Abstract:Due to lack of a reasonable description for analysis of the harmonic oscillator, based on the output pattern of the ideal harmonic oscillator, a unified description model for the harmonic oscillator is proposed by using a nonlinear differential equation, the existence conditions of periodic solutions for the model are discussed, and then the existence conditions of periodic solutions for this model are given. Abstract:In this paper, a nonperiodic discrete nonlinear equation with Jacobi operators is considered. By using the critical point theory, we establish some new sufficient conditions on the existence and multiplicity of homoclinic solutions. Recent results are generalized and significantly improved. Existence of Periodic Solution for Semi-linear Second-order Differential Equations

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence of periodic solutions for a class of semilinear second-order differential equations. The difficulty of traditional methods lies in a mass of detailed estimates. By applying the viscosity solutions method and the classical upper-lower solutions method, as well as the Leray-Schauder fixed point principle, we establish the existence of periodic solutions to the equation under some weaker conditions. Our result improves and generalizes many results on the ropes mechanics equations in the previous literature.

We prove that there exists T 0 > 0 such that, for any T < T 0 , the provided Hamiltonian system has a nontrivial T‐periodic and T/2‐antiperiodic solution via linking theorem and iteration method.

Resonance and Periodic Solutions for Harmonic Oscillators with General Forcing

Abstract:We discuss the notion of resonance, as well as the existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions for a forced simple harmonic oscillator. While this topic is elementary, and well-studied for sinusoidal forcing, this does not seem to be the case when the forcing function is general (perhaps discontinuous). Clear statements of theorems and proofs do not readily appear in standard textbooks or online. For that reason, we provide a characterization of resonant solutions, written in terms of the relationship between the forcing and natural frequencies, as well as a condition on a particular Fourier mode. While our discussions involve some notions from $L^2$-spaces, our proofs are elementary, using this the variation of parameters formula; the main theorem and its proof should be readable by students who have completed a differential equations course and have some experience with analysis. We provide several examples, and give various constructions of resonant solutions. Additionally, we connect our discussion to notions of resonance in systems of partial differential equations, including fluid-structure interactions and partially damped systems.

Abstract:In this paper we study the following nonlinear Schrodinger equation {-Delta u+a(x)u=f(x,u), u epsilon H-1(R-N), where a is periodic with respect to x and f(x,u) is superlinear in u. Suppose that 0 lies in a gap of the spectrum sigma(-Delta+a). Without periodic assumption on f, we prove the existence of ground state solution for the system. Moreover, we obtain some sufficient conditions for the nonexistence of ground state solution.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish two different existence results of positive periodic solutions for second order non-autonomous singular dynamical systems. The first one is based on a nonlinear alternative principle of Leray–Schauder and the result is applicable to the case of a strong singularity as well as the case of a weak singularity. The second one is based on Schauder's fixed point theorem and the result sheds some new light on problems with weak singularities and proves that in some situations weak singularities may help create periodic solutions. Recent results in the literature are generalized and significantly improved.

The concept “rotating-periodicity” is a kind of symmetry, which is a general version of periodicity, anti-periodicity, harmonic-periodicity, and it is also a special kind of quasi-periodicity. Under two types of assumptions, we analyze the geometric properties of solutions respectively. Abstract:The paper studies the existence and uniqueness of a positive periodic solution to the equation <math>u′′=p(t)u−q(t,u),</math> where <math>p∈L([0,ω])</math> and <math>q:[0,ω]×R→R</math> is a Carathéodory function sub-linear in the second argument. The general results are applied to some particular cases such as the equation <math>u′′=p(t)u−h(t)sinu</math> with <math>p,h∈L([0,ω])</math>. This equation appears when approximating non-linearities in the equation of motion of a certain non-linear oscillator, namely, a pendulum deflected towards the two charged bodies.
