Abstract:In recent years, the number of buildings in China that have obtained Chinese green building certification has grown exponentially. The development of green and low carbon buildings in China is reflected by not only the amount and magnitude of green buildings but also by the improvement of building energy efficiency and indoor environment quality. However, numerous researches also reveal great performance gap between the actual and design expected performance of certificated green buildings. The actual performances of some certificated green buildings are far lower than the design expected performances, some of which even consume more energy than the local average values of the non -certificated green buildings. It is in urgent need to solve the problem of the performance gap, which is the key point to ensure the green building industry develop healthily, to prevent investment waste of green building, and to achieve energy saving, CO2 emission reduction, and environment protection in building sector. Considering that the Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning( HVAC) system occupies the main proportion of building energy consumption during operational phase, this paper focuses on studying the optimization methodology for the operation of HVAC systems for improving building energy efficiency. This paper proposes a control optimization method for the heating/cooling source of HVAC systems based on the visualization of the operation modes. It can be used to quickly detect and diagnose the problems existing in the operation of HVAC system. Corresponding to the problems detected by the visualization, then the model of the studied building is built to simulate the performance of the building at different control strategies. The control strategy that can achieve the minimum energy consumption is determined to be the optimal control strategy. By simulation analysis, the optimal operation control strategy can be put forward. The quantitative energy saving and CO2 emission reduction brought by the optimal solutions can be proposed as well. Taking an actual building with three -star green building certification as an example, its actual operation modes are visualized. By the visualization, the problem of irrational running schedule of heating system is detected. Through the simulation analysis, the optimal running schedule is determined. The simulated energy consumptions show that the heating system running at the optimal schedule can not only satisfy the indoor temperature requirement, but also can save heating energy by 21. 3％. In order to verify the actual energy saving effect, field experiment was conducted as well at the case study building. The energies of the heating system running at optimal schedule and present non - optimal schedule are compared. The experiment results show that the daily summed heating amount of the heating system with optimal running schedule was 19. 5％ less than that with the present non-optimized schedule. Further, the daily summed power consumptions of heat pumps and circulation pumps were saved by 27. 4％. The simulated energy saving is similar to the field experiment measurement. Both simulation analysis and experiment study show the optimal methodology for the HVAC system of green building proposed by this paper is capable of saving considerable energy and valuable for actual application.
