Abstract:Let $G$ be a connected graph and let $k$ be a positive integer. Let $T$ be a spanning tree of $G$. The leaf degree of a vertex $v\in V(T)$ is defined as the number of leaves adjacent to $v$ in $T$. The leaf degree of $T$ is the maximum leaf degree among all the vertices of $T$. Let $A(G)$ be the adjacency matrix of $G$ and $D(G)$ be the diagonal degree matrix of $G$. Let $Q(G)=D(G)+A(G)$ be the signless Laplacian matrix of $G$. The largest eigenvalue of $Q(G)$, denoted by $q(G)$, is called the signless Laplacian spectral radius of $G$. In this paper, we investigate the connection between the spanning tree and the signless Laplacian spectral radius of $G$, and put forward a sufficient condition based upon the signless Laplacian spectral radius to guarantee that a graph $G$ contains a spanning tree with leaf degree at most $k$. Finally, we construct some extremal graphs to claim all the bounds obtained in this paper are sharp.

Abstract:The signless Laplacian spectral radius of a graph $G$, denoted by $q(G)$, is the largest eigenvalue of its signless Laplacian matrix. In this paper, we investigate extremal signless Laplacian spectral radius for graphs without short cycles or long cycles. Let $\mathcal{G}(m,g)$ be the family of graphs on $m$ edges with girth $g$ and $\mathcal{H}(m,c)$ be the family of graphs on $m$ edges with circumference $c$. More precisely, we obtain the unique extremal graph with maximal $q(G)$ in $\mathcal{G}(m,g)$ and $\mathcal{H}(m,c)$, respectively.

Abstract:Let $F_{a_1,\dots,a_k}$ be a graph consisting of $k$ cycles of odd length $2a_1+1,\dots, 2a_k+1,$ respectively, which intersect in exactly one common vertex, where $k\geq1$ and $a_1\ge a_2\ge \cdots\ge a_k\ge 1$. In this paper, we present a sharp upper bound for the signless Laplacian spectral radius of all $F_{a_1,\dots,a_k}$-free graphs and characterize all extremal graphs which attain the bound. The stability methods and structure of graphs associated with the eigenvalue are adapted for the proof.

Abstract:Let $F_k$ denote the $k$-fan consisting of $k$ triangles which intersect in exactly one common vertex, and $S_{n,k}$ the complete split graph of order $n$ consisting of a clique on $k$ vertices and an independent set on the remaining vertices in which each vertex of the clique is adjacent to each vertex of the independent set. In this paper, it is shown that $S_{n,k}$ is the unique graph attaining the maximum signless Laplacian spectral radius among all graphs of order $n$ containing no $F_k$, provided that $k\geq 2$ and $n\geq 3k^2-k-2$.

Abstract:In this paper we define signless Laplacian matrix of a hypergraph and obtain structural properties from its eigenvalues. We generalize several known results for graphs, relating the spectrum of this matrix with structural parameters of the hypergraph such as the maximum degree, diameter and the chromatic number. In addition, we characterize the complete signless Laplacian spectrum for the class of the power hypergraphs from the spectrum of its base hypergraph.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a simple connected graph of order $n$ and $\partial(G)$ is the spectral radius of the distance matrix $D(G)$ of $G$. The transmission $D_i$ of vertex $i$ is the $i$-th row sum of $D(G)$. Denote by $D_{\max}(G)$ the maximum of transmissions over all vertices of $G$, and $\partial^Q(G)$ is the spectral radius of the distance signless Laplacian matrix $D(G)+\mbox{diag}(D_1,D_2,\ldots,D_n)$. In this paper, we present a sharp lower bound of $2D_{\max}(G)-\partial^Q(G)$ among all $n$-vertex connected graphs, and characterize the extremal graphs. Furthermore, we give the minimum values of respective $D_{\max}(G)-\partial(G)$ and $2D_{\max}(G)-\partial^Q(G)$ on trees and characterize the extremal trees.

