Abstract:In order to obtain the excellent comprehensive properties of microwave absorbers (MAs), core@shell structured Co0.6Fe2.4O4@MoS2 nanocomposites were elaborately constructed and synthesized by a facile two-step hydrothermal method. Due to the independence of the two-step processes, the method could be applied to produce different categories of MoS2 based nanocomposites. The obtained results demonstrated that the as-prepared Co0.6Fe2.4O4@MoS2 nanocomposites exhibited superior electromagnetic wave absorption performances with very low minimum reflection loss (RLmin) value and broad absorption bandwidth at thin matching thicknesses. Impressively, the optimal RLmin value reached -79.9 dB at 11.2 GHz with a thickness of 2.73 mm, and an effective bandwidth of 5.96 GHz was observed with thicknesses of 2.34 and 2.98 mm. Taking into account their the low cost of production, high stability and controllability, the obtained results demonstrated that the Co0.6Fe2.4O4@MoS2 nanocomposites achieved in this study are very attractive candidates for new types of high performance MAs. Moreover, we believe that constructing core@shell structured MoS2-based nanocomposites is a reliable strategy to accelerate advancements of MAs.

Abstract:It is still a great challenge to develop high-performance microwave absorption materials (MAMs). Herein, we first proved the excellent synergistic effect of Fe3O4@MoS2 heterostructure based on the theoretical calculations. To effectively utilize the synergistic effect and morphology, core and shell-interchangeable Fe3O4@MoS2 and MoS2@Fe3O4 nanocomposites (NCs) were elaborately constructed. By controlling the hydrothermal temperature, different MoS2 morphologies and contents of Fe3O4@MoS2 NCs were produced, which simultaneously displayed the optimal reflection loss (RL) values (similar to-50 dB), broad absorption bandwidth (>= 5.0 GHz) and high chemical stabilities. With the synthesis temperature increasing from 170 degrees C to 200 degrees C, their outstanding microwave absorption (MA) capabilities moved towards the high frequency region and thin matching thickness. Impressively, the Fe3O4@MoS2 obtained at 200 degrees C presented a minimum RL value of -50.75 dB with the thickness of 2.90 mm and an absorption bandwidth of 5.0 GHz with the thickness of 1.71 mm, and the excellent MA capabilities (RL values <-30 dB) with the low matching thicknesses (<2 mm) could be observed in the frequency range of X and Ku bands. Moreover, compared to the reverse structureMoS(2)@Fe3O4, the core@shell structure Fe3O4@MoS(2 )exhibited evidently superior MA comprehensive properties in terms of low optimal RL value, broad absorption bandwidth and high chemical stability, which could be ascribed to the improved impedance matching and microwave attenuation characteristics. Generally, the proposed flower-like core@shell structure Fe3O4@MoS2 NCs presented very extraordinary MA comprehensive properties, which were very attractive candidates for high-performance MAMs. (C) 2020 Elsevier Inc. Abstract:Morphology optimization is an effective strategy to take full advantage of interface polarization for the improvement of electromagnetic wave attenuation capability. Herein, a general route was proposed to produce the flower-like core@shell structured MoS2-based nanocomposites through a simple hydrothermal process. Through the in-situ hydrothermal reaction between the Mo and S sources on the surface of CoNi nanoparticles, flower-like core@shell structured CoNi2S4/Co9S8@MoS2 nanocomposites could be successfully synthesized. By regulating the hydrothermal temperature, the flower-like geometrical morphology of samples could be effectively optimized, and the as-prepared sample (S2) synthesized at 200 °C displayed very excellent flower-like morphology compared to the samples (S1 and S3) obtained at 180 and 220 °C. Owing to the excellent interface polarization effect, the as-prepared S2 presented the evidently superior comprehensive microwave absorption properties in terms of strong aborption capability, wide absorption bandwidth and thin matching thicknesses compared to those of S1 and S3. The as-prepared core@shell structured CoNi2S4/Co9S8@MoS2 sample with very excellent flower-like morphology simultaneously displayed the minimal reflection loss of -50.61 dB with the matching thickness of 2.98 mm, and the effective absorption bandwidth of 8.40 GHz with the matching thickness of 2.36 mm. Therefore, we provided a general route for the production of flower-like core@shell structured MoS2-based nanocomposites, which could make the best of interface polarization to develop high-efficiency microwave absorbers.

