible with the capacity of the software developed. This paper will compare three different software development methods: V-Shaped Model, Parallel Development Model, and Iterative Model with the aim of providing an understanding of software developers to choose the right method.

Abstract:This paper presents research trends in management issues (project management, process management, knowledge management, requirements management, configuration management, risk management, quality management) of distributed/global information system development. The main objective is to highlight the current research and practice direction in these areas. The results are based on peer-reviewed conference papers/journal articles, published between 2000 and early 2011. The analysis revealed that most research has been done in project management, process management, knowledge management and requirements management areas while configuration, risk, and quality management issues could get only limited attention in global/distributed information system development. This indicates the need for future research (quantitative and qualitative) in these areas.

Abstract:In this paper，the main challenges of software development and current situation of software process application are introduced, followed by the study of two software process improvement approach, top-down and bottom-up. The top-down approach is based on SW-CMM process framework and directed by its five level structure. The bottom-up is product-based process improvement. There are three sub-processes in bottom-up software process improvement model: “understanding”， “assessing”， and “packaging”. The baseline of software process is established in “understanding” stage. Process changes are imported and their impact is evaluated in “assessing” stage. The successful practices are packaged in the “packaging” stage. Then, the comparisons between two approaches are discussed on four aspects：software process improvement goals, software process baseline, software process change assessing, and software process improvement approach.

Abstract:Agile approaches are proved by numerous case studies and reports to be effective and constructive in desktop software development. However, the situation is quite different in the embedded world due to the unique characteristics of the embedded software projects, which bring many difficulties to developers. And little is known about the current application status of agile methods to cope with this special domain. In this paper, a systematic review was conducted to explore the particularity of the embedded software development and the relevant solutions using agile methods and practices. The result will supply a guideline to choose the appropriate agile elements to deal with the challenges derived from embedded characteristics.

Abstract:Software developers often find answers to their programming issues on the Internet. Q&A (Question & Answer) websites has been becoming more and more popular. Among the available technical Q&A sites, the most prevalent one is the Stack Overflow, it has been becoming one of the invaluable knowledge repositories. The development trends of language and mainstream operation systems are discussed by using the SVD (Singular Value Decomposition) and K-means algorithm in this paper. Some key findings include: Traditional programming languages such as C#, C++, C develop slowly and the light script languages such as Php, JavaScript and Python develop rapidly, traditional operation systems such as Windows and Linux develop slowly and the mobile devices operation systems such as IOS and Android develop rapidly. Through studying and analyzing the development of mainstream technology, people can grasp the dynamic situation of the software field, which has important and far-reaching significance to guide the work of software engineering.

Abstract:Software has been playing a key role in the development of modern society. Software industry has an option to choose suitable methodology/process model for its current needs to provide solutions to give problems. Though some companies have their own customized methodology for developing their software but majority agrees that software methodologies fall under two categories that are heavyweight and lightweight. Heavyweight methodologies (Waterfall Model, Spiral Model) are also known as the traditional methodologies, and their focuses are detailed documentation, inclusive planning, and extroverted design. Lightweight methodologies (XP, SCRUM) are, referred as agile methodologies. Light weight methodologies focused mainly on short iterative cycles, and rely on the knowledge within a team. The aim of this paper is to describe the characteristics of popular heavyweight and lightweight methodologies that are widely practiced in software industries. We have discussed the strengths and weakness of the selected models. Further we have discussed the strengths and weakness between the two opponent methodologies and some criteria is also illustrated that help project managers for the selection of suitable model for their projects.
