Abstract:In the present paper, we consider inexact proximal point algorithms for finding singular points of multivalued vector fields on Hadamard manifolds. The rate of convergence is shown to be linear under the mild assumption of metric subregularity. Furthermore, if the sequence of parameters associated with the iterative scheme converges to 0, then the convergence rate is superlinear. At the same time, the finite termination of the inexact proximal point algorithm is also provided under a weak sharp minima-like condition. Applications to optimization problems are provided. Some of our results are new even in Euclidean spaces, while others improve and/or extend some known results in Euclidean spaces. As a matter of fact, in the case of exact proximal point algorithm, our results improve the corresponding results in [G. C. Bento and J. X. Cruz Neto, Opttm., 63 (2014), pp. 1281-1288]. Finally, several examples are provided to illustrate that our results are applicable while the corresponding results in the Hilbert space setting are not.

Abstract:Inexact proximal point methods are extended to find singular points for multivalued vector fields on Hadamard manifolds. Convergence criteria are established under some mild conditions. In particular, in the case of proximal point algorithm, that is, ε _n=0 for each n , our results improve sharply the corresponding results in Li et al. ( 2009 ). Abstract:We give properties of strict pseudocontractions and demicontractions defined on a Hilbert space, which constitute wide classes of operators that arise in iterative methods for solving fixed point problems. In particular, we give necessary and sufficient conditions under which a convex combination and composition of strict pseudocontractions as well as demicontractions that share a common fixed point is again a strict pseudocontraction or a demicontraction, respectively. Moreover, we introduce a generalized relaxation of composition of demicontraction and give its properties. We apply these properties to prove the weak convergence of a class of algorithms that is wider than the Douglas-Rachford algorithm and projected Landweber algorithms. We have also presented two numerical examples, where we compare the behavior of the presented methods with the Douglas-Rachford method.

Some convergence results and linear convergence results are established, which extend the corresponding ones from Hilbert spaces to Hadamrd manifolds. Abstract:We study the issue of strong convergence of inexact proximal point algorithms (introduced by Rockafellar in [SIAM J. Control Optim., 14 (1976), pp. 877-898]) for maximal monotone operators on Hilbert spaces. A unified global/local strong convergence of inexact proximal point algorithms is established under the Holder metrically subregular condition. Furthermore, quantitative estimates on the convergence rate of inexact proximal point algorithms are also provided. Applying to the special case of the classical (exact) proximal point algorithm, our results improve the corresponding ones in [G. Li and B. S. Mordukhovich, SIAM J. Optim., 22 (2012), pp. 1655-1684]. Finally, as applications, global/local strong convergence and estimates on the convergence rate of inexact proximal point algorithms for optimization problems are presented.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce three new inertial-like Bregman projection methods with a nonmonotone adaptive step-size for solving quasi-monotone variational inequalities in real Hilbert spaces. Under some suitable conditions, the weak convergence of these methods is proved without the prior knowledge of the Lipschitz constant of the operator and the strong convergence of some proposed methods under a strong quasi-monotonicity assumption of the mapping is also provided. Finally, several numerical experiments and applications in image restoration problems are provided to illustrate the performance of the proposed methods.

Abstract:Bregman distance methods play a key role in solving problems in nonlinear analysis and optimization theory, since the Bregman distance is a useful substitute for the metric. The main purpose of this paper is to investigate two new iterative algorithms based on the Bregman distance and the Bregman projection for solving split feasibility problems in real Hilbert spaces. The algorithms are constructed around these methods: Byrne's CQ method, Polyak's gradient method, Halpern method, and hybrid projection method. The proposed methods involve inertial extrapolation terms and self-adaptive step sizes. We prove that the proposed iterations converge strongly to the Bregman projection of the initial point onto the solution set. Some numerical examples are provided to illustrate the computational effectiveness of our algorithms. The main results extend and improve the recent results related to the split feasibility problem.

Abstract:In this work, we establish the closedness and convexity of the set of fixed points of equally continuous and asymptotically demicontractive mapping in the intermediate sense. We proposed an inertial hybrid projection technique for determining an approximate common solution to three significant problems. The first is the system of generalized mixed equilibrium problems with relaxed η−ζ monotone mappings, the second is the problem of fixed points of a countable family of equally continuous and asymptotically demicontractive mappings in the intermediate sense, and the third is of determining a point in a null space of a countable family of inverse strongly monotone mappings in Hilbert space. Based on these problems, we formulate a theorem and establish its strong convergence to their common solution. Additionally, we studied the applications of our algorithm to variational inequality problems and convex optimization problems. Finally, we numerically demonstrate the efficiency and robustness of our scheme. Several results available in the literature can be obtained as special cases of our result.

Abstract:Under the assumption that the sectional curvature of the manifold is bounded from below, we establish convergence result about the cyclic subgradient projection algorithm for convex feasibility problem presented in a paper by Bento and Melo on Riemannian manifolds (J Optim Theory Appl 152, 773–785, 2012). If, additionally, we assume that a Slater type condition is satisfied, then we further show that, without changing the step size, this algorithm terminates in a finite number of iterations. Clearly, our results extend the corresponding ones due to Bento and Melo and, in particular, we solve partially the open problem proposed in the paper by Bento and Melo.

Abstract:In the present paper, we study the finite termination of sequences generated by inexact proximal point algorithms for finding zeroes of a maximal monotone (set-valued) operator T on a Hilbert space. Under some mild conditions, we get that a sequence generated by inexact proximal point algorithm stops after a finite number of iterations. Our results extend the corresponding results in Rockafellar (SIAM J Control Optim 14:877–898, 1976 ). In particular, for optimization problems, our results improve corresponding results in Ferris (Math Progr 50:359–366, 1991 ). As applications, we obtain finite termination of projected gradient method.

