Abstract:In this paper, we establish two different existence results of positive periodic solutions for second order non-autonomous singular dynamical systems. The first one is based on a nonlinear alternative principle of Leray–Schauder and the result is applicable to the case of a strong singularity as well as the case of a weak singularity. The second one is based on Schauder's fixed point theorem and the result sheds some new light on problems with weak singularities and proves that in some situations weak singularities may help create periodic solutions. Recent results in the literature are generalized and significantly improved.

Abstract:In this paper we prove an existence result of positive periodic solutions to second order differential equations with certain strong repulsive singularities near the origin and with some semilinear growth near infinity. Different from the nonsingular case, the result in this paper shows that both of the periodic and the antiperiodic eigenvalues play the same role in such an existence result. Abstract:In this paper, we study the variational principle and the existence of periodic solutions for a new class of second-order ordinary p-Laplacian systems. The variational principle is given by making use of two methods. We obtain three existence theorems of periodic solutions to this problem on various sufficient conditions on the potential function F(t,x) or nonlinearity ∇F(t,x). Four examples are presented to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of our results.

Abstract:A second-order difference equation with periodic boundary value conditions is studied in this article, the nonlinear term may be singular. A few conditions are given to guarantee the existence of positive periodic solution by fixed-point theorem in cones. Our results can be applied to both superlinearity and semilinearity in the case that the difference equation has no singularity, and can be applied to both strong singularity and weak singularity in the case that the difference equation has a repulsive singularity.

Abstract:Some existence results of periodic solution are obtained for a class of second‐order Hamiltonian systems with nonlinearity depending on derivative. We prove that there exists T 0 > 0 such that, for any T < T 0 , the provided Hamiltonian system has a nontrivial T‐periodic and T/2‐antiperiodic solution via linking theorem and iteration method.

Abstract:In this paper, a relationship between the periodic and the Dirichlet boundary value problems for second-order ordinary differential equations with singularities is established. This relationship may be useful in explaining the difference between the nonresonance of singular and nonsingular differential equations. Using this relationship, we give in this paper an existence result of positive periodic solutions to singular differential equations when the singular forces satisfy some strong force condition at the singularity 0 and some linear growth condition at infinity.

Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with a problem of periodic solution for a second order nonautonomous differential equation with a discontinuity line. Under two types of assumptions, we analyze the geometric properties of solutions respectively. Then by using a fixed point theorem, we obtain several existence criteria of periodic solutions, where the periodic solutions are crossing harmonic and subharmonic solutions.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence of periodic solutions for a class of semilinear second-order differential equations. The difficulty of traditional methods lies in a mass of detailed estimates. By applying the viscosity solutions method and the classical upper-lower solutions method, as well as the Leray-Schauder fixed point principle, we establish the existence of periodic solutions to the equation under some weaker conditions. Our result improves and generalizes many results on the ropes mechanics equations in the previous literature.

Abstract:By using the saddle point theorem, some new existence theorems are obtained for second-order Hamiltonian systems with impulsive effects in the cases when the gradient of the nonlinearity grows sublinearly and grows linearly respectively. Our results generalize some existing results and our conditions on the potential are rather relaxed.

Abstract:We present some existence and localization results for periodic solutions of first-order coupled nonlinear systems of two equations, without requiring periodicity for the nonlinearities. The arguments are based on Schauder's fixed point theorem together with not necessarily well-ordered upper and lower solutions. A real-case scenario shows the applicability of our results to some population dynamics models, describing the interaction between a criminal and a non-criminal population with a law enforcement component.

Abstract:In this paper we will use the coincidence degree to give an existence result of periodic solutions for the scalar Liénard equations with singular forces of repulsive type. The main result of this paper clearly describes what balance conditions between the singular force at the singularity and at the infinity should be imposed if the equation has a periodic solution. As an application, we will improve the results of Ding, Ye, and Wang for the Brillouin electron beam focusing system.

Abstract:A class for systems of nonlinear second-order differential equations with periodic impulse action are considered. An urgent problem for this class of differential equations is the problem of the quantitative study (existence) in the case when the phase space of the equation is, in the general case, some Banach space. In this work, sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions for a system with parameters are obtained. The results are obtained by using fixed point theorems for operators on a cone. Our approach is based on Schaefer’s fixed point theorem more precisely. In addition, the existence of positive solutions is also investigated.

Abstract:In this paper, we study positive periodic solutions to the repulsive singular perturbations of the Hill equations. It is proved that such a perturbation problem has at least two positive periodic solutions when the anti-maximum principle holds for the Hill operator and the perturbation is superlinear at infinity. The proof relies on a nonlinear alternative of Leray–Schauder type and on Krasnoselskii fixed point theorem on compression and expansion of cones.
