Abstract:As the problem of energy shortage becomes increasingly severe and the energy utilization in residential buildings plays an important role in total energy consumption, it is crucial for us to continually investigate and analyze energy utilization structure of residential buildings to impel energy-efficiency research. Therefore, residential buildings in Changsha city of Hunan province were chosen after the summer investigation. And 100 representative families in winter investigation, which were accordant with those in summer, were selected as the survey subjects according to building characteristics and areas in the city where the buildings locate. The investigation, which lasted for 5 days in the January of 2003, was made up of two parts: one was on-site testing with the view of using these objective data to analyze whether there was any relation between energy utilization and thermal environment, the other was questionnaire with the view of finding other potential factors which affect energy utilization. On-site testing included the following contents: indoor temperature of all families was measured manually through normal precision thermometers in the morning, noon and evening respectively; indoor and outdoor temperature and relative humidity of 10 families, which were selected as the typical investigation objects, were registered at intervals of 30 minutes through a kind of automatic registering apparatus. The main contents of the questionnaire were: occupants' daily activities, living habits, building characteristics and so on, which were estimated to reflect various factors of effecting energy utilization. Investigation results are expressed in tables and diagrams, then mathematical analysis tools are utilized to further tackle the factors, such as the occupants' demand of thermal comfort, living habits, family incomes, the features of local weather and climate, governmental energy policy, building structure and functions, which may have effect on the energy utilization structure. The conclusions are obtained and their reference values for energy policy adjustment and programming are discussed eventually.
