Abstract:We consider a linear integro-differential equation (IDE) of first order with two variable delays. We construct new conditions guaranteeing the trivial solution of this IDE is stable. The technique of the proof based on the use of the fixed-point theory. Our findings generalize and improve some results can be found in the literature.

Abstract:This paper addresses the D-stability problem of linear continuous-time systems with multiple time delays. A sufficient condition to guarantee all poles of a given linear time-delay system located in the specified region is proposed. This condition can be solved using LMI toolbox. The result is also extended to the robust D-stability problem of perturbed linear time-delay systems. The illustrative example shows that this method is effective to check the D-stability of linear time-delay systems.

Abstract:The problems of D-stability and D-stabilization for linear discrete singular systems with state delay are addressed in this paper. By using the state augmentation technique, a necessary and sufficient D-stability condition and a sufficient D-stabilization condition for linear discrete singular time-delay systems are firstly proposed. Then, based on these conditions, quadratic D-stability and D-stabilization conditions for linear discrete singular time-delay systems with norm-bounded uncertainties and interval uncertainties are obtained, respectively. Both the D-stability and D-stabilization conditions are proposed in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Finally, illustrative examples show that the proposed conditions are effective to check the D-stability and to design the D-stabilizing controller for linear discrete singular time-delay systems.

Abstract:In this work, we examine a third-order nonlinear neutral integro-differential equation with constant delay. By building a Lyapunov functional, we obtain some sufficient criteria that ensure the asymptotic stability and boundedness of solutions for an analyzed equation. We present two examples to demonstrate the applicability of our conclusions, which extend and improve several well-known results in the literature.

Abstract:In the paper, Tian and Wang (Appl Math Lett 105:106325, 8 pp, 2020, Theorem 1) took into consideration a linear system of integro-delay differential equations (IDDEs) with constant time retardation. In Tian and Wang (2020), the authors proved a new and interesting theorem concerning asymptotically stability of zero solution of that linear system of IDDEs with constant time retardation. Tian and Wang (2020) constructed a new Lyapunov–Krasovskiĭ functional (LKF) and used that LKF to prove the related theorem on the asymptotically stability. To the best of the information, we would like to note that the asymptotically stability result of Tian and Wang (2020, Theorem 1) consists of very interesting and strong conditions. However, in this paper, we construct a more suitable LKF, then we obtain the result of Tian and Wang (2020, Theorem 1) for uniformly asymptotically stability of zero solution under very weaker condition using that LKF as well as we investigate the integrability of the norm and boundedness of solutions. For illustrative aims, in particular cases, two numerical examples are provided for the uniformly asymptotically stability of zero solution as well as integrability and boundedness of solutions. By this work, we do a contribution to the topic of the paper and relevant literature. The results of this paper have also new contributions to the former literature and they may useful for researchers working on the topics of this paper.

Abstract:This study establishes the existence and stability of solutions for a general class of Riemann–Liouville (RL) fractional differential equations (FDEs) with a variable order and finite delay. Our findings are confirmed by the fixed-point theorems (FPTs) from the available literature. We transform the RL FDE of variable order to alternate RL fractional integral structure, then with the use of classical FPTs, the existence results are studied and the Hyers–Ulam stability is established by the help of standard notions. The approach is more broad-based and the same methodology can be used for a number of additional issues.

Abstract:We consider a hybrid SDE (stochastic differential equation) with variable delays, which is unstable and its coefficients satisfy some polynomial growth conditions. We want to find a variable-delays feedback control such that the controlled hybrid SDE with variable delay becomes stable. We establish some novel stability criteria of the controlled SDE with variable delays. Our results improve the existing results from hybrid SDEs with constant-delays to hybrid SDEs with variable-delays. Finally, an example is given to confirm our results.

Abstract:Existence and stability of solutions are important parts in the qualitative study of delay differential equations. The stabilizing by imposing proper impulse controls are used in many areas of natural sciences and engineering. This article provides sufficient conditions for the existence and exponential stabilization of solutions to delay impulsive differential equations of second-order with multiple delays. The main tools in this article are the Schaefer fixed point theorem, fixed impulse effects, and Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals. The outcomes extend earlier results in the literature. Abstract:For a wide class of second order nonlinear non-autonomous models, we illustrate that combining proportional state control with the feedback that is proportional to the derivative of the chaotic signal, allows to stabilize unstable motions of the system. The delays are variable, which leads to more flexible controls permitting delay perturbations; only delay bounds are significant for stabilization by a delayed control. The results are applied to the sunflower equation which has an infinite number of equilibrium points.