Abstract:Let $A(G)$ and $D(G)$ be the adjacency and degree matrices of a simple graph $G$ on $n$ vertices, respectively. The \emph{$A_\alpha$-spectral radius} of $G$ is the largest eigenvalue of $A_\alpha (G)=\alpha D(G)+(1-\alpha)A(G)$ for a real number $\alpha \in[0,1]$. In this paper, for $\alpha \in (0,1)$, we obtain a sharp upper bound for the $A_\alpha$-spectral radius of graphs on $n$ vertices without a subgraph isomorphic to a liner forest for $n$ large enough and characterize all graphs which attain the upper bound. As a result, we completely obtain the maximum signless Laplacian spectral radius of graphs on $n$ vertices without a subgraph isomorphic to a liner forest for $n$ large enough.

Abstract:Let G be a k-connected irregular graph with n vertices, m edges, maximum degree Δ and minimum degree δ. In this paper, we mainly show2Δ−q1(G)>2(nΔ−2m)k22(nΔ−2m)[(n−2+2k−Δ)(n−δ−1)+k2]+nk2, where q1(G) is the signless Laplacian spectral radius of G. The inequality improves previous bounds of several authors in some cases. It also implies a lower bound of 2Δ−q1(H) for a proper subgraph H of a k-connected Δ-regular graph. Another lower bound of 2Δ−q1(G) for a connected graph G is also given.

Abstract:In the past decades, graphs that are determined by their spectrum have received more attention, since they have been applied to several fields, such as randomized algorithms, combinatorial optimization problems and machine learning. An important part of spectral graph theory is devoted to determining whether given graphs or classes of graphs are determined by their spectra or not. So, finding and introducing any class of graphs which are determined by their spectra can be an interesting and important problem. A graph is said to be DQS if there is no other non-isomorphic graph with the same signless Laplacian spectrum. For a DQS graph G, we show that G[rK1 [sK2 is DQS under certain conditions, where r, s are natural numbers and K1 and K2 denote the complete graphs on one vertex and two vertices, respectively. Applying these results, some DQS graphs with independent edges and isolated vertices are obtained

Abstract:Let ρ(D(G)) denote the distance spectral radius of a graph G and ∂(G→) denote the distance signless Laplacian spectral radius of a digraph G→. Let Gn,kD be the set of all k-connected graphs of order n with diameter D. In this paper, we first determine the unique graph with minimum distance spectral radius in Gn,kD; we then give sharp upper and lower bounds for the distance signless Laplacian spectral radius of strongly connected digraphs; we also characterize the digraphs having the maximal and minimal distance signless Laplacian spectral radii among all strongly connected digraphs; furthermore, we determine the extremal digraph with the minimal distance signless Laplacian spectral radius with given dichromatic number.

Abstract:Parallel to the signless Laplacian spectral theory, we introduce and develop the nonlinear spectral theory of signless 1-Laplacian on graphs. Again, the first eigenvalue μ^+_1 of the signless 1-Laplacian precisely characterizes the bipartiteness of a graph and naturally connects to the maxcut problem. However, the dual Cheeger constant h^+, which has only some upper and lower bounds in the Laplacian spectral theory, is proved to be 1-μ^+_1. The structure of the eigenvectors and the graphic feature of eigenvalues are also studied. The Courant nodal domain theorem for graphs is extended to the signless 1-Laplacian. A set-pair version of the Lovász extension, which aims at the equivalence between discrete combination optimization and continuous function optimization, is established to recover the relationship h^+=1-μ^+_1. A local analysis of the associated functional yields an inverse power method to determine h^+ and then produces an efficient implementation of the recursive spectral cut algorithm for the maxcut problem.

In this paper, we show that for all the connected graphs of order n≥5 with signless Laplacian index q1(G) and radius rad(G), q1(G)⋅rad(G) is maximum for and only for the graph Bagn−2s+3,2s−1, where s=⌈n/4⌉. This solves a conjecture in [6] on the signless Laplacian index involving the radius.
