Abstract:In this paper, we present some explicit formulas for the 3-rank of the tame kernels of certain pure cubic number fields, and give the density results concerning the 3-rank of the tame kernels. Numerical examples are given in Tables 1 and 2.

Abstract:Let F be a cubic cyclic field with t (⩾ 2) ramified primes. For a finite abelian group G , let r 3 ( G ) be the 3-rank of G . If 3 does not ramify in F , then it is proved that t −1 ⩽ r 3 ( K 2 O F ) ⩽ 2 t . Furthermore, if t is fixed, for any s satisfying t −1 ⩽ s ⩽ 2 t −1, there is always a cubic cyclic field F with exactly t ramified primes such that r 3 ( K 2 O F ) = s . It is also proved that the densities for 3-ranks of tame kernels of cyclic cubic number fields satisfy a Cohen-Lenstra type formula d_∞ ,r = 3^ - r^2 ∏_k = 1^∞( 1 - 3^ - k)/ . -∏_k = 1^r ( 1 - 3^ - k)^2 . This suggests that the Cohen-Lenstra conjecture for ideal class groups can be extended to the tame kernels of cyclic cubic number fields.

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss a method to compute the tame kernel of a number field. Abstract:The paper is to investigate the structure of the tame kernel K2OF for certain quadratic number fields F, which extends the scope of Conner and Hurrelbrink (J. Number Theory88 (2001), 263–282). We determine the 4-rank and the 8-rank of the tame kernel, the Tate kernel, and the 2-part of the class group. Our characterizations are in terms of binary quadratic forms X2+32Y,X2+64Y2,X2+2Py2,2X2+Py2,X2−2Py2,2X2−Py2. The results are very useful for numerical computations.

Abstract:Let $F = Q\left( {\sqrt p } \right)$, where p = 8t+1 is a prime. In this paper, we prove that a special case of Qin’s conjecture on the possible structure of the 2-primary part of K 2 O F up to 8-rank is a consequence of a conjecture of Cohen and Lagarias on the existence of governing fields. We also characterize the 16-rank of K 2 O F , which is either 0 or 1, in terms of a certain equation between 2-adic Hilbert symbols being satisfied or not.

Abstract:Let F he an imaginary quadratic number field and K2OF the tame kernel of F. In this article, we determine all possible values of r(4)(K2OF) for each type of imaginary quadratic number field F. In particular, for each type of imaginary quadratic number field we give the maximum possible value of r(4)(K2OF) and show that each integer between the lower and upper bounds occurs as a value of the 4-rank of K2OF for infinitely many imaginary quadratic number fields F.

Abstract:Let $[X,\lambda]$ be a principally polarized abelian variety over a finite field with commutative endomorphism ring; further suppose that either $X$ is ordinary or the field is prime. Motivated by an equidistribution heuristic, we introduce a factor $\nu_v([X,\lambda])$ for each place $v$ of $\mathbb Q$, and show that the product of these factors essentially computes the size of the isogeny class of $[X,\lambda]$. The derivation of this mass formula depends on a formula of Kottwitz and on analysis of measures on the group of symplectic similitudes, and in particular does not rely on a calculation of class numbers.

Abstract:Let $m$ be a rational integer $(m \neq 0, \pm 1)$ and consider a pure number field $K = \mathbb{Q} (\sqrt[n]{m}) $ with $n \ge 3$. Most papers discussing the monogenity of pure number fields focus only on the case where $m$ is square-free. In this paper, based on a classical theorem of Ore on the prime ideal decomposition \cite{MN92, O}, we study the monogenity of $K$ with $m$ is not necessarily square-free. As an application, several examples of the application of monogenic fields to CNS (Canonical Number System) are shown. In this way, our results extend some parts of previously established results \cite{BFC, BF, HNHCNS}.

Abstract:Abstract Let K be a cyclic number field of odd degree over $${\mathbb {Q}}$$ Q with odd narrow class number, such that 2 is inert in $$K/{\mathbb {Q}}$$ K / Q . We define a family of number fields $$\{K(p)\}_p$$ { K ( p ) } p , depending on K and indexed by the rational primes p that split completely in $$K/{\mathbb {Q}}$$ K / Q , in which p is always ramified of degree 2. Conditional on a standard conjecture on short character sums, the density of such rational primes p that exhibit one of two possible ramified factorizations in $$K(p)/{\mathbb {Q}}$$ K ( p ) / Q is strictly between 0 and 1 and is given explicitly as a formula in terms of the degree of the extension $$K/{\mathbb {Q}}$$ K / Q . Our results are unconditional in the cubic case. Our proof relies on a detailed study of the joint distribution of spins of prime ideals.

Abstract:For any number field, J.-F. Jaulent introduced a new invariant called the group of logarithmic classes in 1994. This invariant is proved to be closely related to the wild kernels of number fields. In this paper, we show how to compute the kernel of the natural homomorphism from the group of logarithmic classes to the group of p-ideal classes by computing the p-adic regulator which is a classical invariant in number theory. As an application, we prove Gangl's conjecture on 9-rank of the tame kernel of imaginary quadratic field Q(−9k−3).

Abstract:The classical Brun--Titchmarsh theorem gives an upper bound, which is of correct order of magnitude in the full range, for the number of primes $p\leqslant x$ satisfying $p\equiv a\bmod q$. We strength this inequality for $\log q/\log x$ in different ranges, improving upon previous works by Motohashi, Goldfeld, Iwaniec, Friedlander and Iwaniec, and Maynard for general or special moduli. In particular, we obtain a Burgess-like constant in the full range $q<x^{1/2-}.$ The proof is based on various estimates for character and exponential sums, by appealing to arithmetic exponent pairs and bilinear forms with algebraic trace functions from $\ell$-adic cohomology, and sums of Kloosterman sums from spectral theory of automorphic forms, as well as large value theorem for Dirichlet polynomials due to Huxley.

Abstract:Many interesting questions in arithmetic dynamics revolve, in one way or another, around the (local and/or global) reducibility behavior of iterates of a polynomial. We show that for very general families of integer polynomials $f$ (and, more generally, rational functions over number fields), the set of stable primes, i.e., primes modulo which all iterates of $f$ are irreducible, is a density zero set. Compared to previous results, our families cover a much wider ground, and in particular apply to $100\%$ of polynomials of any given odd degree, thus adding evidence to the conjecture that polynomials with a "large" set of stable primes are necessarily of a very specific shape, and in particular are necessarily postcritically finite.

Abstract:We study an asymptotic formula for counting integral points over an equation defined by a non-degenerated indefinite integral ternary quadratic form $f$ representing a non-zero integer $a$ such that $-a\cdot det(f)$ is square over a number field. In particular, we prove that the finite part of this asymptotic formula is given by the product of local density times $1-p^{-1}$ over all finite primes $p$ over $\Bbb Z$.

Abstract:As we examine the behaviour of the number field sieve (NFS) in the medium prime case, we notice various patterns that can be exploited to improve the running time of the sieving stage. The contributions of these observations to the computational mathematics community are twofold. Firstly, we clarify the understanding of the true practical effectiveness of the algorithm. Secondly, we propose a test for a better choice of the polynomials used in the NFS. These results are of particular interest to cryptographers as the run-time of the NFS directly determines the security level of some discrete logarithm problem based protocols.

Abstract:We compute the density of primes represented by a special quadratic form in a fixed square residue class.
