Abstract:Massive presacral bleeding is a severe complication during a resection of the rectum. The combination of oxidized cellulose and cyanoacrylate glue can quickly control presacral bleeding. This report presents nine cases since 2002 of presacral hemorrhage treated using this method. There was no recurrent bleeding during the postoperative period. All patients were followed for 6–12 months, and there were no other complications reported.
Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose Reduces the Amount of Fluid Drainage after Liver Resection: A Randomized Prospective Clinical Trial

Abstract:Background/aims: Oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC) has been registered as adjuncts to stimulate hemostasis in liver surgery. However, most previous studies were primarily designed to study the intra-operative hemostatic efficacy, and the effect on prophylactic application was never studied as a primary endpoint. This randomized prospective clinical trial was undertaken to evaluate whether ORC is safe and effective when used as a prophylactic agent covering the raw cut surface during the hepatectomy to reduce the volume and duration of drainage. Methodology: Between June 2011 and August 2012, a total of 40 patients undergoing major hepatectomy were randomly assigned to ORC or control groups (20 in each group). Patient characteristics, resection-related factors, debit of drainage and postoperative complications were compared between the two groups. Results: The two groups were comparable in terms of demographics, indications for surgery, extent of hepatectomy, and intraoperative blood loss. The amount of drainage after operation was significantly less in the ORC group compared with the control group (406.9 ± 308.1 vs. 627.0 ± 301.6 ml, P = 0.028). Conclusions: Application of ORC covering the raw cut surface during the hepatectomy can significantly decrease the amount of drainage.

Abstract:Objectives: Pulmonary air leakage is a common complication following lung resection. We have designed a new method combining oxidized regenerated cellulose and fibrin glue to cover the intersegmental plane in clinical lung segmentectomy to prevent postoperative air leakage. In this study, an excised porcine lung segmentectomy model was created to validate its adhesive strength and effect on reducing air leakage. Methods: In the pre-experiment, six different larger lung segments were separated using electrocautery on the fresh isolated porcine lungs (n = 5 in each group). The air leakage degree and operation time of the lung segments were comprehensively evaluated to select the most suitable target segment for establishing the ex vivo porcine lung segmentectomy models. In the experiment, according to the different materials covered on the intersegmental plane, these models were randomly divided into four groups: group A used fibrin glue and oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC) mesh (n = 20); group B used fibrin glue and polyglycolic acid (PGA) sheet (n = 20); group C used fibrin glue (n = 20); group D was the blank control group (n = 20). The minimum air leakage pressure (MALP) of the selected target segment in each group was measured using a stepwise increase of airway pressure, and histological assessment was performed on the sealed area samples from the four groups. Results: The operation time of the a segment of the right cranial lobe (R1a) was shorter than that of other segments (p < 0.05), and there was no significant difference in the air leakage pressures between the six isolated segments (p = 0.76); thus, R1a was chosen for segmentectomy. In addition, the MALP was significantly higher in group A (41.8 ± 4.5 cmH2O) than in groups C (28.1 ± 2.3 cmH2O) and D (17.3 ± 1.2 cmH2O) (both p < 0.001). The MALP of group B (69.5 ± 5.2 cmH2O) was significantly higher than that of group A (p < 0.001), whereas that of group C was significantly higher than that of group D (p < 0.001). Histological examination confirmed that the combined use of fibrin glue and ORC or PGA patch adhered more firmly to the intersegmental plane than that of fibrin glue alone, although some gaps could be seen between the fibrin glue and the surface of the lung segments in group C. Conclusion: The application of ORC combined with fibrin glue on the intersegmental plane has a good sealing performance in the ex vivo porcine lung segmentectomy model, suggesting that ORC may be an effective alternative material to replace PGA sheet to combine with fibrin glue for preventing air leakage after segmentectomy.

Abstract:To evaluate the effect of continous subcutanceous sewing(CSS)and REDON absorbing bottle(RAB)drainage in the treatment of breast cancer.The clinical data of123patients treated with drainage by trational negative pressure absorbing ball(TNPAB)from January to December in1999,and the clinical data of128patients treated by DEXON CSS and RAB from January to December in2002were analyzed retrospectively.There were16cases(12.5%)with complication of subcutanceous liquid collection,1case with skin flay necrosis among128cases treated by DEXON CSS and RAB;47cases(38%)with complication of subcutanceous liquid collection,16cases(13%)with skin flap necrosis among123cases treated by TNPAB.The statistically significant difference was found between the two groups.(P0.01).[Conclusions]It is demonstrated that the use of DEXON CSS and RAB get more completely drainage than TNPAB does,and in the meantime the complication rate will decrease.