Abstract:Core–shell structures and interfacial polarization are of great significance to meet the diversified requirements of microwave attenuation. Herein, α-Fe2O3@MoS2 nanocomposites are fabricated via a simple two-step hydrothermal process, in which MoS2 nanosheets as the shell are self-assembled and α-Fe2O3 microdrums are used as the core to constitute a special flower-like morphology with core–shell structure. This structure can provide more interface contact to achieve strong interfacial polarization and possibly offer more multiple reflection and scattering of electromagnetic waves. Furthermore, the microwave dissipation performances of α-Fe2O3@MoS2 nanocomposites can be significantly improved through construction of core–shell structure and flower-like morphology, controlling the content of α-Fe2O3 microdrums and adjusting the filler loading ratios. This work proves that the as-synthesized nanocomposites achieve excellent effective absorption bandwidth and outstanding electromagnetic wave absorption capabilities due to their special interfaces, core–shell structures and good impedance matching conditions. Therefore, α-Fe2O3@MoS2 nanocomposites are expected to be a novel and desirable candidate for high-performance electromagnetic wave absorbers.

Abstract:In this work,we put forward a scheme to exquisitely design and selectively synthesize the core@shell structured MSe 2 /FeSe 2 @MoSe 2 （M=Co,Ni） flower-like multicomponent nanocomposites（MCNCs）through a simple two-step hydrothermal reaction on the surfaces of MFe 2 O 4 nanospheres with the certain amounts of Mo and Se sources.With increasing the amounts of Mo and Se sources,the obtained core@shell structured MSe 2 /FeSe 2 @MoSe 2 （M=Co,Ni） MCNCs with the enhanced content of MoSe 2 and improved flower-like geometry morphology could be produced on a large scale.The obtained results revealed that the as-prepared samples displayed improved comprehensive microwave absorption properties（CMAPs） with the increased amounts of Mo and Se sources.The as-prepared CoSe 2 /FeSe 2 @MoSe 2 and NiSe 2 /FeSe 2 @MoSe 2 MCNCs with the well-defined flower-like morphology could simultaneously present the outstanding CMAPs in terms of strong absorption capability,wide absorption bandwidth,and thin matching thicknesses,which mainly originated from the conduction loss and flower-like geometry morphology.Therefore,the findings not only develop the very desirable candidates for high-performance microwave absorption materials but also pave a new way for optimizing the CMAPs through tailoring morphology engineering.

Abstract:Unique structural design and precise compositional adjustment are universally accepted as effective methods for the enhancement of microwave absorption capacity. However, a profound mechanism is still lacking. Recently, diverse structural construction of MoS 2 sheets has attracted considerable attention. This research utilizes flower-like structural construction and composition regulation strategies to enhance the efficiency of MoS 2 -based microwave absorbing materials. It aims to thoroughly reveal the correlations between structures, components, dielectric properties and the impedance matching characteristics. The high aspect ratio of carbon nanotubes is utilized to construct a complex conductive network. The MoS 2 flowers facilitate multiple scattering and reflection, increasing the transmission path of microwaves. Moreover, the heterojunction interfaces between MoS 2 and carbon nanotubes enhanced the microwave attenuation mechanism. The results demonstrate that the samples exhibited a strong microwave response at 1.95 mm, with a maximum attenuation of −41.59 dB. Simultaneously, CST simulations verify the actual microwave absorption performance of the composite under far-field conditions. The vertical incident radar cross-section values, compared to PEC, were reduced by a maximum of 36.81 dBm 2 . These findings clearly indicate that the composite possesses excellent impedance matching and high absorption efficiency. This study provides an in-depth analysis of the microwave loss mechanism in dielectric microwave absorption materials, offering reference for enhancing the performance of similar materials.