Abstract:We present some sufficient conditions ensuring the upper semicontinuity and the continuity of the Bregman projection operator ΠCg and the relative projection operator PCg in terms of the D-approximate (weak) compactness for a nonempty closed set C in a Banach space X. We next present certain sufficient conditions as well as equivalent conditions for the convexity of a Chebyshev subset of a Banach space X. Our results extend the corresponding results of [H.H. Bauschke, X.F. Wang, J. Ye and X. M. Yuan, Bregman distances and Chebyshev sets, J. Approx. Theory 159 (2009) 3–25] to infinite dimensional spaces.

Abstract:This paper deals with the problem of finding a common solution for a fixed point problem for strictly pseudocontractive mappings and for a certain variational inequality problem. We propose a projection-type implicit averaged algorithm and establish the strong convergence of the sequences generated by this method to the common solution for the fixed point problem and the variational inequality problem. In order to illustrate the feasibility of the hypotheses and the superiority of our theoretical results over the existing literature, an example is also presented.

Abstract:In this paper, a modified projection algorithm is proposed in order to solve a common element of the solution set of monotone variational inequality and the fixed point set of a class of quasi-pseudo-contractive mapping. This algorithm requires the monotonicity and Lipschitz continuity of the mapping, but don't need to know Lipschitz constant. On one hand, this algorithm does not compute the projection onto the feasible set at each iteration, on the other hand, the strong convergence of the sequence generated by the algorithm can be obtained without viscosity technology, and the convergence rate of the algorithm better than some algorithms, and the effect of the algorithm is illustrated by two numerical experiments.

Abstract:This research paper investigated fixed point results for almost ($ \zeta-\theta _{\rho } $)-contractions in the context of quasi-metric spaces. The study focused on a specific class of ($ \zeta -\theta _{\rho } $)-contractions, which exhibit a more relaxed form of contractive property than classical contractions. The research not only established the existence of fixed points under the almost ($ \zeta -\theta _{\rho } $)-contraction framework but also provided sufficient conditions for the convergence of fixed point sequences. The proposed theorems and proofs contributed to the advancement of the theory of fixed points in quasi-metric spaces, shedding light on the intricate interplay between contraction-type mappings and the underlying space's quasi-metric structure. Furthermore, an application of these results was presented, highlighting the practical significance of the established theory. The application demonstrated how the theory of almost ($ \zeta -\theta _{\rho } $)-contractions in quasi-metric spaces can be utilized to solve real-world problems.

Abstract:In this manuscript, a novel general class of contractions, called Jaggi–Suzuki-type hybrid ( G - α - φ )-contraction, is introduced and some fixed point theorems that cannot be deduced from their akin in metric spaces are proved. The dominance of this family of contractions is that its contractive inequality can be specialized in various manners, depending on multiple parameters. Nontrivial comparative examples are constructed to validate the assumptions of our obtained theorems. Consequently, a number of corollaries that reduce our result to some prominent results in the literature are highlighted and analyzed. Additionally, we examine Ulam-type stability and well-posedness for the new contraction proposed herein. Finally, one of our obtained corollaries is applied to set up unprecedented existence conditions for solution to a class of integral equations. For future aspects of our results, an open problem is noted concerning the discretized population balance model, whose solution may be analyzed using the techniques established herein.

Abstract:Fixed Point Theory is among the most valued research topics nowadays. Over the years, it has been developed in three directions: by generalizing the metric space, by establishing new contractive conditions, and by applying its results to various fields such as Differential Equations, Integral Equations, Economics, etc. In this paper, we define a new class of cone metric spaces called the class of extended quasi-cone b-metric spaces. Extended quasi-cone b-metric spaces generalize cone metric spaces and quasi-cone b-metric spaces. We have studied topological issues, such as the right and left topologies, right (left) Cauchy, and convergent sequences. Furthermore, there are determined generalized τ-almost contractions, which extend the almost contractions. The highlight of this study is the investigation of the existence and uniqueness of a fixed point for some types of generalized τ-almost contractions in extended quasi-cone b-metric space. We prove some corollaries and theorems for known contractions in extended quasi-cone b-metric spaces. Our results generalize some known theorems given in literature due to the new cone metric spaces and contractions. Concrete examples illustrate theoretical outcomes. In addition, we show an application of the main results to Integral Equations, which provides the applicative side of them.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper was to introduce several $ b $-generalized contractive mappings in the framework of cone $ b $-metric spaces over Banach algebras. The obtained contractions generalized and extended the counterparts in metric spaces, cone metric spaces, and $ b $-metric spaces. Moreover, via weakening the completeness of the spaces, we gave some fixed point theorems for asymptotically regular mappings without considering the orbital continuity and $ k $-continuity of the mappings. Those who need a specification is our results do not rely on the continuity of $ b $-metric and the normality of cones. In addition, some nontrivial examples were presented to illustrate the superiority of our fixed point theorems.

Abstract:In this paper, we work on the existence of approximate solution for the fixed point equation Rx + Qx = x, when R is a weak contractive mapping and Q is a continuous self-map which is a new topic related to the background literature. Till now, no results were found to find the existence of approximate solution for such a kind of mappings in literature to the best of our knowledge. Here we prove the existence of best proximity point for the sum of a weak contractive non self map and a continuous self map. Also, we provide an example to support our main theorem. And also, we prove the existence of best proximity point for the sum of Geraghty-contraction and continuous map.
