Abstract:In order to improve the imaging quality of ghost imaging and solve the problem of high distortion factor under low sampling ratio, we propose a compressive sensing ghost imaging method based on neighbor similarity (NSGI). The neighbor similarity embodied in the correlation between image pixels contains abundant information regarding the spatial structure of the object. We analyze the principle of compressive sensing ghost imaging and use the neighbor similarity to evaluate undetected targets. According to the principle of greedy algorithm, we adopt the neighbor similarity to optimize the process of image reconstruction, and set up the threshold value of the correlation coefficient to reduce computation load and improve precision. The simulation and experimental results show that compared with the traditional ghost imaging, NSGI can obtain high-quality images based on a low sampling frequency, which will further facilitate the practical application of ghost imaging.
Adaptive Polarization Compressive Ghost Imaging Based on Principal Component Analysis

Abstract:Ghost imaging is an imaging mechanism that can non-locally obtain an unknown object's information with a single-pixel detector by the correlation of intensity fluctuations. To overcome the drawback of polarization compressive ghost imaging (PCGI), here we develop a novel adaptive polarization compressive ghost imaging (APCGI) method. By performing principal component analysis of the polarization statistics, we can compute the optimum unequal weighting coefficients forming as linear combinations of the light into bucket detectors. The specific steps of APCGI include calculating complete polarization parameters on the background, performing principal components analysis for optimal parameters, obtaining the information on the target-with-background scene. Experimental results demonstrate that adaptive polarization compressive ghost imaging performs better in restraining the background and pop out the details of targets as well as obtains better image quality.

The image gradient can reflect the changes of optical characteristics and carry the edge information of object. In this paper, the principle of compressive sensing ghost imaging is analyzed. And the total variation, the integral of image gradient, is used to optimize the reconstruction process. Simultaneously, the threshold of matching degree is set up to reduce computation load and improve imaging speed. The results of simulation and experiments show that compared with traditional ghost imaging, the IGGI can achieve high-quality images and obtain the edge information of targets at a low sampling rate, which further facilitate the practical application of ghost imaging.

Abstract:In this paper, an overlapped sub-block gray-level average method for contrast enhancement is presented. The digital image correction of uneven illumination under microscope transmittance is a problem in image processing, also sometimes the image in the dark place need to correct the uneven problem. A new correction method was proposed based on the mask method and sub-blocks gray-level average method because Traditional mask method and background fitting method are restricted due to application scenarios, and the corrected image brightness is low by using background fitting method, so it has some limitations of the application. In this paper, we introduce a new method called AOSCE for image contrast enhancement. The image is divided into many sub-blocks which are overlapped, calculate the average gray-level of the whole image as M and the calculate the average gray-level of each one as mi, next for each block it can get d = m(i) - m, each block minus d to get a new image, and then get the minimum gray-level of each block into a matrix DD to get the background, and use bilinearity to get the same scale of the image. over fitting the image in matlab in order to get smoother image, then minus the background to get the contrast enhancement image.

Abstract:In order to suppress the false dismissal phenomenon caused by the detail information loss of the image with low contrast when dealing with dual-band infrared image fusion,a fusion algorithm on the basis of edge-preserving smoothing via WLS was proposed.Through edge-preserving smoothing,detail components in different scales were ex-tracted to enhance the contrasts in different spatial frequencies.In order to further eliminate the halo phenomenon, non-subsample directional filter was adopted to make multi-resolution transform has directional character.Experimental results show that proposed algorithm can make the fusion image contain more complementary information of input ima-ges and clearer image details,and the contrast of infrared dim target was enhanced largely in meanwhile.

Abstract:Compressive sensing ghost imaging has made great progress in recent years because it has the characteristics of less number of samples. Aiming at optical field distribution change in ghost imaging,the propagation process of light field was analyzed. The size of the lens makes the diffraction effect more obvious. The facula superposition makes actu-al light field become fuzzy and deviate from the preset value. The light intensity spread function of the diffraction limit-ed system was calculated and the preset light field was revised. However,the revised light field acting as observation matrix can still be reconstructed under the condition of mutual coherence. Experimental results indicate that the re-vised light field is similar to actual light field and observation matrix can reconstruct high-grade picture. So it is sig-nificant to revise preset light field by using light intensity spread function.

