Abstract:Let P ( z ) be a nonconstant polynomial, and let f ( z ) be an entire function, whose zeros have multiplicity at least 3. If sin z is a small function with respect to f ( z ), then f'(z)-P(z)sin z has infinitely many zeros on the complex plane.

Abstract:Assuming that A(z)=B1(z)eP(z)+B2(z)eρp(z)+Q(z) , where B1(z),B2(z),p(z) are nonzero polynomials, ρ∈(0,1) , and Q(z) is an entire function of order less than deg⁡p , we study the oscillation of solutions of the linear differential equation f(k)+A(z)f=0 . Some conditions on A(z) are given to guarantee that any non-trivial solution f satisfies λ(f)=∞ or λ(f)≥σ(A) , where σ(f) and λ(f) denote respectively the order of f and the exponent of convergence of zeros of f . We also find some types of linear differential equations with zero-free solutions.

Abstract:We study zeros distribution for meromorphic functions of the form $\sum\limits_n \dfrac{c_n}{(z-t_n)^2}$, where $\sum\limits_n \dfrac{|c_n|}{|t_n|^2} <\infty$. We prove an analog of the classical Keldysh theorem and discuss a relation between zero-free functions of this form and second order differential equtions with polynomial coefficients.

Abstract:We investigate above bound of total number of deficient values of a transcendental meromorphic function and its derivatives of every order if most of its zeros and poles distribute along finitely many rays starting from the origin and prove that the bound is the number of the rays under some assumption, for example, the function considered is of finite lower order. Next we discuss relations between the numbers of deficient values and common T directions of the functions and their every order derivatives, and demonstrate that total number of deficient values of a meromorphic function and its every order primitive is not greater than the number of common T directions of the functions and its every order derivatives. We then go to the case of entire functions. For example, we verify that a bound of total number of deficient values of the function and its derivatives and primitives of all orders is two times its lower order for an entire function with the finite positive lower order. Finally, we make a simple survey of some of the celebrated related works of Edrei and Fuchs' and Yang and Zhang's and others.

Abstract:For every $m\in\mathbb{N}$, we establish the convergence of the averaged distributions of the zeros of the $m$-th order derivatives $(f^n)^{(m)}$ of the iterated polynomials $f^n$ of a polynomial $f\in\mathbb{C}[z]$ of degree $>1$ towards the harmonic measure of the filled-in Julia set of $f$ with pole at $\infty$ as $n\to+\infty$, when $f$ has no exceptional points in $\mathbb{C}$. This complements our former study on the zeros of $(f^n)^{(m)}-a$ for any value $a\in\mathbb{C}\setminus\{0\}$. The key in the proof is an approximation of the higher order derivatives of a solution of the Schröder or Abel functional equations for a meromorphic function on $\mathbb{C}$ with a locally uniform non-trivial error estimate.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the zero loci of local systems of the form $deltaPi$, where $Pi$ is the period sheaf of the universal family of CY hypersurfaces in a suitable ambient space $X$, and $delta$ is a given differential operator on the space of sections $V^vee=Gamma(X,K_X^{-1})$. Using earlier results of three of the authors and their collaborators, we give several different descriptions of the zero locus of $deltaPi$. As applications, we prove that the locus is algebraic and in some cases, non-empty. We also give an explicit way to compute the polynomial defining equations of the locus in some cases. This description gives rise to a natural stratification to the zero locus.

