Abstract:We prove the local and global invertibility of Sobolev solutions of certain differential inclusions which prevent the differential matrix from having negative eigenvalues. Our results are new even for quasiregular mappings in two dimensions.

Abstract:As is known, the local behavior of maps is one of the most important problems of analysis. This, in particular, relates to the study of mappings with bounded and finite distortion, which have been actively studied recently. As for this work, here we solve the problem of the behavior of maps, the inverse of which satisfies the Poletsky inequality. The main result is the statement about the equicontinuity of the indicated mappings inside the domain in the case when the majorant corresponding to the distortion of the module under the mapping is integrable in the original domain. It should be emphasized that the proof of this result is largely geometric, at the same time, it uses only the conditions of boundedness of the direct and mapped domains and does not involve any requirements on their boundaries. The study of families of mappings inverse to a given class may turn out to be trivial if we are talking about quasiconformal mappings. In the latter case, we do not go beyond the limits of the class under study in the transition to inverse maps. Nevertheless, when studying mappings with unbounded characteristic, this question is quite substantial, as simple examples of the corresponding classes show. The idea of the proof of the main result is based on the fact that the inner points of an arbitrary domain are weakly flat. The last statement can be called the Väisälä lemma, which was established in his monograph and related to families of curves joining two continua between the plates of a spherical condenser. The proof is also based on the fact that the module of families of curves joining two converging continua in a good domain must tend to infinity. In this case, the neighborhood of some inner point of the mapped domain serves as ''good'' region, in which we check the equicontinuity of the inverse family of maps. The results of this article are applicable to many other classes of mappings such as mappings with a finite distortion in the sense of Iwaniec, Sobolev classes on the plane and in space, and so on.

Abstract:We study mappings differentiable almost everywhere, possessing the N-Luzin property, the N?1-property on the spheres with respect to the (n ? 1)-dimensional Hausdorff measure and such that the image of the set where its Jacobian equals to zero has a zero Lebesgue measure. It is proved that such mappings satisfy the lower bound for the Poletsky-type distortion in their definition domain.

Abstract:We study a question of density of Lipschitz mappings in the Sobolev class of mappings from a closed manifold into a singular space. The main result of the paper shows that if we change the metric in the target space to a bi-Lipschitz equivalent one, than the property of the density of Lipschitz mappings may be lost.

Abstract:The global homeomorphism theorem for quasiconformal maps describes the following specifically higher-dimensional phenomenon: {\em Locally invertible quasiconformal mapping $f: {\R}^{n} \to {\R}^{n}$ is globally invertible provided $n > 2$.} We prove the following operator version of the global homeomorphism theorem. {\em If the operator $ f: H \to H $ acting in the Hilbert space $ H $ is locally invertible and is an operator of bounded distortion, then it is globally invertible.}

Abstract:Compared to the standard variational inequalities, inverse variational inequalities are more suitable for pricing American options with indefinite payoff. This paper investigated the initial-boundary value problem of inverse variational inequalities constituted by a class of non-divergence type parabolic operators. We established the existence and Hölder continuity of weak solutions. Since the comparison principle in the case of standard variational inequalities is no longer applicable, we constructed an integral inequality using differential inequalities to determine the global upper bound of the solution. By combining it with the continuous method, we obtained the existence of weak solutions. Additionally, by employing truncation factors, we obtained the lower bound of weak solutions in the cylindrical subdomain, thereby obtaining the Hölder continuity.

Viability for locally monotone evolution inclusions and lower semicontinuous solutions of Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations in infinite dimensions

Abstract:We establish necessary and sufficient conditions for viability of evolution inclusions with locally monotone operators in the sense of Liu and Röckner [J. Funct. Anal., 259 (2010), pp. 2902-2922]. This allows us to prove wellposedness of lower semicontinuous solutions of Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations associated to the optimal control of evolution inclusions. Thereby, we generalize results in Bayraktar and Keller [J. Funct. Anal., 275 (2018), pp. 2096-2161] on Hamilton-Jacobi equations in infinite dimensions with monotone operators in several ways. First, we permit locally monotone operators. This extends the applicability of our theory to a wider class of equations such as Burgers' equations, reaction-diffusion equations, and 2D Navier-Stokes equations. Second, we allow state constraints. Third, we have uniqueness of viscosity solutions. Our results on viability and lower semicontinuous solutions are new even in the case of monotone operators.