Abstract:As a new imaging mechanism, ghost imaging has become a hot area of research in optical imaging field. In this paper, the effect of intensity correlation order on lensless ghost imaging system is investigated. We demonstrate that the image quality of Nth-order ghost imaging and Nth-order ghost imaging with background subtraction can be affected by the different intensity correlation order of test light and reference both theoretically and experimentally. The result indicates that the image quality will not be certainly increased with the increasing of the intensity correlation order, and here will be very useful for choosing an appropriate intensity correlation order in practice.

Abstract:We propose a new local-binary ghost imaging by using point-by-point method. This method can compensate the degradation of imaging quality due to the loss of information during binarization process. The numerical and experimental results show that the target details can be reconstructed well by this method when compared with traditional ghost imaging. By comparing the differences of the speckle patterns from different binarization methods, we also give the corresponding explanation. Our results may have the potential applications in areas with high requirements for imaging details, such as target recognition.

Abstract:Multispectral imaging plays a vital role in the area of computer vision and computational photography. As spectral band images can be misaligned due to imaging device movement or alternation, image registration is necessary to avoid spectral information distortion. The current registration measures specialized for multispectral data are typically robust yet complex, requiring excessive computation. The common measures such as sum of squared differences (SSD) and sum of absolute differences (SAD) are computationally efficient whereas they perform poorly on multispectral data. To cope with this challenge, we propose a structure consistency boosting (SCB) transform that aims at boosting the structural similarity of multispectral images. With SCB, the common measures can be employed for multispectral image registration. The SCB transform exploits the fact that inherent edge structures maintain relative saliency locally despite the nonlinear variation between band images. A statistical prior of the natural image, which is based on the gradient-intensity correlation, is explored to build a parametric form of SCB. Experimental results validate that the SCB transform outperforms current similarity enhancement algorithms, and performs better than the state-of-the-art multispectral registration measures. Thanks to the generality of the statistical prior, the SCB transform is also applicable to various multimodal data such as flash/no-flash images and medical images.

Abstract:Inconsistency in contrast enhancement can be used to expose image forgeries. In this work, we describe a new method to estimate contrast enhancement operations from a single image. Our method takes advantage of the nature of contrast enhancement as a mapping between pixel values and the distinct characteristics it introduces to the image pixel histogram. Our method recovers the original pixel histogram and the contrast enhancement simultaneously from a single image with an iterative algorithm. Unlike previous works, our method is robust in the presence of additive noise perturbations that are used to hide the traces of contrast enhancement. Furthermore, we also develop an effective method to detect image regions undergone contrast enhancement transformations that are different from the rest of the image, and we use this method to detect composite images. We perform extensive experimental evaluations to demonstrate the efficacy and efficiency of our method.

Abstract:We presented a novel ghost imaging scheme based on fuzzy c-means clustering (FCM) to reduce measurements and improve the visibility of the reconstruction image. Different from the GI methods, the FCM model is first employed to partition the intensity values of the reference light path and probe light path. Then, the relative speckle patterns and bucket intensity values are selected with respect to the clustering results. Finally, the object can be obtained by conventional GI methods. From the considerable simulations and experimental results, we conclude that the proposed scheme can enhance the visibility of the reconstruction image by using much fewer data from measurements compared with the existing GI methods.

Abstract:Efficient acquisition of clear images of moving objects is one of the research bottlenecks in the practical applications of ghost imaging (GI) technology. Here the representative ghost imaging of rotating objects was focused on, and a group frame neural network combined with a frame correction algorithm was proposed to promote the improvement of ghost imaging quality and efficiency for moving objects. By performing angle correction on the illumination patterns to obtain corrected bucket measurement images, the motion blur can be suppressed. These bucket measurement images are then input into the network to achieve high-quality image reconstruction. The structural similarity index measure (SSIM) of the network's output images is on average 25 times higher than traditional GI. Moreover, all the images of different angle orientations during the rotation of 360°with a 1-degree step distance can be reconstructed simultaneously by making use of one frame of correlation measurement data. Therefore, the acquisition cost with the proposed algorithm can be reduced by more than 300 times compared with traditional GI without angle correction. The proposed scenario may find broad application prospects in the fields of military and remote sensing.

