Abstract:We prove the existence of Kahler-Einstein metric on a K-stable Fano manifold using the recent compactness result on Kahler-Ricci flows. The key ingredient is an algebro-geometric description of the asymptotic behavior of Kahler-Ricci flow on Fano manifolds. This is in turn based on a general finite dimensional discussion, which is interesting in its own and could potentially apply to other problems. As one application, we relate the asymptotics of the Calabi flow on a polarized Kahler manifold to K-stability assuming bounds on geometry.

Abstract: In our previous paper math.DG/0010008, we develop some new techniques in attacking the convergence problems for the K\"ahler Ricci flow. The one of main ideas is to find a set of new functionals on curvature tensors such that the Ricci flow is the gradient like flow of these functionals. We successfully find such functionals in case of Kaehler manifolds. On K\"ahler-Einstein manifold with positive scalar curvature, if the initial metric has positive bisectional curvature, we prove that these functionals have a uniform lower bound, via the effective use of Tian's inequality. Consequently, we prove the following theorem: Let $M$ be a K\"ahler-Einstein manifold with positive scalar curvature. If the initial metric has nonnegative bisectional curvature and positive at least at one point, then the K\"ahler Ricci flow will converge exponentially fast to a K\"ahler-Einstein metric with constant bisectional curvature. Such a result holds for K\"ahler-Einstein orbifolds.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a class of contracting flows of closed, convex hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space $${\mathbb {R}}^{n+1}$$ with speed $$r^{\alpha } \sigma _k$$, where $$\sigma _k$$ is the k-th elementary symmetric polynomial of the principal curvatures, $$\alpha \in {\mathbb {R}}^1$$, and r is the distance from the hypersurface to the origin. If $$\alpha \ge k+1$$, we prove that the flow exists for all time, preserves the convexity and converges smoothly after normalisation to a sphere centred at the origin. If $$\alpha <k+1$$, a counterexample is given for the above convergence. In the case $$k=1$$ and $$\alpha \ge 2$$, we also prove that the flow converges to a round point if the initial hypersurface is weakly mean-convex and star-shaped.

Abstract:Let $(M,J)$ be a Fano manifold which admits a Kähler-Einstein metric $g_{KE}$ (or a Kähler-Ricci soliton $g_{KS}$). Then we prove that Kähler-Ricci flow on $(M,J)$ converges to $g_{KE}$ (or $g_{KS}$) in $C^\infty $ in the sense of Kähler potentials modulo holomorphisms transformation as long as an initial Kähler metric of flow is very closed to $g_{KE}$ (or $g_{KS}$). The result improves Main Theorem in [14] in the sense of stability of Kähler-Ricci flow.

Abstract:We show the convergence of Kähler Ricci flow directly if the α -invariant of the canonical class is greater than n/n+1 . Applying these convergence theorems, we can give a Kähler Ricci flow proof of Calabi conjecture on such Fano manifolds. In particular, the existence of KE metrics on a lot of Fano surfaces can be proved by flow method. Note that this geometric conclusion (based on the same assumption) was established earlier via elliptic method by Tian (Invent. Math. 89(2):225–246, 1987 ; Invent. Math. 101(1):101–172, 1990 ; Invent. Math. 130:1–39, 1997 ). However, a new proof based on Kähler Ricci flow should be still interesting in its own right.

Abstract:where g(t) is a family of Kähler metrics and Ric(ωg) denotes the Ricci curvature of g. It is known that for any smooth Kähler metric g0, there is a unique solution g(t) of (1.1) for some maximal time T > 0 with g(0) = g0. In general, T will depend on the initial metric g0. However, in Kähler manifold, this only depends on the Kähler class and the first Chern class. This observation plays a important role in our introduction of weak Ricci flow in Kähler manifold.

Abstract:. In this paper, we prove that if M is a Kähler-Einstein surface with positive scalar curvature, if the initial metric has nonnegative sectional curvature, and the curvature is positive somewhere, then the Kähler-Ricci flow converges to a Kähler-Einstein metric with constant bisectional curvature. In a subsequent paper [7], we prove the same result for general Kähler-Einstein manifolds in all dimension. This gives an affirmative answer to a long standing problem in Kähler Ricci flow: On a compact Kähler-Einstein manifold, does the Kähler-Ricci flow converge to a Kähler-Einstein metric if the initial metric has a positive bisectional curvature? Our main method is to find a set of new functionals which are essentially decreasing under the Kähler Ricci flow while they have uniform lower bounds. This property gives the crucial estimate we need to tackle this problem.

