Abstract:In this paper, we present some explicit formulas for the 3-rank of the tame kernels of certain pure cubic number fields, and give the density results concerning the 3-rank of the tame kernels. Numerical examples are given in Tables 1 and 2.

Abstract:Let F be a cubic cyclic field with t (⩾ 2) ramified primes. For a finite abelian group G , let r 3 ( G ) be the 3-rank of G . If 3 does not ramify in F , then it is proved that t −1 ⩽ r 3 ( K 2 O F ) ⩽ 2 t . Furthermore, if t is fixed, for any s satisfying t −1 ⩽ s ⩽ 2 t −1, there is always a cubic cyclic field F with exactly t ramified primes such that r 3 ( K 2 O F ) = s . It is also proved that the densities for 3-ranks of tame kernels of cyclic cubic number fields satisfy a Cohen-Lenstra type formula d_∞ ,r = 3^ - r^2 ∏_k = 1^∞( 1 - 3^ - k)/ . -∏_k = 1^r ( 1 - 3^ - k)^2 . This suggests that the Cohen-Lenstra conjecture for ideal class groups can be extended to the tame kernels of cyclic cubic number fields.

Abstract: In this paper, we establish the explicit lower bound estimates for the rank of universal quadratic forms in some certain families of real cubic fields under the condition of density one. The more general results that represent all multiples of a given rational integer are obtained for totally positive definite quadratic lattices. Our main tools are some properties of indecomposable integers with trace in these fields and short vectors in quadratic lattices.

Abstract:Let F be a cubic cyclic field with exactly one ramified prime p,p>7, or F=Q(d), a real quadratic field with d≢6(mod9). In this paper, we study the 3-primary part of K2OF. If 3 does not divide the class number of F, we get some results about the 9-rank of K2OF. In particular, in the case of a cubic cyclic field F with only one ramified prime p>7, we prove that four conclusions concerning the 3-primary part of K2OF, obtained by J. Browkin by numerical computations for primes p, 7≤p≤5000, are true in general.

Abstract:Let $F = Q\left( {\sqrt p } \right)$, where p = 8t+1 is a prime. In this paper, we prove that a special case of Qin’s conjecture on the possible structure of the 2-primary part of K 2 O F up to 8-rank is a consequence of a conjecture of Cohen and Lagarias on the existence of governing fields. We also characterize the 16-rank of K 2 O F , which is either 0 or 1, in terms of a certain equation between 2-adic Hilbert symbols being satisfied or not.

Abstract:We describe and give computational results of a procedure to compute the divisor class number and regulator of most purely cubic function fields of unit rank 2. Our implementation is an improvement to Pollard's Kangaroo method in infrastructures, using distribution results of class numbers as well as information on the congruence class of the divisor class number, and an adaptation that efficiently navigates these torus-shaped infrastructures. Moreover, this is the first time that an efficient "square-root" algorithm has been applied to the infrastructure of a global field of unit rank 2. With the exception of certain function fields defined by Picard curves, our examples are the largest known divisor class numbers and regulators ever computed for a function field of genus 3.

Abstract:Let F he an imaginary quadratic number field and K2OF the tame kernel of F. In this article, we determine all possible values of r(4)(K2OF) for each type of imaginary quadratic number field F. In particular, for each type of imaginary quadratic number field we give the maximum possible value of r(4)(K2OF) and show that each integer between the lower and upper bounds occurs as a value of the 4-rank of K2OF for infinitely many imaginary quadratic number fields F.

Abstract:This paper contains an account of arbitrary cubic function fields of characteristic three. We define a standard form for an arbitrary cubic curve and consider its function field. By considering an integral basis for the maximal order of these function fields, we are able to calculate the field discriminant and the genus. We also describe the splitting behavior of any place, and give composition and reduction algorithms for arithmetic in the ideal class group.

Abstract:We prove that the quotients of the group algebra of the braid group introduced by L. Funar in Comm. Math. Phys., 1995, collapses in characteristic distinct from 2. In characteristic 2 we define several quotients of it, which are connected to the classical Hecke and Birman-Wenzl-Murakami quotients, but which admit in addition a symmetry of order 3. We also establish conditions on the possible Markov traces factorizing through it.

Abstract:Let F be a quadratic number field. We give a criterion, via Hilbert symbols, for an element of order two in the tame kernel of F to be a fourth power in the tame kernel of F. The result can be applied to compute the 8-rank of the tame kernel of F and the Tate kernel of an imaginary quadratic number field. We list the 8-ranks of K2OF for all quadratic number fields whose discriminants have exactly two odd prime divisors. In the case when F is an imaginary quadratic number field with the 8-rank of K2OF=0, the Tate kernel of F is given too. An application of our method to the maximal real subfield of a cyclotomic field is discussed. Numerical examples, in particular the examples of quadratic number fields F with 4-rank of K2OF= 8-rank of K2OF=2 illustrate our results.

Abstract:We develop a theory of Prym varieties and cubic threefolds over fields of characteristic $2$. As an application, we prove that smooth cubic threefolds are non-rational over an arbitrary field and solve a conjecture of Deligne regarding arithmetic Torelli maps. We also prove the Torelli theorem for cubic threefolds over arbitrary fields.

Abstract:Let $a$ be an integer which is not of the form $n^2$ or $-3 n^2$ for $n\in \mathbb{Z}$. Let $E_a$ be the elliptic curve with rational $3$-isogeny defined by $E_a:y^2=x^3+a$, and $K:=\mathbb{Q}(\mu_3)$. Assume that the $3$-Selmer group of $E_a$ over $K$ vanishes. It is shown that there is an explicit infinite set of cubefree integers $m$ such that the $3$-Selmer groups over $K$ of $E_{m^2 a}$ and $E_{m^4 a}$ both vanish. In particular, the ranks of these cubic twists are seen to be $0$ over $K$. Our results are proven by studying stability properties of $3$-Selmer groups in cyclic cubic extensions of $K$, via local and global Galois cohomological techniques.

Abstract:Let $K$ be a number field, and let $E/K$ be an elliptic curve over $K$. The Mordell--Weil theorem asserts that the $K$-rational points $E(K)$ of $E$ form a finitely generated abelian group. In this work, we complete the classification of the finite groups which appear as the torsion subgroup of $E(K)$ for $K$ a cubic number field. To do so, we determine the cubic points on the modular curves $X_1(N)$ for \[N = 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 28, 30, 32, 33, 35, 36, 39, 45, 65, 121.\] As part of our analysis, we determine the complete list of $N$ for which $J_0(N)$ (resp., $J_1(N)$, resp., $J_1(2,2N)$) has rank 0. We also provide evidence to a generalized version of a conjecture of Conrad, Edixhoven, and Stein by proving that the torsion on $J_1(N)(\mathbb{Q})$ is generated by $\text{Gal}(\bar{\mathbb{Q}}/\mathbb{Q})$-orbits of cusps of $X_1(N)_{\bar{\mathbb{Q}}}$ for $N\leq 55$, $N \neq 54$.

Abstract:We use the circle method to prove that a density 1 of elements in $\mathbb{F}_q[t]$ are representable as a sum of three cubes of essentially minimal degree from $\mathbb{F}_q[t]$, assuming the Ratios Conjecture and that the characteristic is bigger than 3. Roughly speaking, to do so, we upgrade an order of magnitude result to a full asymptotic formula that was conjectured by Hooley in the number field setting.