Abstract:To effectively utilize the unique properties of layered transition metal dichalcogenide and the attractive morphology of hierarchical flower for the attenuation of electromagnetic wave, herein, high-efficiency flowerlike core@shell structure FeSe2@MoSe2 nanocomposites were firstly synthesized through a simple in situ hydrothermal reaction on the surfaces of Fe3O4 nanoparticles with the adequate amounts of Mo and Se sources. The obtained results indicated that the designed flower-like core@shell structure FeSe2@MoSe2 nanocomposites with the filler loadings of 30 wt% and 40 wt% presented the optimal reflection loss (RLopt) value of -59.87 dB at 11 GHz with a matching thickness of 3.10 mm and -60.53 dB at 13.52 GHz with a matching thickness of 2.47 mm. And their corresponding effective frequency bandwidth (fb) values were up to 10.0 GHz with a thickness of 3.66 mm and 6.00 GHz with a thickness of 2.12 mm, respectively. It was worth pointing out that the as-prepared flower-like FeSe2@MoSe2 nanocomposite with filler loading of 30 wt% could simultaneously present very extraordinary electromagnetic wave absorption capabilities and broad absorption bandwidth with the very thin matching thicknesses, which was desirable for high-efficient microwave absorbers. Therefore, a simple and effective strategy was proposed to produce flower-like core@shell structure MoSe2-based nanocomposites, which could be applied as the very desirable candidates for high-performance microwave absorption materials.
A Combined Strategy to Constructure MoX2 (x=se and S)-based Core@shell Structure Flower-Like Multicomponent Nanocomposites for Boosted Conduction Loss, Polarization Loss and Microwave Absorption Capacities

Abstract:Interfacial effects or/and magnetic/dielectric synergy can be utilized effective strategies to improve electromagnetic wave (EMW) attenuation. Herein, using CoNi nanospheres as precursor, core@shell CoNi@C nanospheres could be efficiently fabricated via a facile polymerization and subsequent thermal treatment. And core@shell CoNi/NiSe2/Co9Se8@C@MoSe2 and CoNi2S4/Co9S8@C@MoS2 flower-like multicomponent nanocomposites (MCNCs) were fabricated via hydrothermal reaction amongst the obtained CoNi@C, Mo and Se/S sources. The generated carbon acting as protective layer was verified to greatly restrain the selenization of CoNi nanospheres during the formation of MoSe2 nanosheets, generating CoNi/NiSe2/Co9Se8@C@MoSe2. And the complete sulfidation of CoNi alloys led to the formation of CoNi2S4/Co9S8@C@MoS2. Because of their boosted impedance matching, conductive and polarization loss abilities, the acquired flower-like MoX2 (X=Se and S)-based MCNCs displayed greatly improved EMW absorption characteristics (EMWACs) compared with their precursors. Especially, the extraordinary synergistic effect generated into the magnetic/dielectric MCNCs contributed to outstanding EMWACs of CoNi/NiSe2/Co9Se8@C@MoSe2 flower-like MCNCs. Accordingly, our findings provided a combined strategy to simultaneously make the most of magnetic/dielectric synergistic and interfacial effects for boosted conduction loss, polarization loss and EMWACs.

Abstract:Nanocomposites with a three-dimensional (3D) flower-like geometrical morphology were considered as excellent microwave absorbers (MAs) because of the numerous effective sites for the multiple reflections of electromagnetic (EM) wave. Herein, for optimizing the EM matching characteristic and taking full advantage of interface polarization, a strategy of magnetic modulation was proposed to further improve the EM wave absorption performances (EMWAPs) of MoS2-based nanocomposites. We adopted a simple hydrothermal route and a combined method of hydrothermal treatment/hydrogen reduction to synthesize core@shell CoFe2O4@MoS2 and CoFe@MoO2/MoS2 flower-like nanocomposites, respectively. The obtained results indicated that the hydrogen reduction effectively improved their magnetic properties and magnetic loss capabilities, and their 3D flower-like geometrical morphologies were well maintained during the hydrogen reduction process. The obtained core@shell CoFe@MoO2/MoS2 flower-like nanocomposites presented the extraordinary comprehensive EMWAPs including the optimal reflection loss value of -54.83 dB with the matching thicknesses (dm) value of 2.05 mm and effective absorption bandwidth value of 6.40 GHz with the dm value of 2.59 mm, which were evidently superior to the properties of CoFe2O4@MoS2. Therefore, the findings provided an effective pathway to further improve EMWAPs of MoS2-based core@shell nanocomposites and the as-prepared core@shell CoFe@MoO2/MoS2 flower-like nanocomposites could be utilized as the novel high-efficient MAs.