Abstract:Detector noise has a significantly negative impact on ghost imaging at low light levels, especially for existing recovery algorithm. Based on the characteristics of the additive detector noise, a method named modified compressive sensing ghost imaging is proposed to reduce the background imposed by the randomly distributed detector noise at signal path. Experimental results show that, with an appropriate choice of threshold value, modified compressive sensing ghost imaging algorithm can dramatically enhance the contrast-to-noise ratio of the object reconstruction significantly compared with traditional ghost imaging and compressive sensing ghost imaging methods. The relationship between the contrast-to-noise ratio of the reconstruction image and the intensity ratio (namely, the average signal intensity to average noise intensity ratio) for the three reconstruction algorithms are also discussed. This noise suppression imaging technique will have great applications in remote-sensing and security areas.

Abstract:Rather than the commonly used sparsity constraint, a new assumption taking advantage of regularity between rows or columns of a two-dimensional image is introduced to ghost imaging using compressive sensing, namely, low-rank constraint. Both simulation and experiment suggest explicit improvement on image quality of ghost imaging under low-rank constraint over ghost imaging under sparsity constraint (GISC), especially for under-sampling cases, and being in particular advantageous on image smoothness assessed by equivalent numbers of looks. Robustness of low-rank parameter setting is demonstrated. Low-rank constraint is also shown to be a powerful reference-less image quality enhancement tool for images restored by GISC.

Abstract:A scenario of ghost imaging with hybrid transform approach is proposed by integrating Hadamard, discrete cosine, and Haar matrices. The measurement matrix is formed by the Kronecker product of the two different transform matrices. The image information can be conveniently reconstructed by the corresponding inverse matrices. In experiment, six hybridization sets are performed in computational ghost imaging. For an object of staggered stripes, only one bucket signal survives in the Hadamard-cosine, Haar-Hadamard, and Haar-cosine hybridization sets, demonstrating flexible image compression. For a handmade windmill object, the quality factors of the reconstructed images vary with the hybridization sets. Sub-Nyquist sampling can be applied to either or both of the different transform matrices in each hybridization set in experiment. The hybridization method can be extended to apply more transforms at once. Ghost imaging with hybrid transforms may find flexible applications in image processing, such as image compression and image encryption.

Abstract:The underwater environment is extremely complex and variable, which makes it difficult for underwater robots detecting or recognizing surroundings using images acquired with cameras. Ghost imaging as a new imaging technique has attracted much attention due to its special physical properties and potential for imaging of objects in optically harsh or noisy environments. In this work, we experimentally study three categories of image reconstruction methods of ghost imaging for objects of different transmittance. For high-transmittance objects, the differential ghost imaging is more efficient than traditional ghost imaging. However, for low-transmittance objects, the reconstructed images using traditional ghost imaging and differential ghost imaging algorithms are both exceedingly blurred and cannot be improved by increasing the number of measurements. A compressive sensing method named augmented Lagrangian and alternating direction algorithm (TVAL3) is proposed to reduce the background noise imposed by the low-transmittance. Experimental results show that compressive ghost imaging can dramatically subtract the background noise and enhance the contrast of the image. The relationship between the quality of the reconstructed image and the complexity of object itself is also discussed.

Abstract:Correlation is widely used to reconstruct the object image in ghost imaging (GI). But it only offers a linear proportion of the signal-to-noise ratios (SNR) to the number of measurements. We develop a Gerchberg-Saxton-like technique for GI image reconstruction in this manuscript. The proposed technique takes the advantage of the integral property of the Fourier transform, and treat the captured data as constraints for image reconstruction. We numerically and experimentally demonstrate the technique, and observe a nonlinear growth of the SNR value with respect to the number of measurements in the simulation. The proposed technique provides a different perspective of image reconstruction of GI, and will be beneficial to further explore its potential. (C) 2015 Optical Society of America