We consider mappings of quasiextremal distance domains, domains with a locally quasiconformal boundary, and domains which are regular in the sense of prime ends onto domains with a locally quasiconformal boundary, regular domains, or domains which are locally Hölder equivalent to a half-ball on its boundary. For such mappings, we have obtained the Hölder logarithmic continuity in some neighborhood of its boundary points.

Abstract:In this paper we consider nonlinear elliptic PDEs of the type $$-\Delta_p u+a(x)|u|^{p-2}u=|u|^{p^*-2}u \qquad \mbox{ in }\Omega,$$ where $1<p<N$ and $p^*=Np/(N-p)$ is the critical Sobolev exponent, and allowing the asymptotic behavior of the weight function $a$ to be sensitive to the direction. We provide a unified variational approach to obtain existence of distinct solutions in either the unbounded case $\Omega=\mathbb{R}^N$ or when $\Omega$ is a smooth bounded domain. A key point is a precise description of the compactness properties of certain sequences of approximating solutions (Palais-Smale sequences), for which we use novel observations on nonexistence in certain regimes. Most of our main results are new in the case of the classical Laplace operator, $p=2$.

Abstract:A recognized trend of research investigates generalizations of the Hadamard's inversion theorem to functions that may fail to be differentiable. In this vein, the present paper explores some consequences of a recent result about the existence of global Lipschitz continuous inverse by translating its assumptions of metric nature in terms of nonsmooth analysis constructions. This exploration focuses on continuous, but possibly not locally Lipschitz mappings, acting in finite-dimensional Euclidean spaces. As a result, sufficient conditions for global invertibility are formulated by means of strict estimators, ∗ -difference of convex compacta and regular/basic coderivatives. These conditions qualify the global inverse as a Lipschitz continuous mapping and provide quantitative estimates of its Lipschitz constant in terms of the above constructions.

The first class we drop the $\Delta_2$-condition of the functions $\tilde{\Phi}_i$($i=1,2$) and assume that $F$ has a double criticality. For this class, we use a linking theorem without the Palais-Smale condition for locally Lipschitz functionals combined with a concentration-compactness lemma for nonreflexive Orlicz-Sobolev space. The second class, we relax the $\Delta_2$-condition of the functions ${\Phi}_i$($i=1,2$). For this class, we consider $F=0$ and $\lambda=1$ and obtain the proof based on a saddle-point theorem of Rabinowitz without the Palais-Smale condition for functionals Frechet differentiable combined with some properties of the weak$^*$ topology.

Abstract:We consider open discrete mappings that satisfy the modulus condition of the inverse Poletsky inequality type. We study the case when the majorant in it is integrable, or more generally, has finite averages over infinitesimal spheres. We proved that such mappings have a continuous extension to an isolated point of the boundary of some domain without any a priori requirements on the corresponding mapped domain for integrable majorants. In the case of majorants, integrable on spheres, we require only the boundedness of the mapped domain. We do not require any other topological conditions on the mappings.

Abstract:In their seminal work, Bourgain and Li establish strong ill-posedness of the 2D incompressible Euler equations with vorticity in the critical Sobolev space $W^{s,p}(\mathbb{R}^2)$ for $sp=2$ and $p\in(1,\infty)$. In this note, we establish short-time existence of solutions with vorticity in the critical space $W^{2,1}(\mathbb{R}^2)$. Under the additional assumption that the initial vorticity is Dini continuous, we prove that the $W^{2,1}$-regularity of vorticity persists for all time.

Abstract:<p class="a-plus-plus">The paper is devoted to the study of mappings satisfying the inverse Poletsky inequality. We study the local behavior of these mappings. We are most interested in the case when the corresponding majorant is integrable on some set of spheres of positive linear measure. Our main result is a logarithmic Hölder continuity of such mappings at inner points. As a corollary, we have established the existence of a continuous <em class="a-plus-plus">ACL</em>-solution of the Beltrami equation, which is logarithmic Hölder continuous.</p>

Obstacle problems for nonlocal operators with singular kernels

Abstract:In this paper we establish optimal regularity estimates and smoothness of free boundaries for nonlocal obstacle problems governed by a very general class of integro-differential operators with possibly singular kernels. More precisely, in contrast to all previous known results, we are able to treat nonlocal operators whose kernels are not necessarily pointwise comparable to the one of the fractional Laplacian. Such operators might be very anisotropic in the sense that they "do not see" certain directions at all, or might have substantial oscillatory behavior, causing the nonlocal Harnack inequality to fail.