Abstract:Background: Oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC) is a type of biodegradable hemostatic material, which has been widely used in the field of surgery. However, its hemostatic effect in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is uncertain. Accordingly, this study investigated the effectiveness and safety of ORC in patients receiving TKA. Methods: Seventy patients undergoing unilateral TKA were randomized into blank control group and ORC (2 pieces of ORC placed in the joint cavity) groups. Then, the two groups were compared for primary (perioperative blood loss [total blood loss, intraoperative blood loss, and hidden blood loss] and hemoglobin drop values) and secondary (coagulation indicators, inflammatory indicators,operation time, and complication rates) outcomes. Results: The total blood loss in the ORC group was 902.32 ± 307.82 mL, which was statistically significantly lower than that in the control group (1052.25 ± 308.44 mL) (P < 0.05). Postoperative hidden blood loss was also statistically markedly lower in the ORC group (801.61 ± 298.80 mL) than in the control group (949.96 ± 297.59 mL) (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of coagulation indicators, inflammatory indicators, operation time, and complication rates. Conclusion: In conclusion, our prospective RCT study proved that regenerated oxidized cellulose can be used safely in vivo and can effectively reduce postoperative blood loss in patients, which is a potential method for preventing blood loss after TKA. Trial registration: This prospective RCT was reviewed and approved by the Ethics Committee of Honghui Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University (No: 202,211,007) and was designed and conducted according to the rules of the Declaration of Helsinki. Written informed consent was obtained from patients or their legal guardians.

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the effect of REDON drainage on preventing the complication of post modified radical operation on breast cancer.Methods:123 cases from Jun 1999 to Dec 1999 were chosen as control group with negative pressure drainage after inter sewing up skin with silkline, while 159 cases from Jun 2002 to Mar 2003 were chosen as experiment group with REDON negative pressure drainage after modified radical operation on breast cancer. Then the effect of preventing the complication was reviewed and investigated.Results: There were 20 cases (20/159, 12.58%) of liquid stored under skin and 3 cases(3/159, 1.89%) of skin necrosis in experiment group, while 47 cases (47/123, 38%) of liquid stored under skin and 16 cases skin necrosis in control group(both P 0.01). Conclusion:REDON negative pressure drainage after modified radical operation on breast cancer can effectively promote wound to drain post operation, so can reduce the complication of post modified radical operation on breast cancer.
Effectiveness and Safety of Systematic and Selective Lymphadenectomies in Chinese Patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Who Received Sublobar Resection.

Abstract:e20534 Background: Even though anatomical lobectomy with dissection of systematic mediastinal lymph nodes has been the standard treatment for the patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the optimal modes of lymphadenectomies in the patients with sublobar resection are still controversial. The purposes of the study are to evaluate effectiveness and safety of lymphadenectomies and explore the clinical characteristics and survivals in the patients with sublobar resection. Methods: The NSCLC patients ( > = 18 years) with sublobar resection and systematic/selective lymphadenectomies from 2014 to 2017 were evaluated based on the LinkDoc database. Systematic lymphadenectomies was defined as ≥ 5 lymph node stations resected and selective lymphadenectomies as < 5. The overall survivals (OS) were measured by the Kaplan-Meier method and the Log-Rank test. Propensity score matching (PSM) method was implemented to reduce selection bias. Results: A total of 3902 NSCLC subjects were recruited including 35.7% (64.3%) of patients with systematic (selective) lymphadenectomy. Of all, 28.8% of patients were performed with segment resection, 67.6% with wedge resection, and 3.6% with mixed resections. In the total population, no difference in OS rates was observed between the groups with systematic and selective lymphadenectomies regardless of PSM. Further subgroup analysis showed that the OS of the patients with systematic lymphadenectomy was superior to that with selective lymphadenectomy in the group of patients with adenocarcinoma (HR of systematics vs selective lymphadenectomies = 0.49, p < 0.05) and in the group of tumor size ≥1& < 3cm (HR of systematic vs selective lymphadenectomies = 0.33, p < 0.05). No significant difference was observed in the subpopulations categorized by age and N staging. Conclusions: As the additional evidence-based data, this real-world study presented clinical evidences on the indications of systematic/selective lymphadenectomies and clinical characteristics of the Chinese NSCLC patients with sublobar resection and lymphadenectomies. Perioperative Comparison of Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery and Open Lobectomy for Pt1-Stage Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Patients in China: a Multi-Center Propensity Score-Matched Analysis.