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss the asymptotic stability of the trajectories governed by the scalar delay differential inequalities: D+x(t)≤−a(t)x(t)+b(t)sup0≤s≤τ̄x(t−s). Here, the requirements on a(t) and b(t) are more relaxed than those in previous works. For example, a(t), b(t), and a(t)−b(t) are not necessarily nonnegative. We prove that when τ̄ is small, the asymptotic stability of x(t) can be obtained if the time average of a(t)−b(t) on some fixed length T is lower bounded by some positive δ. And we explicitly give the upper bound of τ̄. We also give two applications of the theoretical results. First, we consider self synchronization in Hopfield networks with time varying connections. Then we investigate consensus in networks with time varying topologies and arbitrary coupling weights. In both applications, we extend some of our previous works where time delays are not considered. At last, two numerical examples with simulations are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Abstract:In this paper, a definition of the fundamental operator for the linear autonomous functional differential equation with infinite delay in a Banach space is given, and some sufficient and necessary conditions of the fundamental operator being exponentially stable in abstract phase spaces which satisfy some suitable hypotheses are obtained. Moreover, we discuss the relation between the exponential asymptotic stability of the zero solution of nonlinear functional differential equation with infinite delay in a Banach space and the exponential stability of the solution semigroup of the corresponding linear equation, and find that the exponential stability problem of the zero solution for the nonlinear equation can be discussed only in the exponentially fading memory phase space.

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly study the almost sure exponential stability of impulsive stochastic differential delay equations (ISDDEs) with bounded variable delays. The main technique is to compare ISDDEs with corresponding impulsive stochastic differential equations (ISDEs) without delay, to obtain the upper bound τ∗ of delays that ISDDEs can maintain stability by accurate calculation. The results show that if the corresponding ISDEs are almost surely exponentially stable, then the ISDDEs are also almost surely exponentially stable as long as these delays are less than τ∗ . In addition, the stability theory established in this paper can be applied to noise stabilization based on sampled-data observations of a class of unstable impulsive systems. Taking impulsive Lurie systems (ILSs) as an example, we discuss the design of noise stabilization strategies.

Abstract:In this paper, we design a stabilizing state-feedback control law for a system represented by a general class of integral delay equations subject to a pointwise and distributed input delay. The proposed controller is defined in terms of integrals of the state and input history over a fixed-length time window. We show that the closed-loop stability is guaranteed, provided the controller integral kernels are solutions to a set of Fredholm equations. The existence of solutions is guaranteed under an appropriate spectral controllability assumption, resulting in an implementable stabilizing control law. The proposed methodology appears simpler and more general compared to existing results in the literature. In particular, under additional regularity assumptions, the proposed approach can be expanded to address the degenerate case where only a distributed control term is present.

Abstract:In this work, we delve into a nonlinear integral equation (IEq) with multiple variable time delays and a nonlinear integro-differential equation (IDEq) without delay. Global existence and uniqueness (GEU) of solutions of that IEq with multiple variable time delays and IDEq are investigated by the fixed point method using progressive contractions, which are due to T.A. Burton. We prove four new theorems including sufficient conditions with regard to GEU of solutions of the equations. The results generalize and improve some related published results of the relevant literature.

Abstract:This article is concerned with the strong stability problem of linear continuous-time delay-difference equations with multiple time delays. A family of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), indexed by a positive integer <span class="mjpage"><svg xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" width="1.211ex" height="2.176ex" style="vertical-align: -0.338ex;" viewBox="0 -791.3 521.5 936.9" role="img" focusable="false" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><g stroke="currentColor" fill="currentColor" stroke-width="0" transform="matrix(1 0 0 -1 0 0)"> <use xlink:href="#MJMATHI-6B" x="0" y="0"></use></g></svg></span>, is derived to assess strong stability. A time-domain interpretation of the proposed LMI-based condition is given in terms of a quadratic integral Lyapunov functional, which allows us to reveal relations with an existing result. The LMI condition can easily be reformulated in a form where the dependence on the coefficients of the delay-difference equation is affine, which is instrumental to establishing a sufficient LMI condition for robust strong stability of delay-difference equations with norm-bounded uncertainty. A necessary and sufficient condition for robust strong stability is also given, in the form of a structured singular value characterization. Abstract:This paper investigates the stability issues of time-varying delay systems. Firstly, a novel augmented Lyapunov functional is constructed for a class of bounded time-varying delays by introducing new double integral terms. Subsequently, a time-varying matrix-dependent zero equation is introduced to relax the constraints of traditional constant matrix-dependent zero equations. Secondly, for a class of periodic time-varying delays, considering the monotonicity of the delay and combining it with an augmented variable approach, Lyapunov functionals are constructed for monotonically increasing and monotonically decreasing delay intervals, respectively. Based on the constructed augmented Lyapunov functionals and the employed time-varying zero equation, less conservative stability criteria are obtained separately for bounded and periodic time-varying delays. Lastly, three examples are used to verify the superiority of the stability conditions obtained in this paper.

Abstract:Many phenomena in nature can be described by establishing differential equation models. To be more practical, we extend the instantaneous impulsive delay differential equations proposed by Faria and Oliveira to the non-instantaneous impulsive delay differential equations. This paper proposes a class of non-instantaneous impulsive delay differential equations which satisfy Yorke-type condition. With the help of the definitions of stability, sufficient conditions for stability and the global asymptotic stability of the zero solution of this model are given. Finally, we give some examples and numerical simulations.