Abstract:Magnetic core-shell structural mesoporous carbon materials have an extensive application prospect in microwave absorption because of their comprehensive merits of magnetic function and distinctive mesoporous structure. Herein, magnetic core-shell structural carbon N-doped carbon (CoNi/) nanofibers are successfully fabricated by combining homogeneous coating of mesoporous polydopamine, surface deposition of CoNi-bimetal metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), and in-situ growth of CNTs and CoNi nanoparticles. The resultant CoNi/ nanofibers possess a well-defined hierarchical structure consisting of CNTs core and mesoporous carbon shell distributed with short CNTs and CoNi nanoparticles, high surface area (∼316 m 2 g −1 ), high nitrogen content (∼5.5 wt%), and large pore size (∼10 nm). As expected, the rational design of multifunctional components and hierarchical structure endows CoNi/ composites with excellent microwave absorption performance. Particularly, the minimum reflection loss can reach −52.1 dB at 13.4 GHz with only 1.7 mm thickness and the corresponding effective absorption bandwidth is up to 5.2 GHz (12.8–18.0 GHz), outperforming most reported microwave absorbing materials. The microwave absorption mechanism of this material has been deeply investigated and systematically clarified. This work provides meaningful reference for the design and fabrication of functional core-shell microwave absorbers with distinctive mesoporous structure.

Abstract:High encapsulation efficiency of core@shell@shell structured carbon-based magnetic ternary nanohybrids have been synthesized in high yield by chemical vapor deposition of acetylene directly over octahedral-shaped Fe2O3 nanoparticles. By controlling the pyrolysis temperature, Fe3O4@Fe3C@carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and Fe@Fe3C@CNTs ternary nanohybrids could be selectively produced. The optimal RL values for the as-prepared ternary nanohybrids could reach up to ca. -46.7, -52.7 and -29.5 dB, respectively. The excellent microwave absorption properties of the obtaiend ternary nanohybrids were proved to ascribe to the quarter-wavelength matching model. Moreover, the as-prepared Fe@Fe3C@CNTs ternary nanohybrids displayed remarkably enhanced EM wave absorption capabilities compared to Fe3O4@Fe3C@CNTs due to their excellent dielectric loss abilities, good complementarities between the dielectric loss and the magnetic loss, and high attenuation constant. Generally, this strategy can be extended to explore other categories of core@shell or core@shell@shell structured carbon-based nanohybrids, which is very beneficial to accelerate the advancements of high performance MAMs. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. To alleviate the impedance mismatch attributed to the high dielectric constant of Ti3C2Tx MXene, we have successfully synthesized core‐shell structured SiO2@MXene@MoS2 nanospheres. This architecture, comprising SiO2 as the core, MXene as the intermediate layer, and MoS2 as the outer shell, is achieved through an electrostatic self‐assembly method combined with a hydrothermal process. This complex core‐shell structure not only provides a variety of loss mechanisms that effectively dissipate electromagnetic energy but also prevents self‐aggregation of MXene and MoS2 nanosheets. Notably, the synergistic combination of SiO2 and MoS2 with highly conductive MXene enables the suitable dielectric constant of the composites, ensuring optimal impedance matching. Therefore, the core‐shell structured SiO2@MXene@MoS2 nanospheres exhibit excellent EMW absorption performance, featuring a remarkable minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of −52.11 dB (2.4 mm). It is noteworthy that these nanospheres achieve an ultra‐wide effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 6.72 GHz. This work provides a novel approach for designing and synthesizing high‐performance EMW absorbers characterized by “wide bandwidth and strong reflection loss.”
Construction of Hierarchical Yolk-Shell Co/N-Dope C@void@C@MoS2 Composites with Multiple Heterogeneous Interfaces toward Broadband Electromagnetic Wave Absorption