Abstract:BACKGROUND:Compared with open surgery, video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) has innovated the concept of the minimally invasive approach for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients in past decades. This present study aimed to compare the perioperative and lymph node dissection outcomes between VATS lobectomy and open lobectomy for pathological stage T1 (pT1) NSCLC patients from both surgical and oncologic perspectives.METHODS:This was a retrospective multicenter study. Patients who underwent surgical resection for pT1 NSCLC between January 2014 and September 2017 were retrospectively reviewed from 10 thoracic surgery centers in China. Perioperative and lymph node dissection outcomes of pT1 NSCLC patients who accepted VATS or open lobectomies were compared by propensity score matching (PSM) analysis.RESULTS:Of the 11,360 patients who underwent surgery for pT1 NSCLC, 7,726 were enrolled based on the selection criteria, including 1,222 cases of open lobectomies and 6,504 cases of VATS lobectomies. PSM resulted in 1,184 cases of open lobectomies and 1,184 cases of VATS lobectomies being well matched by common prognostic variables, including age, sex, and surgical side. VATS lobectomy led to better perioperative outcomes, including less blood loss (133.5±200.1 vs. 233.3±318.4, P<0.001), lower blood transfusion rate (2.4% vs. 6.4%, P<0.001), shorter postoperative hospital stay (8.6±5.7 vs. 10.1±5.1, P<0.001), less chest drainage volume (1,109.5±854.0 vs. 1,324.1±948.8, P<0.001), and less postoperative complications (4.9% vs. 8.2%, P<0.001). However, open lobectomy had better lymph node dissection outcomes than VATS, with increased lymph node dissection numbers (16.1±9.4 vs. 13.7±7.7, P<0.001) and more positive lymph nodes being dissected (1.5±3.9 vs. 1.1±2.5, P=0.002). Compared with VATS, open lobectomy harvested more lymph node stations (5.5±1.9 vs. 5.2±1.8, P=0.001), including more pathological N2 (pN2) lymph node stations (3.4±1.4 vs. 3.1±1.3, P<0.001).CONCLUSIONS:VATS lobectomy was associated with better perioperative outcomes, such as less blood loss, lower blood transfusion rate, shorter postoperative hospital stay, less chest drainage volume and less postoperative complications. Open lobectomy has improved lymph node dissection outcomes, as more lymph nodes and positive lymph nodes were dissected for pT1 NSCLC patients during surgery.
Clinical Evaluation of Laparoscopic Radical Resection of Colon Cancer

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate the clinical effect of laparoscopic radical resection of colon cancer.METHODS:Patients with colon cancer who underwent radical resection during January 2000 to January 2004 in Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital (Medical College of Zhejiang University) were divided into open and laparoscopic groups for a non-randomized case-control study. All the patients were followed up and their clinical and pathological results were compared.RESULTS:No difference was seen between the two groups on the patients' age, gender, lymph node numbers and Dukes staging. The laparoscopic group had a longer mean operation time [(182 +/- 62) min vs (141 +/- 37) min] and shorter hospital stay [(5.3 +/- 1.9) d vs (8.2 +/- 1.2) d] than the open group. All surgical margins were pathological negative. Post-operation follow up was 12-18 months (mean 21 months). No incision recurrence was found in neither group. As far the local recurrence and distal metastasis rate were similar in both groups.CONCLUSIONS:Laparoscopic radical resection of colon cancer has minimal invasion and shorter recuperation than open procedure, the radicalness and either local recurrence or distal metastasis rate after surgery are similar when compared with open group.
Hemostatic Efficacy of Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose Powder in Le Fort 1 Osteotomy