Abstract:In this work we prove that certain entire $q$-functions have infinitely many nonzero roots $\left\{ \rho_{n}\right\} _{n=1}^{\infty}$, as $n\to+\infty$ the moduli $\left|\rho_{n}\right|$ grow at least exponentially. Applications to entire $q$-functions defined by series expansions are provided. These functions include the $q$-analogue of the plane wave function $\mathcal{E}_{q}(z,t)$.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper, we prove that for a transcendental meromorphic function f(z) on the complex plane, the inequality T(r, f) < 6N (r, 1/(f2 f(k)−1)) + S(r, f) holds, where k is a positive integer. Moreover, we prove the following normality criterion: Let ℱ be a family of meromorphic functions on a domain D and let k be a positive integer. If for each ℱ ∈ ℱ, all zeros of ℱ are of multiplicity at least k, and f2 f(k) ≠ 1 for z ∈ D, then ℱ is normal in the domain D. At the same time we also show that the condition on multiple zeros of f in the normality criterion is necessary.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove the following result: Let f(z) be a transcendental entire function, Q(z) ≢ 0 be a small function of f(z), and n ≥ 2 be a positive integer. If f n (z) and (f n (z))′ share Q(z) CM, then $f(z) = ce^{\tfrac{1}{n}z}$, where c is a nonzero constant. This result extends Lv’s result from the case of polynomial to small entire function.

Abstract:Let $f: B^n \rightarrow {\mathbb R}$ be a $d+1$ times continuously differentiable function on the unit ball $B^n$, with $\max_{z\in B^n} \| f(z) \|=1$. A well-known fact is that if $f$ vanishes on a set $Z\subset B^n$ with a non-empty interior, then for each $k=1,\ldots,d+1$ the norm of the $k$-th derivative $\|f^{(k)}\|$ is at least $M=M(n,k)>0$. We show that this fact remains valid for all ``sufficiently dense'' sets $Z$ (including finite ones). The density of $Z$ is measured via the behavior of the covering numbers of $Z$. In particular, the bound $\|f^{(k)}\|\ge \tilde M=\tilde M(n,k)>0$ holds for each $Z$ with the box (or Minkowski, or entropy) dimension $\dim_e(Z)$ greater than $n-\frac{1}{k}$.

Abstract:Let $Z_1,\, Z_2,\dots$ be independent and identically distributed complex random variables with common distribution $\mu$ and set $$ P_n(z) := (z - Z_1)\cdots (z - Z_n)\,. $$ Recently, Angst, Malicet and Poly proved that the critical points of $P_n$ converge in an almost-sure sense to the measure $\mu$ as $n$ tends to infinity, thereby confirming a conjecture of Cheung-Ng-Yam and Kabluchko. In this short note, we prove for any fixed $k\in \mathbb{N}$, the empirical measure of zeros of the $k$th derivative of $P_n$ converges to $\mu$ in the almost sure sense, as conjectured by Angst-Malicet-Poly.

Abstract:Suppose $C \subset \mathbb{C}$ is compact. Let $q_k$ be a sequence of polynomials of degree $n_k \to \infty$, such that the locus of roots of all the polynomials is bounded, and the number of roots of $q_k$ in any closed set $L$ not meeting $C$ is uniformly bounded. Supposing that $(q_k)_k$ has an asymptotic root distribution $\mu$ we provide conditions on $C$ and $\mu$ assuring the sequence of $m$th derivatives $(q_k^{(m)})_k$ also has asymptotic root distribution $\mu$ for any $m\geq 1$. This complements recent results of Totik.

Abstract:The main purpose of this paper is to prove a sharp estimate of the order ρ ( w ) \rho (w) of a transcendental solution w in the complex plane of an n th-order linear differential equation with polynomial coefficients in terms of the distribution of its Stokes rays, under the assumption that zero is not a Nevanlinna deficient value of w. If, in addition, there are only two Stokes rays and if all the solutions of the equation have order at most ρ ( w ) \rho (w) , then we can conclude that the coefficients of the equation are all constants.

Abstract:We estimate the number of zeros of a polynomial in $\mathbb{C}[z]$ within any small circular disc centered on the unit circle, which improves and comprehensively extends a result established by Borwein, Erd{é}lyi, and Littmann~\cite{BE1} in 2008. Furthermore, by combining this result with Euclidean geometry, we derive an upper bound on the number of zeros of such a polynomial within a region resembling a gear wheel. Additionally, we obtain a sharp upper bound on the annular discrepancy of such zeros near the unit circle. Our approach builds upon a modified version of the method described in \cite{BE1}, combined with the refined version of the best-known upper bound for angular discrepancy of zeros of polynomials.