Abstract:We study the Kähler-Ricci flow on compact Kähler manifolds whose canonical bundle is big. We show that the normalized Kähler-Ricci flow has long time existence in the viscosity sense, is continuous in a Zariski open set, and converges to the unique singular Kähler-Einstein metric in the canonical class. The key ingredient is a viscosity theory for degenerate complex Monge-Ampère flows in big classes that we develop, extending and refining the approach of Eyssidieux-Guedj-Zeriahi.

Abstract:On a Fano manifold, we prove that the Kahler-Ricci flow starting from a Kahler metric in the anti-canonical class which is sufficiently close to a Kahler-Einstein metric must converge in a polynomial rate to a Kahler-Einstein metric. The convergence can not happen in general if we study the flow on the level of Kahler potentials. Instead we exploit the interpretation of the Ricci flow as the gradient flow of Perelman's \mu functional. This involves modifying the Ricci flow by a canonical family of gauges. In particular, the complex structure of the limit could be different in general. The main technical ingredient is a Lojasiewicz type inequality for Perelman's \mu functional near a critical point.

Abstract:These are the notes for lectures given at the Sanya winter school in complex analysis and geometry in January 2016. In Sec. 1, we review the meaning of Ricci curvature of Kähler metrics and introduce the problem of finding Kähler–Einstein metrics. In Sec. 2, we describe the formal picture that leads to the notion of K-stability of Fano manifolds, which is an algebro-geometric criterion for the existence of a Kähler–Einstein metric, by the recent result of Chen–Donaldson–Sun. In Sec. 3, we discuss algebraic structure on Gromov–Hausdorff limits, which is a key ingredient in the proof of the Kähler–Einstein result. In Sec. 4, we give a brief survey of the more recent work on tangent cones of singular Kähler–Einstein metrics arising from Gromov–Hausdorff limits, and the connections with algebraic geometry.

Abstract:We prove that constant scalar curvature K\"ahler metric "adjacent" to a fixed K\"ahler class is unique up to isomorphism. This extends the uniqueness theorem of Donaldson and Chen-Tian, and formally fits into the infinite dimensional G.I.T picture described by Donaldson. We prove that the Calabi flow near a cscK metric exists globally and converges uniformly to a cscK metric in a polynomial rate. Viewed in a K\"ahler class, the Calabi flow is also shown to be asymptotic to a smooth geodesic ray at infinity. This latter fact is also interesting in the finite dimensional analogue, where we show that the downward gradient flow of the Kempf-Ness function in a semi-stable orbit is asymptotic to the direction of optimal degeneration.

Abstract:The authors show that the 2-non-negative traceless bisectional curvature is preserved along the Kähler-Ricci flow. The positivity of Ricci curvature is also preserved along the Kähler-Ricci flow with 2-non-negative traceless bisectional curvature. As a corollary, the Kähler-Ricci flow with 2-non-negative traceless bisectional curvature will converge to a Kähler-Ricci soliton in the sense of Cheeger-Gromov-Hausdorff topology if complex dimension n ≥ 3.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the uniformly strong convergence of the Kähler-Ricci flow on a Fano manifold with varied initial metrics and smoothly deformed complex structures. As an application, we prove the uniqueness of Kähler-Ricci solitons in the sense of diffeomorphism orbits. The result generalizes Tian-Zhu's theorem for the uniqueness of of Kähler-Ricci solitons on a compact complex manifold, and it is also a generalization of Chen-Sun's result of the uniqueness of Kähler-Einstein metric orbits.

Abstract:We study the evolution of pluri-anticanonical line bundles K-M(-v) along the Kahler Ricci flow on a Fano manifold M. Under some special conditions, we show that the convergence of this flow is determined by the properties of the pluri-anticanonical divisors of M. For example, the Kahler Ricci flow on M converges when M is a Fano surface satisfying c(1)(2)(M) = 1 or c(1)(2)(M) = 3. Combined with the work of [CW1] and [CW2], this gives a Ricci flow proof of the Calabi conjecture on Fano surfaces with reductive automorphism groups. The original proof of this conjecture is due to Gang Tian [Tian90].