Abstract:A challenging aspect of Le Fort I osteotomy is bleeding control. Osteotomy techniques, devices, drugs, and anesthetic management have been reported to reduce bleeding; however, there are no reports on the use of hemostatic agents. We aimed to evaluate the hemostatic efficacy of a new topical absorbent hemostatic agent, Surgicel Powder, consisting of oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC). We reviewed the records of 40 patients who underwent Le Fort I surgery for jaw deformities, with or without cleft lip and palate. Twenty of the 40 patients did not have cleft lips or cleft palates (CLCP); the remaining 20 had CLCP. In each group, an absorbent hemostatic agent was used in 10 patients but not in the other 10. Total blood loss and operative time for each group were evaluated. In the jaw deformity without CLCP group, the amount of bleeding with or without ORC was 112.0±33.8 and 158.6±75.3 mL, respectively, with a significant difference between groups ( P <0.05). Operative time with or without ORC was 206.4±31.3 and 238.3±42.5 minutes, respectively, with a significant difference observed between groups ( P <0.05). In the jaw deformity with CLCP group, the amount of bleeding with or without ORC was 199.7±64.6 and 476.8±104.8 mL, respectively, with a significant difference between groups ( P <0.05). Operative time with or without ORC was 213.7±27.6 and 220.8±41.5 minutes, respectively, with no significant difference between groups ( P =0.329). In conclusion, oxidized regenerated cellulose powder may be a beneficial hemostatic agent for reducing blood loss during Le Fort I osteotomy.
Modeling of single line hole thoracoscope lung cancer radical operation of clinical experience and lessons learned

Abstract:Objective To summarize the clinical experience of the operation mode of single hole thoracoscopic lung resection,lobectomy and lymph node dissection of experience in operation,summarize and analyze the clinical effect.Methods 495 cases of patients with lung cancer,including 320 cases of adenocarcinoma,147 cases of squamous cell carcinoma,24 cases of adenosquamous carcinoma,other 4 cases,adopt Uniportal VATS anatomic lobectomy concurrent lymph node dissection,record the operation time,bleeding volume,lymph nodes and lymph node dissection group number,length of the incision the occurrence of complications,extubation time,hospitalization time and postoperative.Observe the clinical results.Results 495 cases of lung cancer patients were successfully completed surgery,including 10 cases with lymph node interference or vascular variation caused by hemorrhage in open chest surgery.495 cases of patients with operation time was (141.8 ± 30.4) min,the amount of bleeding (80.2 ± 20.8) ml,lymph nodes (12.6 ± 2.8),lymph node (5.2 ± 1.6) group,were found in patients with lymph node metastasis in 84 cases (17.0％),of which the lymph node positive lymph node number (2.4 ± 1.4),incision length (3.2 ± 1.2) cm,extubation time (3.8 ± 0.6) d,hospitalization time (5.2 ± 2.2) d.Postoperative patients with good prognosis,no pulmonary embolism,pulmonary infection,hemorrhage,atelectasis and other serious complications,the other on the 30 day after operation,no patient died.Conclusions It is a safe and effective method to eliminate the lung cancer by single operation,and the visual effect is more beautiful than other methods,and it can reduce the pain of patients after operation.In addition,lobectomy and lymph node dissection is generally considered in clinical complex operation,but also has its corresponding processing method.
Doxorubicin-Loaded in Situ Gel Combined with Biocompatible Hydroxyethyl Cellulose Hemostatic Gauze for Controlled Release of Drugs and Prevention of Breast Cancer Recurrence Postsurgery.

Abstract:Biodegradable hemostatic gauze used for surgical hemostasis has attracted great interest due to its excellent compliance and local anti-inflammatory and therapeutic effects when combined with drugs. Herein, we demonstrate the successful fabrication of water-soluble absorbed cellulose hemostatic material by introducing a biocompatible hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) hemostasis gauze into doxorubicin-loaded in situ gel (GEL(DOX)) for the prevention of breast cancer recurrence after surgical tumor resection. The present results show that HEC has a shorter metabolic period, no anaphylaxis and peripheral nerve toxicity, and possesses more advantages than oxidative regenerated cellulose hemostasis gauze, a commercially available product in market. HEC is of the physical hemostasis in mechanism, which does not induce physiological hemostasis and hemolysis. In addition, the combination of HEC with GEL(DOX) not only stops the bleeding efficiently, but also effectively reduces the proliferation of tumor with no cardiac toxic and bone marrow suppression. After treatment, the tumor inhibition rate is up to 90%, resulting in prolonged survival time to 58 days. In conclusion, HEC hemostatic gauze has a broad prospect in clinical application due to its perfect biocompatibility, and we envision that it is a new strategy for the prevention of breast cancer to implant HEC hemostatic gauze containing GEL(DOX) at the postoperative site after surgery.
Contrastive analysis of oxidated regenerated cellulose and absorbable gelatin sponge on the hemostasis during ACDF procedure

