Abstract:The spectra and E2 transition properties of Nd146-156 isotopes are studied in the interacting boson model in the light of new experimental data. It is found that Nd146-150 are in the transition from the vibrational limit to the rotational limit. From Nd-152 onward, the isotopes are nearly perfect rotors. Possible deformation saturation is discussed in the interacting boson model.

Abstract:Sr isotopes are located in the mass region $A\approx 100$, where a very quick onset of nuclear deformation exists, being other notable examples of this area Yb, Zr, and Nb nuclei. The presence of the proton subshell closure $Z=40$ allows the existence of particle-hole excitations that produces low-lying intruder bands. Purpose: The goal of this work is the study of the nuclear structure of the even-even $^{92-102}$Sr isotopes through the accurate description of excitation energies, $B(E2)$ transition rates, nuclear radii and two-neutron separation energies. Method: The interacting boson model with configuration mixing will be the framework to calculate all the observables of the Sr isotopes. Only two types of configurations will be considered, namely, 0particle-0hole and 2particle-2hole excitations. The parameters of the model are determined using a least-squares procedure for the excitation energies and the $B(E2)$ transition rates. Results: For the whole chain of isotopes, the value of excitation energies, $B(E2)$'s, two-neutron separation energies, nuclear radii, and isotope shifts have been obtained, with a good agreement between theory and experiment. Also, a detailed analysis of the wave functions have been performed and, finally, the mean-field energy surfaces and the value of the nuclear deformation, $\beta$, have been obtained. Conclusions: The presence of low-lying intruder states in even-even Sr isotopes have been confirmed and its connection with the onset of deformation has been clarified. Lightest Sr isotopes present a spherical structure while the heaviest ones are clearly deformed. The rapid onset of deformation at neutron number $60$ is due to the crossing of the regular and intruder configurations and, moreover, both families of states present an increase of deformation with the neutron number.

Abstract:Even--even nuclei in the $A\sim100$ mass region are investigated within the framework of the interacting boson model-1 ({IBM-1}). The study includes energy spectra and electric quadrupole transition properties of zirconium, molybdenum, ruthenium and palladium isotopes with neutron number $N\geq52$. A global parametrization of the {IBM-1} Hamiltonian is found leading to a description of about 300 collective levels in 30 nuclei with a root-mean-square deviation from the observed level energies of 120 keV. The importance of the $d_{5/2}$ subshell closure at neutron number N=56 is pointed out. The geometric character of the nuclei can be visualized by plotting the potential energy surface $V(\beta,\gamma)$ obtained from the {IBM-1} Hamiltonian in the classical limit. The parametrization established on the basis of known elements is used to predict properties of the unknown, neutron-rich isotopes $^{106}$Zr, $^{112}$Mo, $^{116}$Ru and $^{122}$Pd.

Abstract:The structure of the very neutron-rich Cd isotopes Cd-116,Cd-118,Cd-120 is studied in the interacting boson model. It has been found that both a U(5) (anharmonic vibration) and a non-U(5) Hamiltonian can describe both the low-lying and the high-spin states of these nuclei well. Present experimental data on E2 transitions favour the non-U(5) Hamiltonian slightly.

Abstract:A description of the even-even Pt isotopes for A = 188 to 198 in the framework of the neutron-proton interacting boson model is carried out. By introducing a triaxial interaction into the Hamiltonian, the gamma band is improved. The calculated spectra agree well with experimental data. E2 transitions agree with experimental data. The magnetic dipole transition is calculated and compared with the available data.

Abstract:Structure of neutron-rich N = 83 isotones was studied with Cf-252 source and Gammasphere. High spin level schemes of Ba-139 (Z = 56) and Te-135 (Z = 52) were proposed, and those of Xe-137 (Z = 54) and I-136(Z = 53) were extended. Spins, parities and configurations are tentatively assigned to the levels. Rich spectroscopic information characteristic of spherical shell model excitations and enhanced E3 cascade were observed in Te-135, Xe-137 and I-136, and resemblance between Sn-132 and Pb-208 region was observed in the isotones. But 139Ba exhibits different structure which is interpreted by the difference between particle-particle and particle-hole excitations. Based on a detailed measurement of a regular band consisting of intense M1 and very weak crossover E2 high-lying in Te-135, the band is interpreted as a magnetic rotation band.

Abstract:An extended version of the interacting boson model (IBM), encompassing two-particle–two-hole (2p-2h) excitations originating from below a valence shell and one-particle–one-hole (1p-1h) excitations extending to the upper next-nearest major shell, is developed to investigate cross-shell excitation effects in the transitional nucleus Mo98 . This extended IBM framework is utilized to reproduce experimentally observed properties such as low-lying positive-parity level energies, B(E2) values, and the electric quadrupole moment of the 21+ state, ρ2(E0,02+→0g+) , as well as the strength functions of the isoscalar giant monopole resonance (ISGMR) and the isoscalar giant quadrupole resonance (ISGQR) in Mo98 . It is shown that the extended consistent- Q IBM, incorporating configuration mixing of both 2p-2h excitations from below the valence shell and 1p-1h excitations to the upper next-nearest major shell, describes the low-lying structural properties and the ISGMR and ISGQR strength distributions of Mo98 quite well, with the ISGMR and the ISGQR strength distributions comparable to the results of the self-consistent quasiparticle random-phase approximation with Skyrme interactions. https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevC.109.054306 ©2024 American Physical Society

Abstract:A description on the even-even Barium isotopes for A=128 to 136 and 140 in the framework of neutron-proton interacting boson model is carried out. By introducing the quadrupole interactions among like bosons into the Hamiltonian, the staggering phenomenon in the quasi-gamma bands is reproduced pretty well. The physical mechanism behind the improvement is discussed.