Abstract:The synthesis of materials with a multicomponent hierarchical structure is an essential strategy for achieving high-performance electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption. However, conventional design strategies face challenges in terms of the rational construction of specific architecture. In this study, we employ a combined space-restricted and hierarchical construction strategy to surface-plant MoS2 nanosheets on yolk-shell structural carbon-modified Co-based composites, leading to the development of high-performance Co/NC@void@C@MoS2 absorbers with advanced architecture. The surface-planted MoS2 nanosheets, the Co/NC magnetic yolk, and the dielectric carbon shell work together to enhance the impedance matching characteristics and synergistic loss capabilities in the composites. Experimental results indicate that Co/NC@void@C-700@MoS2 exhibited the best absorption performance with an effective absorption bandwidth of 7.54 GHz (at 2.05 mm) and a minimum reflection loss of -60.88 dB (at 1.85 mm). Furthermore, radar cross-section simulation results demonstrate that Co/NC@void@C-700@MoS2 effectively suppresses the scattering and transmission of EMWs on perfect electric conductor substrates, implying its superior practical application value. This study provides inspiration and experimental basis for designing and optimizing EMW absorption materials with hierarchical yolk-shell architecture.
Constructing Two-, Zero-, and One-Dimensional Integrated Nanostructures: an Effective Strategy for High Microwave Absorption Performance.

Abstract:A novel "201" nanostructure composite consisting of two-dimensional MoS2 nanosheets, zero-dimensional Ni nanoparticles and one-dimensional carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was prepared successfully by a two-step method: Ni nanopaticles were deposited onto the surface of few-layer MoS2 nanosheets by a wet chemical method, followed by chemical vapor deposition growth of CNTs through the catalysis of Ni nanoparticles. The as-prepared 201-MoS2-Ni-CNTs composites exhibit remarkably enhanced microwave absorption performance compared to Ni-MoS2 or Ni-CNTs. The minimum reflection loss (RL) value of 201-MoS2-Ni-CNTs/wax composites with filler loading ratio of 30 wt % reached -50.08 dB at the thickness of 2.4 mm. The maximum effective microwave absorption bandwidth (RL< -10 dB) of 6.04 GHz was obtained at the thickness of 2.1 mm. The excellent absorption ability originates from appropriate impedance matching ratio, strong dielectric loss and large surface area, which are attributed to the "201" nanostructure. In addition, this method could be extended to other low-dimensional materials, proving to be an efficient and promising strategy for high microwave absorption performance.
Construction of MOF-Derived Co/C shell on carbon fiber surface to enhance multi-polarization effect towards efficient broadband electromagnetic wave absorption

Abstract:As a typical fascinating microstructure, the core-shell structure provides abundant possibility for material design in various fields including nano-engineering. In addition, the popular MOF derivatives have been widely explored and recognized as the most potential candidates for functional materials, especially in the field of microwave absorption (MA). Combined with the advantages of their structure and function, it is expected to maximize the synergistic effect and achieve amazing MA performance. In this paper, a series of core-shell CF@C/Co composites were assembled by using lightweight and conductive CF as the core and cubic ZIF-67-derived C/Co with controllable structure and adjustable graphitization as the shell. The intrinsic relationships between shell structure, component content, graphitization degree, electromagnetic parameters and various microwave loss behaviors are analyzed. After properly adjusting the degree of graphitization on the basis of derivation of various C/Co shells, A3-60 0 with obvious multi polarization effect were obtained. A3-60 0 achieves an effective absorption bandwidth of 6.25 GHz at 1.71 mm and the best reflection loss of-71.95 dB at 1.78 mm. This dual strategy of shell evolution design and graphitization control has been proved to be an effective method to coordinate electromagnetic matching and construct multi-polarization effect to enhance the performance of MA. Abstract:Rationally engineering on nanostructure of electromagnetic absorbers provides massive potential for eliminating the pollution caused by electromagnetic radiation. In this work, a series of core-shell Co@C nanotubes were produced via facile pyrolysis of cobalt carbonate hydroxide hydrate/dopamine precursor. Thanks to the well introduction of core-shell and nanotube structure, Co@C composite shows more superior microwave absorption than pristine Co nanoparticles. The unique microstructure provides abundant heterostructures and conductive paths to induce interfacial polarization and conductive loss for boosting dielectric loss. Through regulating the graphitization layer of C shell, the dielectric property could be further enhanced. Coupled with the favorable magnetic loss from the embedded Co nanoparticles, the products exhibit an optimal absorption intensity of -48 dB under low filler content of 30%. And effective absorption frequency bandwidth is up to 5.2 GHz at small thickness of 1.8 mm. Such excellent achievements demonstrate that the core-shell Co@C nanotube composites can be applied as a promising candidate for lightweight and thin electromagnetic absorption.