Abstract:Objective To compare the hemostatic effect between oxidated regenerated cellulose ( ORC) and absorba-ble gelatin sponge ( AGS) during anterior cervical discectomy and fusion procedure ( ACDF) .Methods 356 patients un-derwent the ACDF procedure were divided into ORC group (191 patients) and AGS group (165 patients).The operative duration, the volume of blood loss and the volume of drainage between two groups were compared.Results The average operative duration in ORC and AGS groups was (81.5 ±9.9) min and (88.6 ±10.8) min (P=0.062).The average op-erative blood loss in ORC and AGS groups was (55.3 ±11.2) mL and (69.4 ±13.2) mL (P=0.034).The average post-operative drainage in ORC and AGS groups was (35.5 ±13.5) mL and (51.2 ±16.8) mL (P=0.029).One pa-tient in AGS group underwent exploration due to acute neck hematoma post-operatively.Conclusion Compared with AGS, ORC can obviously decrease the operative blood loss and drainage, increase the safety of operation.
Effectiveness of an oxidized cellulose patch hemostatic agent in thyroid surgery: a prospective, randomized, controlled study

Abstract:Background: This single-blinded, prospective, randomized controlled trial compared the efficacy and safety of an oxidized cellulose patch (Surgicel [Johnson and Johnson]) with conventional procedures for achieving hemostasis in thyroid surgery. Study design: The study included 190 patients scheduled for thyroidectomy. Patients were randomized into 1 conventionally treated (ligatures and bipolar electrocautery) group (n = 92) and a second group, which additionally received Surgicel (n = 98). Results: The groups were demographically and clinically matched and had similar wound drainage volumes and mean duration of surgery. Postoperative bleeding rate was greater in the Surgicel group, yet the difference didn't reach statistical significance (p = 0.054). There were no significant group differences in postoperative wound infection, seroma, hypocalcemia, or recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy. Time to drain removal and length of hospital stay were significantly shorter in the conventional group (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Routine use of an oxidized cellulose hemostatic agent has no advantage over conventional hemostasis and is potentially harmful in thyroid surgery.
Clinical observation of the regeneration process of defects after breast cancer resection

Abstract:Abstract Background The present study aims to use two different kinds of filling materials, oxidized regenerated cellulose and gelatin sponge, to repair defects of breast-conserving surgery due to breast cancer, and compare the clinical efficacy, cosmetic effect and complication rate among groups. Methods A total of 125 patients, who had breast -conserving surgery due to breast cancer, were enrolled into the present study. Postoperative efficacy was assessed by a doctor and patient, according to the Harvard/NSABP/RTOG Breast Cosmetic Grading Scale. Results Among these patients, 41 patients received conventional breast-conserving surgery, and 84 patients received breast-conserving surgery plus filling implantation (41 patients in the oxidized regenerated cellulose group and 43 patients in the gelatin sponge group). All patients had small to medium sized breasts (cup size A and B). The average weight of tumor tissues was 56.61 ± 11.57 g in the conventional breast-conserving surgery group, 58.41 ± 8.53 g in the oxidized regenerated cellulose group, and 58.77 ± 9.90 g in the gelatin sponge group. The difference in pathological factors, average operation time, length of stay and local infection rate was not statistically significant among the three groups. 18 patients in the oxidized regenerated cellulose group and 15 patients in the gelatin sponge group were evaluated to have a good cosmetic effect by the surgeon and patient, while 12 patients in the conventional breast-conserving surgery group were evaluated to be have good cosmetic effect by the surgeon and patient. The cosmetic effects in the oxidized regenerated cellulose group and gelatin sponge group were comparable, and these were superior to those in the conventional breast-conserving surgery group. Conclusion The use of oxidized regenerated cellulose and gelatin sponge is a feasible approach for defect repair after breast-conserving surgery.
Absorbable Haemostatic Artefacts as a Diagnostic Challenge in Postoperative Follow-Up After Oncological Resection in Head and Neck Tumours: Systematic Review of Current Literature and Two Case Reports

Abstract:Objectives: This article aims to define the clinical, radiological, and pathological characteristics of non-resorbed oxidised cellulose-induced pseudotumours to raise awareness among surgeons and radiologists, to prevent misdiagnosis, and avoid unnecessary invasive procedures and delays in adjuvant oncological treatments. Methods: A systematic review of oxidised resorbable cellulose (ORC)-induced pseudotumours of the head and neck was conducted following PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Articles were retrieved from PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane, and Web of Science. Two ORC-induced pseudotumour cases from the Maxillofacial Surgery Department of Verona are also presented. Results: In most cases, pseudotumours were monitored using ultrasound. Further investigations included CT, MRI, PET-CT, and scintigraphy. Ultrasound images showed stable, elongated, and non-homogeneous masses. In CT scans, pseudotumours showed a liquefied core, and none or only peripheral enhancement. In MRI, pseudotumours presented none or only peripheral enhancement, and a heterogeneous pattern in T2-weighted images. 18-FDG PET scans demonstrated an FDG-avid mass (SUV 7.5). Scintigraphy was inconclusive. Cytology indicated a granulomatous reaction without neoplastic cells. Where surgical excision was performed, a granulomatous reaction with the presence of oxidised cellulose fibres was confirmed. Conclusions: Surgeons should consider artifacts from retained oxidised absorbable haemostatic material when suspecting tumour recurrence or metastasis on postoperative imaging, especially if certain features are present. Fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is a useful diagnostic tool, but surgical excision may be needed if FNAC is inconclusive or impractical. Collaboration between surgeons and radiologists is essential to avoid misdiagnosis and delays in treatment. Documenting the use and location of haemostatic material in operative reports would aid future understanding of these phenomena.

Evaluation of hemostatic efficacy and safety of oxidized regenerated cellulose (Pahacel®) in coronary bypass surgery

Abstract:Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC) in patients who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery and to compare the results of patients in whom ORC was used or not used for control of bleeding. Method: Pre-, intra-, and post-operative demographic and medical parameters of the patients in whom ORC was used or not used were compared. Quantitative data were analyzed with mean and standard deviation. Group differences were assessed with the Mann-Whitney U test. Results: It was found that the duration of surgery, average numbers of erythrocyte and fresh frozen plasma (FFP) transfusions during surgery, average post-operative FFP transfusion count, duration of intensive care unit stay, and chest tube removal times were lower in the ORC group compared to the control group, and all these differences were statistically significant (p < 0.05 for all of these parameters). Conclusions: The study successfully demonstrated the effective and safe use of topical ORC in controlling bleeding and preventing oozing during CABG surgeries.

Abstract:Objective. The aim of the study is to examine the efficacy of laparoscopic radical resection of colorectal cancer combined with neoadjuvant chemotherapy and its impact on the overall prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer (CC). Methods. A total of 80 CC patients hospitalized and treated at our hospital between November 2019 and June 2021 were selected at random as research subjects and divided equally into two groups: the surgical group (n = 40) and the combination group (n = 40). Patients in the surgical group were treated with laparoscopic radical resection, while patients in the combination group received laparoscopic radical resection combined with neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The two groups were compared in terms of surgery-related indicators, tumor markers (serum carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), glycoprotein 199 (CA199), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9)), postoperative complications, and 1–3 years postoperative survival rate and recurrence rate. Results. The surgical duration of the combination group was significantly shorter than the surgical group ( P < 0.05 ). No significant differences were found in intraoperative blood loss, time to get out of bed, exhaust time, or hospital stay between the two groups ( P < 0.05 ). In the combination group, serum tumor markers (carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), carbohydrate antigen 199 (CA199), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9)) were markedly lower than those in the surgical group ( P < 0.05 ). The combination group exhibited fewer postoperative complications than those in the operation group ( P < 0.05 ). In the combination group, the 1–3 years postoperative survival rate was higher, while the 1–3 years postoperative recurrence rate was considerably lower than that in the surgical group ( P < 0.05 ). Conclusion. CC patients benefit well from laparoscopic radical resection coupled with neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The approach is efficient in lowering blood tumor markers in patients and lowering the risk of surgery-related complications. It has the potential to enhance patients' long-term prognoses, allowing them to live longer and lower their chance of recurrence.
